Tiny Homes Show ft. Tiny Homes on Sale from Private Owners

At the Tiny Homes Show 2024 in Ancaster, Ontario, there were a few tiny homes on sale by private owners. It was pretty interesting to talk to these owners. While they all had they're own reasons for the sale, some much needed information was provided. It helps that it wasn't so crowded or that there was very little to no line ups. I hate being rushed through things. It was easy to take my time ...

A quick view of some of the tiny homes on display at the show. These include tiny homes on wheels with lofts. Recent changes to rules in Ontario do not allow lofts. Minimum height should be 6'4". While this may be the case in Ontario, it may be different elsewhere. Check with your municipality regarding requirements or if they allow tiny homes at all. hate composting toilets !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!For the money a person pays for these "tiny" homes I dont want to deal with removing crap of anyones ~!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Fair point. Not my favourite either. Last year, when I posted two videos of the Tiny Home Show, people were wondering why I was having a closer look at bathrooms. To be honest, I like nice bathrooms with flushing toilets. And a lot of times, tiny homes would have composting toilets. They're really not appealing at all. While I only quickly looked over the bathrooms this year, I would like to know that some companies can design decent or even better looking bathrooms than basic.
Hey my friend, I have seen your videos which are really awesome and very interesting. But due to some errors in your Channel and Videos like (SEO and Optimization ) Your videos are not reaching your targeted audience and that's why after uploading a lot of videos you are not getting expected Views and Subscribers in your channel . I am a RUclips SEO Expert and if you want I can help you to solve these problems. As a result I can say that you will be able to see much better results than you currently have in your Channel. Also I have audited your channel and created a report. I want to show you, but how can I contact you?
Thanks. I appreciate your comment. However, I do these videos on a very part time basis (only when I have time to create them). Plus, I don’t think I’m a professional videographer. I am using a very old computer with the free video editing software that came with it. While making money off it would be a bonus, it’s just a lot of effort to be a content creator full time. Editing itself takes a long time. Hence, me not getting a lot of videos out. So pretty much, I just do what I like and put it out there. Thanks.
@@iFoxyGN Ok I love listening to you and love making videos I want these videos to reach everyone I want to help you reach your videos
Thanks again. It’s a no. If you have actually watched my videos, the majority of them are set to music with the original audio taken out. Plus, I’m not sure where you are located. I have already met someone in person quite a long time ago who deals with SEO. He is still in business. I’m sure if I reached out, I can ask him in person. He does a lot of workshops regularly.
Lyrics: Oh Canada...
This is a five second video just to greet people Happy Canada Day. Full anthem in English and French have now been uploaded.
When I drove up there, it seemed there was one at every freeway interchange. We had a couple in St. Louis, but they didn't last long because of legal issues, and they haven't come back. Maybe someday.
That’s really too bad what happened in St. Louis (I had to look it up). This said, a lot of people are not happy with the quality of the food since the new Brazilian ownership. I can’t say I’m a super fan of Tim’s. I have my favourites like the honey crueller and banana nut muffin. I will even go as far as to say that the chilli is okay and I would order it. Just personally, I like Krispy Kreme donuts better because they’re softer. Most times, I make my coffee at home. Especially now that I have a Nespresso, I’m good. Just now and then when I hit the road, it’s going to be McDonald’s first, and Tim’s second as a choice if it comes to it. If I do a road trip within Ontario, I know a lot of service stations would have Tim Hortons. That’s just fine. [Edit] I remember cross border shopping at Buffalo (it’s a thing) and seeing a Tim’s for the first time there. I thought it was weird since it was so Canadian. Anyhow, double double is such a common phrase that you can use it in Macdonald’s even and they would know. It’s okay. Not sure how Starbucks feels about that but I’m sure it also applies.
Does anyone know where we can put a tiny home??? as getting one isn't the problem its finding a lot to put it on thats reasonable or just a lot period in Ontario like incredible tinyhomes has communities where these can go with reasonable lot rentals l of 200 pr mo, not that id find that cheap but finding lots anywhere local is a prob!!!?????
