Enjoy that family time while you can. Both of my kids have graduated from school and will probably be moving away soon. We may get one last vacation with the whole family this year but, I suspect it'll be the last one. Y'all be safe and have fun.
That roller is just a natural extension of your fleet now - you'll be using it all the time like it was always there. Better compaction, no waiting to get one and lots of time saved. Yes, the years will pass by like seconds - those chances for family times together come and go SO quickly. I know you enjoyed that vacation and the quality time together.
Yes the roller has been great I use it in every job now. So glad we found it. That’s for sure it’s crazy how fast time goes by. It was a great vacation hot but a lot of fun
I needed the hear the first 5 min of this video!! Even my wife said “see everyone needs a vacation “ I get busy working and suddenly realized the summer is almost over! Keep the videos coming
Interesting concept...the vacation! Believe it or not I have never been on a vacation since my teenage years. You should take your children with you as long as they are young enough to appreciate it. The work will be there when you return.
I know you're feeling I have a woodshop business and summertime is very very busy and we always do vacation so sorry for his kids are out of school I know exactly if I used to 12 to 16 hours a day
Great video and excellent explanation of what your doing and why! You are right when you said the work will be there. No need in killing ourselves just for another dollar. I was working can to can't for a long time. A year or so ago, I decided I wasn't going to keep doing that chasing a dollar. Now I work 8 or 9 hours a day Monday thru Friday for last years or so. Have a great vacation with the family. Tell Dolly we said hello! 🤪😳😁
Thank you! I’m trying to keep it to 9-10 hours Monday through Friday. It’s really been nice. I feel like I have a life again 🤣 We actually saw Dolly it was cool!
Looks like your starting with a nice hard pad, those sheepfoot rollers will pack clay hard, I have a few hrs on them years ago on asphalt base and road building. The pad 18" above, sounds better than the last job I would say. Keep smilin and yes, take a holiday.
Aren’t you glad you weren’t trying to scrape it out this week? I threw a spading fork out of my barn toward the tractor bucket. It landed perfectly on the tines… they never penetrated the ground. The fork bounced and landed right in the bucket! I wish I’d had a camera on it… better yet, I wish we’d gotten some of that rain this morning!!! Is that over by Duenweg? It looks like their soil. Keep cool… it’s heading back over 100 degrees!
No kidding it’s dry and hard now. Lol that would have been some great footage. This is on fountain road almost to Babes. Yeah the heat is coming back 😫
Yup, it's a critical time to be taking vacations with your Son as around 16 he's going to want to be taking them with his best friends instead of Mom and Pop. It's a natural progression into adulthood. Y'all are getting much better at your chosen profession. I hope your Son does follow you into it. It's goingbto take a lotta patience and keeping your cool when / if he gets bull headed about anything.
What are some tips and tricks and rules of thumb when building pads and finding and checking grade and stuff? I want to get good at building pads for site prep. I may have an opportunity to get some good work doing this but I want to do it correctly from the get go. Also how do you charge or bid these jobs? Is it a daily rate or hourly rate or what? Thanks in advance for the info, I love learning from your channel!
You want to strip the area down to a good solid soil before you start building back up. I usually find the side of the area and build up 6” to 12” from there. Then roll it in 8”-12” lifts with a sheep’s foot compactor. I usually bid most of my jobs or give them a day rate. I don’t work by the hour anymore. Hopefully that helps and good luck
Smooth drums will make that clay shine like a mirror! Thinking about buying me a military Cat 44B so I don't have to worry about emissions controls 😁
That would be sweet 😁
Nice job and Hope you have a great vacation!!
Thank you! It was a great time.
Nice job.
Thank you!
Looking good
Thanks man!
Great job!
Thanks man

It’s easy to do man. I’m a workaholic and sometimes she has to reel me back in lol
It’s bad luck to start a job on a Friday! Haha 😂

It’s tough when you have seasonal business but I’ve learned you just have to make the time. Appreciate you watching
I agree with taking the blade off. Then some light grey and red and BAM! Matches the fleet. Lol I have ideas.
Lol it would look good to match the fleet
Looking good have a great well deserved vacation 👍🏻🇺🇸
Thank you! It was a great time

Yeah there was a lot more decent clay there than I thought. The roller has been a great addition. Lol yes I like this elevation better 😁
You know Chris will find something for you to help him with while your over there.
That’s for sure lol

I removed the blade from the roller I had that size. Like you said my application was better without it. You'd be fine without it
Awesome! Good to know I hope to take this one off soon
Hi! 💋
Hello 😁

First Comment 👍🇺🇸
You had me worried when you were late on the last video! Glad to see you back in the saddle bud!!!
@@sassafrasvalley1939 i was so late…..I didnt leave a comment 🤦♂️😂
👍🏻👊🏼
Do you think it would be worth while mounting a small smooth roller on the front instead of the blade on the compactor?
That may work be interesting to try
@Vince Hern...NO!!!!!!
Hard to understand what your saying. Lots of back ground noise.
Yeah it’s tough to hear with the machines running
