Thanks so much Jakob, great demo 🙏 Helped me loads, was having trouble figuring out which of the gadget samplers was for me. This is the one 👍🙂 Hope your having a great weekend.
So sick. Can’t believe this hasn’t been done yet. If they interfaced it it would be a game changer for sound design. Korg gadget Vancouver does something similar with an A sample and B sample with mix knobs that I’ve always thought was genius and limitless for sound design. Similar to how op1 has A and B for drum samples now. Also MPCs fabric synth has made me want this feature in all my devices. Mixing 2 pcm samples and having envelope and filtering options quickly accessible
I think the success of gadget has a lotbto do with what you said: “the right type of controls”. If all the gadgets had crazy complex control over the sound, most people would be intimidated and even the ones who have a deep understanding would have to take mire time to get what they wanted. This way once the gadget is selected you are most of the way there.
+Electronisounds Audio Its the one we've waited for! I've gotten questions about whether Abu Dhabi or Bilbao can do the things that Vancouver now does. 👊🏼
Looking forward to your in depth look at the NanoKey Studio. I'm currently using a NanoKey II and a NanoPad II and I want to see how they compare and how the NanoKey Studio works with Gadget and NanoControl Studio.
A couple of things and you may have posted this. #1 How do you record a song and export. #2 have you used guitar effects with Apps and IOS and if you have how do you hook everything up.
This does sound really nice! I've been shying away from Gadget because of Korg's walled garden approach to IOS. Tell me Jakob, Can you have AUV3 inside Gadget?
+Geoff B No KORG Gadget does not support loading AUv3's into it on any platform iOS/Mac. However, when using Gadget on a Mac, all Gadgets can be loaded into other DAW's as VST, AU, AAX and with this update NKS is also supported.
Thank you! However the app links doesn’t allow bloggers, reviewers and vloggers to earn anything from app sales anymore. Apple removed the affiliates thing for app sales back in October 2018.
Great video Jakob! Looking forward to your review of the nanokey studio. I have the nanopads 2 and nanocontrol 2 and enjoy them, but the nanopads leave something to be desired. Keep up the great work. P.S. What's the best way to contact you with questions about apps you've demoed? (I specifically have a modstep question you might know the answer to.)
Yes! 10 second length sample limit for Abu Dhabi and Vancouver. 5 second sample length limit per pad in Bilbao and I don't know if there's an upper limit to Zurich but samples/audio files can be up to 16 bars in length max.
Jakob, I am thinking of upgrading to an iPad pro but can't decide if I should get the 10.5" or 12.9" model. I understand that the 12.9" will give me a bigger viewing screen but is it really practical for portability? Thoughts?
+Jim Runfola Quite frankly a smaller iPad is easier to travel with. But the screen size of the bigger iPad is pretty sweet when doing production. I'd go with the bigger one just because of the ease of editing thanks to those extra inches. 😅👍🏼
HI there, im just curious how the samples are imported..i mean, where is the root note set... ? for a waveform-cycle its clear, that the sampler pitchs it by speeding up and slowing down..but if i load a F'# Bass Sample for example , is the F# then set to C3 or does the sampler detect the root note ? kind regards
Vancouver puts every sample at C as a root note. However, Vancouver doesn't automatically pitch samples based on analysing the material. If you sample an F# note then that will still be an F# note when playing a C key. You'll have to manually pitch the sample in the mix section which the "TUNE" knob. 👍🏼
I wish it were easier to import samples. I wanna be able save them in the User folder rather than replacing the preloaded samples with my own. It can only import them when replacing a preloaded sample, all my samples are grayed out when I try to import them into the User folder :( Must be doing something wrong, it's weird.
Yeah it’s a bummer that you’re locked into their DAW with no support for externally loaded plugs. Many times I’d like load up a AUv3 spectrum analyser fo example. But they have a clear vision of what their daw should be and the decision from excluding externally loaded plugins means they can optimise the app better.
+Jack Cimino Forgive me I must have missed your comment. I actually love Infinite and a video has been planned for it. I started making a script and I have been in contact with Wolfgang Palm himself regarding Infinite. It's a deep synthesiser and there's lots to talk about. I'm just trying to figure out where to start and how much of it I'll be going through. 😅
+Jack Cimino I can't disclose our conversations yet. Stuff like inner workings off an app or stuff like that. So I'll reserve disclosing anything for a future video that have been in the making for several months now. 😅👍🏼
Jakob Haq Got it. People on Facebook and RUclips are whining for an iPhone and VSTi version, which are already in the works. I am interested in Wolfgang Palm returning to the analog and modular roots of PPG. Also, next year will be the 40th anniversary of the PPG Wavecomputer!
+the cHroNic nOize co. If they keep going like this we'll have so many Gadgets that KORG will have to implement google maps into the app in order to find the right one. 😅
I cannot understand how Korg can release this without a low pass filter or any kind of filter. Makes it unusable for me, cause there is not way to create texture with it. Instead we get five different Echos - something we ABSOLUTELY need in a sampler.
I think if you’re going to go through the features you should take your time and not rush because I have no idea what porta is and you lost me after that :(
These videos aren’t structured for explaining basics about synthesis that’s why I don’t explain what Portamento is. You’ll find this setting in most synthsesizers and samplers that can be played as keyboard instruments, that also supports a “monophonic” mode. In this mode one can only play one note at a time and the Portamento setting dictates the speed of the drop or rise in pitch, when going from one note to another. This concept didn’t come from the world of synthesis though and you can read up more about it here: en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Portamento
Great demo. Still relevant and fun in 2024!
Thanks so much Jakob, great demo 🙏
Helped me loads, was having trouble figuring out which of the gadget samplers was for me.
This is the one 👍🙂
Hope your having a great weekend.
Once again, I watch your video, I spend money. Thanks!
Hi,thank you so much. It helps me a lot. Have a great time
Picked Vancouver up yesterday, love iOS samplers, this one is pretty good. Would love to see a Battery 4 or Senato Sample style app come along.
+Meerkat Music Regarding Battery, I think BM3 isn't that far off when it comes to utility and tools. ☀️
Thanks for showing what this new Gadget is all about, love your videos.
+Mike Dayton Aw thank you. It's my pleasure! ⭐️

As always, best demo. Nice and clear, looks like fun! Thanks J!