I personally don’t know where you can go if you buy a tiny house. When I went to this tiny house show, I was curious as well as keeping my options open because at that time I was house hunting. Talking with the vendors, one of them said that’s the number one question they get but don’t have an answer for. Another vendor said they were in talks with Kitchener Waterloo area councils. It was more to educate them about what tiny home builders can do so that the city can make a decision on whether or not to allow tiny homes. A third builder didn’t offer suggestions on where to park tiny homes but did say that having a foundation build (rather than having a home on wheels) is best because it’s more stable rather than always traveling around with it. As far as I know, Hamilton have some requirements for tiny homes like minimum square footage and must be built to code. Check out other cities if they are the same. Most of the builders at the show were from Canada. So I have to assume there’s a market for it. I don’t have an answer for you regarding where to put a tiny home but maybe check out these other RUclips channels. They live in Canada and live in tiny homes. Just 1 suggestion: stop saying Torono. That's for the uneducated. Otherwise, thanks for the videos.
I was referring to U of T, but for those who don’t know, I would say University of Toronto. Maybe it wasn’t enough that I also wrote it out to go along with the scenes. Not sure if that’s what you are referring to and that all you heard was Torono? It’s not that often I speak on my videos and I usually don’t follow a script, so I don’t see that I repeat stuff. So thanks….(?) Always room for improvement.
Nice quick videoing with all the other people around and not spending six minutes explaining a toilet or cupboard space. That purple castle looked like it had a catwalk inside, and it wasn't over-done with purple.
😮😮😮 nice place
Thank you.

Oh man, I had no idea something like this was happening. I would have loved to have gone. Close to me too. :V
Me, too. Until I saw something on Facebook about it. I don’t know how long they have been running this event. I decided to go this year. Definitely worth going to, even just to check it out and get a feel for how it’s like to go inside.
Why would someone filmed somebody opening ovens and fridges? Couldn't c the layouts at all.
Fair point. This said, not all tiny homes on wheels would have an oven. Some would even opt for a camper stove instead to save space or have more storage space. Therefore, I was curious as to how small is too small like, say, for a turkey on Thanksgiving? It matters to those who like to cook and bake. At least they can see how smaller stoves might be good enough. Judging how the day went, I wasn’t the only one opening cupboards, closets and appliances. This is a public event and I am not a professional videographer. I went to check it out. There were twenty vendors with their models on display. Although I tried my best to not have people in my video, it’s inevitable that people would be in it. I just tried not to have them as the main focus. Thus, it’s not always possible to get the full view of each tiny home. I did include the names of these companies for each segment and in the description should you decide to look them up. They would have (should have) layouts of tiny homes.
This looks like so much fun!! We have pet expos here in Christchurch. I'm going to try and go next time they have it. Give Buddy a big hug from me 😊💗🐕have a great weekend!! 😊
You can glamorize tiny homes all you want but it's still sad that people now a days can't afford a real home or to live in an apartment or can't afford their mortgages. There's a reason behind homes not being affordable for people.
Yes, affordable housing is crazy now. There are many factors that can contribute to the current state like supply and demand and inflation. Also, as stated in the description, people have to be aware that tiny homes are not accepted in every city, so they have to check bylaws even before making a decision to buy one. I’m pretty sure this applies to many places all across North America. Just so you know, I went to the Tiny Homes Show for the first time this year. I didn’t know it existed until I saw something about it on Facebook. I was curious and wanted to see. Yes, I do watch RUclips and Facebook videos on tiny homes, but in general, I’ve always been into home design since I was young. I watched plenty of HGTV shows and home renovations like Mike Holmes. So the fact that I featured two tiny homes videos on my channel doesn’t exactly mean I am glamourizing it. It just happened to be a public event. It would just be hard to feature other homes unless I have permission from homeowners. Plus, if it were the case I am promoting tiny homes only, this channel would be filled with videos of me living that lifestyle or showcasing other people’s tiny homes. My channel is really about places and events I’ve been to.
Some people choose a tiny home because they are minimalists and don't want to leave a huge important in this earth. They chose tiny to save money and do important things such as travel and spend less time working for things.
I've rented apartments my whole adult life. Most of them were older and pretty run down, but even places like that are becoming a luxury, especially in Vancouver (where I live at the moment). I think getting used to much smaller spaces is going to be the norm for most people.
I agree the purple manor was stunning they thought of everything
Wow 🤩 nice video ❤❤❤
Thanks 🤗
Purple manor is absolutely gorgeous. ❤️❤️
Thanks for posting this. I discovered the Tiny Homes Show had happened on the Tuesday afterward. Grrr! So it's good to see what was there. Lofts have been outlawed here in Ontario, so some of these designs couldn't be lived in here. I don't have a problem with small spaces, luckily. I've lived in a 600-sq. ft. house for 30 years, but I would want a design with less kitchen than most of these have and more living room.
