I think he is confused with lactate and lactulose Lactulose is used in hep encephalopathy That causes acidic ph which is beneficial there.. Lactate and lactulose are different..
Dear all! I have been suffering from for past 2 months. 1) mushy stools that has undigested food 2) It happens 2-3 times a day 3) white mucus visible sometimes 4) Flatulence a lot No other symptoms like pain or blood in the stool or anything else at all
It could be IBS but you need to visit a doctor especially if you also see brief periods of constipation. You should visit a Gastroenterologist, nonetheless but don't worry too much it is hopefully not that serious.
Mushy stools + frequency A/c to stool chart it's diarrhea Diarrhea since 2 months ---more than 4 weeks ---- chronic diarrhea Here, u mentioned undigested food + flatulence + white mucous mucous --- these symptoms are related to non inflammatory chronic diarrhea. So, differential diagnosis: 1. Secretory diarrhea 2. Osmotic diarrhea 3. Malabsorption diarrhea 4.dysmotile diarrhea 5. Iatrogenic diarrhea 6. Factitial diarrhea So, for provisional diagnosis There should be much more details history taking and investigations to rule out ..! So better to visit good gastroenterology hospital near by u..!

Great lecture!
Q: how come lactate corrects metabolic acidosis when it actually causes metabolic acidosis?
Lactate gets converted to bicarbonate in liver which helps in correction of acidosis.. It's not lactic acid
