I went to university at UMIST in 1982. Now gone, its origin was the Manchester Mechanics' Institute founded in 1824. Adult evening classes allowed hundreds of thousands of working class men to improve the lives of their families for 150 years or more....but not any more, of course.
The more I've found out about Martin over years . . . I really can't believe how many innovative things, & influences he's had on sound recording, & technology. Would have loved to have met / worked with him, we share a lot of strangenesses!
Tommy Vance, a great radio voice, it was exciting and creative times back then, people like Tommy help make it so. I was there at the time, missed Martin's work, only recently having listened to what he created very closely, indeed a great talent.

@kjstarscream I know it's your own opinion, calling my uncle a fat bastard, but I think he left this world hoping people would remember him for the music he made and the person he was.
thanks for uploading this (:
Martin Hannett was my uncle
That soundls like a song title! "Martin Hannett was my uncle" - in that case, the torch has passed to you to keep his legacy alive :)
Be proud, very proud
Your uncle is one of my biggest influences. Forever grateful for finding his work
was his dad a German SS Officer?
An absolute genius- I love your uncle
Thank you Mr Hannett. You built the songs that built my life.

Great to see this . The guy was a genius .
I lived in Oxford for a time with his son James Hannett who's a computer programmer.

@mixmastermonte Unfortunately, he died 4 years before I was born.. :/
Hmmm I did think it was actually. But bollocks to it, I'm not gonna re-upload, it's fine the way it is
@iisjakolas are you serius about him being your uncle? What can you tell us? Did you hang out with him in the studio? Did you meet New Order? Do tell!
i know this is pretty selfish to ask but is there more of this ? Cheers and thanks from Miami FL. !
@muttilo I know - haha. a lot to live up to, eh?
im decent at the drums I guess... ;p
@iisjakolas Awesome legacy !
@kjstarscream fair enough then
I don't think this is the wrong speed actually. You can smoke so much dope it lowers your voice about a fifth and I think he's done that here.
This is not wrong speed....that is what his natural voice was like......as you say....'a lot of dope' !!.
@iisjakolas oh, sorry about that. sucks!
its at the wrong speed numpty its two slow
Hush your gums
