Abe's Oddysee.... Everything about this game was so good. Never felt this way about any game ever. The feeling, the sounds, the music, everything about it was way ahead of its time.
I've never been able to play that game. When I was a kid I used to watch my father playing it and, even though I loved it, I was terrified. Today I'm 28 and still can't play it. Same goes for Silent Hill. Amazing games, but man, I had nightmares because of them.
"No entry till September 1997" Very clever lol! I remember wasting hours of my childhood trying to get further in the games than the demos allow. I would always try to pass the explosive roadblock in the Abe's Oddyssey demo though it's impossible.
@@vivasoraya, my mother used to take the controller when we started it up and just use the help menu to make abe fart and laugh about it in his demo :P I can recite the demo version of the abe intro, felt wierd when getting the full version and it was completely different!
@@gameshark528 Well, in my case the demo was released in English. It came with the "Demo 1". It was in English and then, the full version in Spanish, and it was different too, hahaha. It was my very first video game and always that I see a video, it makes me feel so emotional...
Haha, the way it ends your journey by giving you an impassable obstruction that kills you 100% of the time honestly made me convinced that it could be passed. My tiny mind didn't comprehend that the developers had done that intentionally to make it seem more rounded without cutting you off randomly.

The final version of Demo One! This was my first ever CD! Hercules, Abe's Odyssey and the creepy Kurushi... I was always too scared to play LifeForce Tenka, I don't think I ever left the first room, because I always covered my eyes in fear!
i was 8 years old and in hospital for a month, in a shared room with two other boys. we played this a tonne on a new ps they had set up for us. distinctly remember abe's odyssey but couldn't have told you hercules was on it. all coming back now
yeah same here the megadrive seemed like such a childs toy lol. Going from lame 2D games to CD-ROM's I remember playing Tenka and even the animation of the loading screen (the laser on the CD) was cool. I remember the first day I had the playstation (it was my birthday or christmas) I played some futuristic police driving/shooting game called "Crime Killer" on Demo 1 all night practically. It seemed so awesome. (funny thing now looking up the game it looks so crude and dull in 2021). But Abe was awesome and even though hercules and abe were 2D they were so much more advanced.
This is the Demo One that I had. Kurushi used to freak me out. I remember making my family laugh with Abe's Odyssey farting. I think Lifeforce Tenka was one of the last games I tried much later on. Turns I found it very good and pretty underrated.
loved the heck outta this, even owned most of these games in full but liked to play the demos because they were slightly different to the final product
Metaluna Zombie Demos back then used to be either later versions of the game or pre release builds. It’s always interesting to play earlier versions of games.
I don't know how I got this cd. I think my childhood friend from the UK brought it to me when he was visiting Ghana. His parents were missionaries staying over at our house. And we played the hell out of it FOR EVER. we were never bored. Because there was always something new. We hated Kurushi though because we were too young and dumb to figure it out. lol
It's hard to believe, but by the time this demo disc came out every single one of those games in the intro video had a sequel. I only ever bought 2 of the games that ended up on this demo: Abe's Odyssey and Rapid Racer. I was pleasantly surprised to see my copy working just like the day I got it. I feel so young again!
The Hercules developers really did a great job with this demo. The town feels very alive, like you can imagine it all existing outside of the frame. For an adaptation game (which we all know can be pretty suckish) its ace!
OMG LOL this is how I played the game when I was around 6-7 years old too. I remember I couldn't understand anything but loved it to bits. After I got the full game I got MUCH better and finished the first and second game to 100%. Good old times!!!
Interesting how there are multiple demo discs with the name "demo one". This is also the one that I have had since around '03 (second-hand) but other RUclipsrs have uploaded videos of identically named discs with completely different contents. Obviously a disc released with games from '97 could not actually be the first - despite having that misleading name.
It was because it was the always the first version of the model of that playstation, this one is version 5 for the SCPH-5xxx models when originally released! :)
For instance version 5 (the one in the vid, I own the same too) was the first demo of the 5xxx series of PS1/PSX but also the 5th version of the same thing (so pretty much just updated).
@@gameshark528 Somehow this didn't come up in my notifications. You mean that each time they released a new PSX model a new "Demo One" was included with it?
