for anyone still having trouble getting a checkpoint at the lifeguard tower, here's a tip.
you typically will spawn next to the person who you recieved the quest you are currently tracking from. if you are tracking svetlana's champagne quest and reload a checkpoint, you will spawn next to svetlana. same with ned's food can quest at the lighthouse, you will spawn next to him.
so, this glitch is easiest done when you have a quest available from someone inside of the lifeguard tower because you will get a checkpoint there if you are tracking a quest there. if you are quite far in the game and do the sidequests in the game, you likely won't have any. however, you can use molotovs or grenades, or anything you can die with. you don't necessarily need to jump off a cliff. you can spawn at any tracked quest giver and kill yourself with propane tanks or grenades or molotovs and the glitch will still work.
this is obviously less convenient as it costs resources each time you do it and the further you are in the game the more health you have, in turn costing more molotovs or grenades. however., you can duplicate a bunch of alcohol and give in to one of the quests that give molotovs for alcohol. or duplicate the resources to craft molotovs if you have the blueprint for it.

Thanks for video, i want to add you don't need to wait until the 2 seconds death countdown, you can do it just as the red screen pops up.
Alongside, mention the alcohol unlimited inventory you can do with this to make a combo glitch. Makes it easier for picking up.

Glitch is not working I get the checkpoint in lifeguard tower drip daimonds and kill myself load last checkpoint always loads me to another map where my main quest is even though I have the mike quest from alcohol tracked
