  • If you are ever in the Hamilton area, or you're passing through on your way to Niagara Falls and need a pitstop at a Tim Hortons, stop by the original donut shop at 65 Ottawa Street North. It features a mini museum on the second floor and a statue of hockey player Tim Horton outside the shop. The building was renovated in 2014 to include a second floor.
When I visited it the first time, there was a rack of clothing like sweaters. However, on my recent visit, it wasn't there. Though I lived in Hamilton for 4.5 years, I didn't stop by all that often. It seemed that Tim Hortons was almost on every block in Hamilton and I just went to the one closest to me.
When I was talking to a friend who lived in Shelburne, Ontario at the time, a Tim Hortons finally opened in 2013. While familiar to many Canadians, that's fairly recent. The northenmost location is in Pond Inlet, Nunavut as of 2023. Its previous northenmost location was Iquluit, Nunavut since 2010.

When I drove up there, it seemed there was one at every freeway interchange. We had a couple in St. Louis, but they didn't last long because of legal issues, and they haven't come back. Maybe someday.

That’s really too bad what happened in St. Louis (I had to look it up). This said, a lot of people are not happy with the quality of the food since the new Brazilian ownership.
I can’t say I’m a super fan of Tim’s. I have my favourites like the honey crueller and banana nut muffin. I will even go as far as to say that the chilli is okay and I would order it. Just personally, I like Krispy Kreme donuts better because they’re softer. Most times, I make my coffee at home. Especially now that I have a Nespresso, I’m good. Just now and then when I hit the road, it’s going to be McDonald’s first, and Tim’s second as a choice if it comes to it.
If I do a road trip within Ontario, I know a lot of service stations would have Tim Hortons. That’s just fine.
[Edit] I remember cross border shopping at Buffalo (it’s a thing) and seeing a Tim’s for the first time there. I thought it was weird since it was so Canadian. Anyhow, double double is such a common phrase that you can use it in Macdonald’s even and they would know. It’s okay. Not sure how Starbucks feels about that but I’m sure it also applies.
