There is an Easter Egg when you start the next mission. In the Elites camp there is a data disc if you play it you will hear an Elite reciting a love poem about Commander Palmer.

honestly even learning all the halo lore Fireteam Osiris arent really fleshed out that much at all. So i wouldn't be too confused with them you're not really missing any extra lore with them they simply are a Spartan 4 team formed to get blue team. thats it
And you are still spot on with the criticisms of Halo 5 and 4 to some extent their is a heavy reliance on knowledge from the expanded universe. IMO Halo 4 suffers less because it can be boiled down to bad guy awakes cortana dying Chief stops bad guy saves galaxy cortana die. but Halo 5 Talking about the domain and the mantle of responsibility and cortana being back and that not being explained well a lot of the small things like jul mdama and guardians and all that stuff starts to add up and people get confused.
And at the end of the day Halo 5 even with a proper good story simply very hard to execute in a good way
Are you gonna do Infinite? if so i recommend the Halo wars(2) games you have probably already answered this question so sorry if u have.

Yes, I was planning on getting to Halo Infinite! Only thing is, I have seen others talk about Halo Wars 1 and 2 as well. Do you (and anyone else reading) think it's worth it playing them or would it be more prudent to only watch their cutscenes?

@@e-jas hmm its hard to say if you think you'll enjoy the gameplay of Halo wars then id go for it and try to play it. Halo wars 1 you can probably get away with only cutscenes but halo wars 2 only cutscenes is rough and is missing a lot of context( the cutscenes are like halo 2 so very expensive and less than Halo wars 1). We only recommend Halo wars(2) because it takes place chronologically after halo 5 and before infinite.
actually knowing you since you have talked about being left in the dark about plot relevant things you are probably really gonna wanna experience Halo wars(2) because without it Infinite will not have a lot of context of the plot(im trying to talk without spoilers).
Recently i actually played them for the first time.
Playing Halo wars 1 is great imo because it was a good treat to get a cinematic after completing a mission aswell as it is a pretty big prequel to the games(ill let you find out how big of a prequel).
Halo wars 2 was pretty cool and the cinematics were just orgasm tier i found it a little less fun than 1 but it was good.
id say its worth to play for added context and Halo wars 1 is just generally a good game all around and is standalone(dont need Expanded universe knowledge).

@e-jas depends on if you feel like you'd enjoy Halo in RTS form of gameplay. For the first one, I'll say there's certainly uniqueness to it and there are some pretty cool units you get to utilize, that you won't get to experience in any other game. The second one mostly builds off the first, but for me there was just something less thrilling about its gameplay
