I agree with the dialogue. Apparently the VAs were forced to stick to the translation on the first few chapters for it to match with the original CN translates, and later on are given the freedom to breathe more life to the characters. That is to say they can change up what the dialogue say to make it sound like something there characters would say. I see why they would want it to match though so I don't blame them fully for doing that but yea,.. it's a shame.
@@KodexKatYep, this is the one gacha where EN (and the other languages such as French and Russian) are the original. I think I get what they mean though. Sonetto‘s „and I always wash my hands before eating“ was just a very weird response from a western perspective.
@@BirdBoxAdobo Friggen hate susan. TLDR of all my deleted comments. I do know the scripts are originally english. Sonetto's VA herself on an AMA said that they had to do strict CN version, which I understood as CN translate. Leading to sentences sounding too formal in english but would be closest to the CN grammar.
As a British person I was delighted to hear the VAs at the start. As soothing and refreshing as a good cup of tea. Only played for about thirty minutes but enjoying it so far.
hot take: everyone thinks r1999's being a mainly english dub game is surprising because every other gacha games has ruined the reputation of EN dubs. r1999 is a perfect example when EN dub is taken seriously and the game doesnt just hire vtubers and comedians for their dub.
The only reason I downloaded the game was because of the voice acting. I saw one trailer and pre-registered right off the bat without seeing anything else, been playing it almost daily since. Unironically the only gacha game I've played that I actually enjoyed, and part of that is down to the authenticity of the characters and the voice acting. It's so refreshing to hear well done British accents for once, and even then, the sheer diversity of high-quality accents and dialects is something to behold. I rate it 19/99.
One thing I do like is the different accents they gave each character and the fact that each character is based on real historical figures. Even bunny bunny who’s from Minnesota speaks with a southern accent.
Yeah, i also play this to… take a little breath from HSR and GI I especially love the dialogues because, for some reason… it feels like im listening to some audio book ❤
for additional context the pity for gacha roll in reverse 1999 is around 70 pull for each banner, i forgot if this mean for 6 star in general or the featured 6 star rate up summon, but other then that before 70 pull, at least you got a few 5 star from the banner or off banner
It’s literally identical to the hoyoverse games pulling system, except with higher six star odds (around .9% higher) and a lower soft and hard pity (by twenty for both respectively). Pity rolls over, 50/50 and guarantee system etc etc
Even Kanjira, a 5*, speaks indian. German, russian, french, italian, spanish characters does as well. Absolute peak EN dub (default language) in all of gacha games.
I am loving the game as well, but it's hard not to compare this to Arknights. In terms of word building, characters, environment, or atmosphere, it's definitely close. So if you like this kind of game, I recommend trying out Arknights. I've quit Arknights 3 years later after it's global release, but right now, overall, the story of Arknights is better. We will see where this game goes
The AK story might be better overall, but it is lacking in presentation. A ton of unnecessary text. At least in Reverse you can put it on auto and just listen, instead of reading a whole essay between fights.
I really like Reverse 1999 gameplay over ark knights. Ark knights game play doesnt seem fun to me even tho i like tower defense games. Its so much going on, at least reverse 1999 lets me take my time and think about my moves which is fun. Ark knights art is too much chibi too.
Exactly this. Not every game needs full voice acting but the fact that arknights has NO voice acting during the story makes it incredibly difficult to immerse yourself in the plot
I recommend another gacha game that you need to check out and that is Punishing:GrayRaven its a combat oriented game with a good story (though the first few chapters will be boring ng;) after that the story gets a bit more interesting and the combat is really nice you can do combo's and stuff it really is a nice game you should check it out
As a non eng speaker, the variety of accents (and british more than anything else) literally made my toes curl. The only thing that I didn't like - it is how they portrayed russian accent in Lilya's character. My ears were bleeding, I am russian ☠
@@kattherat1309 i dunno, it sounded like extremely, EXTREMELY hypertrophied russian accent. I am sure it was made on purpose, and then I got an idea that maybe other accents were like that too. It sounds cool when you are non speaker 🙈
I’m not a Russian speaker but I am learning it, I always find she singing подмосковные вечера authentically until I see your comment 😧is it really that bad
Too bad the first impression of this game is a yapfest They DID fix the old chapters and now we are reaching PEAK story in Act 1 Finale in the next update If only people gave em another chance :>

Love how a chinese game hired 90% british and french VA

nah this is not a hot take, this is valid
the game originally had english voice anyways, so ig it makes sense (?) since on the original CN servers there is only english with chinese subs.

THE MC SPEAKS?! (Genshin impact player here)
10/10 game
Genshin powercreep xD
Touhou LW has a female mc that pretty much talks through dialogue options, they are just her sentences and phrases split in two
Pretty sure when you get an option vertin don't say that

I need more of this setting. their is just something so timeless about the art and style.
You're right ,the EN dub is sooo amazing. This is the only gacha I play on EN dub even though I don't know any EN VAs.
There's a 5* character name satsuki and she speak japanese mix with english
Same VA for the JP dub
And An An Lee for Cantonese mix with English . Typical behavior of Cantonese asian speaker
Even Kanjira, a 5*, speaks indian.

Really happy to have game like this set in London cause i adore London a-lot and are style is gorgeous, Aswell as I am a huge simp for Tennant!
like how everyone back then thinks the story is only set in London lol

Honesly this game (in my opinion) also is very rewarding.
Or maybe it feels like that cus i acualy like the gameplay style
it is! It’s very generous with the gacha’s too
The gameplay is by far the most mentally stimulating I've seen in a Gacha. Besides Swordash, every other game is almost brain rotting.
If you want to try out dark aesthetic Gachas, maybe even those with a mature bent
try out Path to Nowhere.
thanks for the recommendation fam^^
i mean you play genshin, it's the same where the dialogue u choose doesn't matter or it just only has one option
