this biggest thing I've noticed that something is wrong with Matthews is his doggedness with retrieving pucks from opponents, he is one of the best in the league with retrieving pucks, lifting sticks, leaning on guys etc, he just hasn't done that this year at all...hope he gets this right..if you have to shut him down so be it. id rather have a 100% Mathews come playoff time than a 60% Matthews playing thru it.

This is becoming a pattern with him, unfortunately: He comes into the preseason with some sort of lingering injury. Why is this not resolved in the offseason? Is he not taking offseason training seriously enough?Too many unanswered questions for me.
that hit could also be a new problem and has effects that trickles down to overall weakness, that hit alone looks to be 1 month + rehab from bruising, will take 1 week to even blow up on his torso and really show the extent of the damage