Tiny homes are okay in Hamilton as long as they meet building code. They have to be a minimum of 188 square feet and need to be connected to municipal services like water and electricity. Bigger cities may still not allow them. Toronto do allow laneway suites. However, I don’t think it’s the same. It’s pretty much has to be in close proximity to a main house. Talking to some reps at the show, one of the companies are in talks with the councillors of Kitchener/Waterloo. It’s more a consultation so that the city can make a decision on tiny homes. Another rep says that you can try taking a tiny home to a trailer park like in Cambridge. I know of a person who bought a place I consider a tiny home in Holstein, Ontario. He has to renovate for sure but it’s not on wheels. It’s not long and narrow like what you see for all of THOW. More like a regular house but much much smaller. He was building it for a few years during Covid. Then we lost touch. I’m sure he completed it. This said, he is so far from the city. It’s like 2 hours from Hamilton. It’s doable. It’s just a matter of knowing where to go.
Lofts are outlawed?
@@Seiaeka Hi, I don’t know too much about tiny home builds except from what I see in these videos as well as speaking directly with the reps at the Tiny Home Show. [Edit] Please watch RUclipsr Casa Duro. She has a tiny home and lives in Ontario. I don’t remember if she mentions her location. You may find her videos more informative. She does mention that the ceiling height for a bedroom should be 6ft. Most definitely, for anyone else reading these comments, I encourage all those who are serious about a tiny home build to check out what is acceptable where they live. This applies to anyone in in North America. Thanks for your inquiry/comment.
@@Seiaeka Technically, no, that's an overstatement. Tiny homes have been brought under the Ontario Building Code, which requires a ceiling height of at least 2100 mm or 6' 10 2/3" in a sleeping area. So you can build a loft, but you can't sleep in it. You'd also have to persuade a building inspector that no one is going to sleep in it.
@@val_nightlily I appreciate your input.
The mark up on these....is getting out of hand. Its giing against everything that makes tiny living appealing. NO ONE wants to have a 15 year MORTGAGE on a trailer! Smh. Theyre beautiful yes but most of them arent bring innovative....theyre just copy and paste models for the most part. It makes me incredibly sad. This USED to be a goal because i felt like it eould the ONLY way i would be able to OWN my own home! But now? Forget it. 😢
Pretty sad, yes, that even tiny homes are expensive for its size. Some of the more elaborate ones were amazing but of course really high on the price range. I knew someone who was building his own tiny home. It’s not on wheels and I believe the basic shell was already in place. He just had to renovate the inside. Him and his dad have experience in construction. So he was given permits to work on his own home. This was during the pandemic. Buying the material was expensive and it was taking him more than three years because of shut downs and he was on a budget. He couldn’t buy everything he needed all at once. I saw it once while it was still under construction. Walls were up, bathroom partially done. I’m sure he finished his home but I never got to see it. I used to see Facebook articles of really cheap houses on sale in Canada but they would be so far out of the way from the city. That’s what many people would comment on. It’s tough unless you can find some really good friends or family who are willing to buy in with you.
You can't get a mortgage on a trailer without considerable down payment because it's on wheels and the banks would be afraid it may disappear. Yea, beautiful as they are, soon they may be out of hand financially.
Im finding the same especially when I see one in Tennessee Ive been watching and there half the price and have lots with very low monthly rentals!!! Ontario is getting impossible to live in these days!!!!
Wow!! Great video…
Thanks!
How much was the entrance fee?
You can go to the website for cost here: agakhanmuseum.org/visit/tickets-hours.html It’s $20 for adults and less for children and seniors. Free for members. However, I went on a Monday of a long weekend during the Rhythm of Canada event. It was free. Try a Monday during a long weekend or any Wednesday from 4pm - 8pm when it’s free. Parking is $10 or take transit.

@@rere_gamingyt7477 This is a person I'm related to and it's an in joke. And certainly I wouldn't be telling on someone if they are an adult. He is definitely a child and his sister has also made a comment. It's not meant to be taken seriously since I went with him and his family to Great Wolf Lodge. I also had a laugh when I initially saw the comment and wanted to make others know that it's evident he is a child by saying that I'm telling his mom about it. Personally, I'm not one to splash people I know all over social media like RUclips. If you check out my other videos, people are not the feature. They may be in the video because it's in a public space but certainly not the center of attention unless it's a performance. So no, the children I went with would not be in this video, it's meant to be a flashback for them in this particular case as well as to give the public a tour for those who haven't gone yet and are interested. I know for sure that I'm still on speaking terms with said children.
