- After a solid three months, my off-road riding circle returned to trails - and not just the flat, fast one we usually do, but the Death Valley - a slow, narrow, slightly technical trail with rock climbs. Now, you can't go to a technical trail, and not attempt the challenges it throws at you. What's the point, otherwise.
So, with our trusty ol' Hero Xpulse 200s, we tried a modest rock climb (in our mind it was hard enduro) and quickly ended up burning the clutch.
This video is about how we managed to recover the motorcycle out from the trail and then managed to take it to the service centre to get it fixed up.

I didn't realise I actually smelled his burning clutch 3:56 but ignored it thinking it might be the tyres...............which they probably were at that moment :P
His clutch started giving up much before we reached the climb. I saw about half an hour of footage from the time we started till we got to that point. His bike was struggling.

Watched the full video, eye opener for riders who think offroading is as simple as they see in promo videos and videos with multiple takes. Enjoyed how all of you kept cool through the trail. Have a question, Carrying a tow strap would have been helpful for Deepak's motorcycle?
Yeah, definitely would have helped. But the XPulse is so underpowered, I fear the bike pulling might have also burnt its clutch since the terrain is not flat and one has to negotiate a fair bit of climbs.
Understood @@abhinavbhatt, myself and friends do similar trails sometimes, the video made me think if we were in a similar situation and how we can handle it better. Probably tow strap will help efficiently on the road once we are outside the trail.

How is that bike moving forward (17:40) with side stand engaged? Bypassed the side stand switch? Any video on how to do that?
Maybe the switch isn't functioning properly. Our bikes hit rocks/fall all the time.

The best thing about this bike is that parts (apart from the stupid brake pad) are mostly reasonably priced. I'm not afraid to break or burn stuff when on adventure (in a group of course).

I am not an expert but I do my fare share of off roading and the most guys do wrong is:
1.) they start too slow or too fast...
2.) They think their feet is the saviour from falling.
Few things we need to accept when riding off roading.
1.) We will fall and there is no shame to it, pick it and keep riding on.
2.) Stand on your pegs with pushing your body posture back, shift your weight back so that your front can jump on rocks easily, standing also gives you a advantage of seeing things far and making your routes accordingly.
3.) Have a good momentum which you can carry easily and push the throttle with ease.
You will see you will pass all these hurdles like magic.
Yeah he was agressively revving on half clutch... That might be the habit that's why clutch plates gave in early

Yeah. I've burnt one set of aftermarket race clutch. I could smell the burning clutch while climbing too.
how did you recover from that breathing issue you had on a trail ride video near mangar when you was gasping.
I don't push myself that much now. I stop before I start losing my breath. Basically, I try to pace myself better now.

@@tannenherz That's amazing. Sadly, we don't have trials riders or trials bikes in India. We have a very basic and heavy 200cc dual sport that we ride on dirt. And that's it. Most Indians are road riders.

Hi brother, i thought trails will be easy and i thought you all are will complete but i think bike has a problem if ktm 690enduro r it will be done smoothly. When toughing the bike it's looks like a road rash computer game.

Hi. A KTM 690 would be too big and too heavy for such a trail. A basic 250cc bike which weighs 110 kg is ideal here. If you want a jacket to wear over armour, then Via Terra have just launched something. Check it out on their website. If you want a mesh jacket, you can try out Royal Enfield jackets. They are pretty good.

I doubt anything will look similar to stock and be free flow. You could try the end can of the KTM Duke.

Actually, this climb can be easily done. We are not skilled enough to manage the clutch better. We just need a bit more practice. And as far as I remember, Saaransh did have a rope. We just didn't use it.

Best would be to go to OTR on the Gurgaon-Faridabad Road (Google has their details), and connect with riders there. It is a dirt park.