OH SNAP!! 😃😃 This looks like it's for MEEE! This opens up Gadget to a whole new level entirely - Thanks for the video! 👊
+Electronisounds Audio Its the one we've waited for! I've gotten questions about whether Abu Dhabi or Bilbao can do the things that Vancouver now does. 👊🏼
Nice video my brother love it when korg gives us new gadgets
Same here it's one of my essential apps on iOS. I get giggly with every update! 👊🏼
That intro gave me a chuckle!
Thanks for the video
+Ivan González My pleasure! 😊
Looks and sounds great. Once I'm done with my beatmaker videos, gonna have to give this thing a whirl.
Wow. It even has a volume knob!
Super video Jakob. Thanks.
I told you the KORG keys are beyond awesome :>
+Floerebroed Hehe 👊🏼

+Michael Washington Thank you so much! That really means a lot to me. I'm happy you find my vids useful! 👊🏼😊
fantastic! Just bought after your video. Thanks!
Brill tutorial, thx for doing this:)

Just grabbed full version 2 gadget for.half off today... My question is which of the paid add ons are must buys

I'm an IOS & hardware purest, can't be bothered with the desktop set up. Thanks so much for clearing it up, good to know.
Geoff B hopefully soon! One one of korgs apps recently got auv3 support so maybe a step in the right direction!
Great video man, I'll come back to use your link when I purchase Gadget!
Thank you! However the app links doesn’t allow bloggers, reviewers and vloggers to earn anything from app sales anymore. Apple removed the affiliates thing for app sales back in October 2018.
@@JakobHaq Lame! What about an Amazon link for nanoKEY Studio? Got one of those?
Great video Jakob! Looking forward to your review of the nanokey studio. I have the nanopads 2 and nanocontrol 2 and enjoy them, but the nanopads leave something to be desired. +Imortal Trashcan Thank you! You can find an email address on the about me page on my channel! 👍🏼
i know that song in the beginning but i cant remember the name. thanks dor the vid. will buy all new synths
+Andy Dnetz I've got the same issue..I can't remember where I've heard this before. I think it might be some movie thing..? 😅
Jakob Haq Erasure! I'm searching for the exact title right now
ruclips.net/video/rLqKiqaS-DU/видео.htmlm13s
Ha there it is! It's a popular chord progression because I found which song it was that probably inspired me. ruclips.net/video/siXunj15hKc/видео.html
Plus don't have full gadget as I find hard to use my fave apps are tabletop blocswave and groovebox
How are you able to see the iPad's screen on your MacBook?
Waiting for demos of Lisbon and DeeMax!
+Tmidiman On my to do list! 👍🏼
Great review. Is there a length limit for your own samples?
Yes! 10 second length sample limit for Abu Dhabi and Vancouver. 5 second sample length limit per pad in Bilbao and I don't know if there's an upper limit to Zurich but samples/audio files can be up to 16 bars in length max.
Jakob Haq Great, thanks!
Jakob, is there anyway to turn the metronome volume of Korg Gadget 2 down. Thanks. ;-)

Jakob Haq ,trank you..i bought vancouver...its a nice Gadget.good Video BTW:-)
Good Job Jakob. One question. Does Vancouver pitch vocals in time or is it like garage band slowing them down?
+Thomas Fischer ah, it's slowing samples down when played low notes and speeding up when playing high notes.
😪 a pity
SHIT ; I can’t import ... when I try to import I can choose between Itunes and dropbox 👹👹👹
Hello,
how do you record a live on korg gadjet 2?
thank you

I like gadget but only thing does my head in is can’t Use as inter app audio

Ye it's mad I like it tho it's just restricted to its own platform if could load it up in say cubasis so many good drum machines on gadget 2
You still did not answer my question on your opinion of PPG Infinite or why you didn't do a video on it yet.
+Jack Cimino Forgive me I must have missed your comment. I actually love Infinite and a video has been planned for it. Jakob Haq yep!
How do I make my modules full screen like that?
Double tap on the Gadgets to enlarge them
Still waiting for them to do Belfast lol
+Joe OH You and me both Joe! What would it sound like?
It’s not in the list on iOS . 😤🎶✌🏻Christo 👽
+Christo Roppolo Have you got the latest update of Gadget?
I find it hard to use gadget
Everyone knows Montreal is better than Vancouver! 😜
+Supreme Lord Commander Should combine them and take over the world! Long live Moncouver! ⭐️
Needs a filter at least
Deleted and reinstalled the software ; still NOT working 👹👹👹

Anil Macwan omg, so true.. it's a no brainier for some filter inputs
i did buy it ...sadly disappointed .. may be my expectations were too high
+Issie wizzie I'd love to hear more about why you where disappointed and what your expectations were? I'm always curious about stuff like that'. ☀️
Or maybe you don’t quite grasp its potential wizzie
I think if you’re going to go through the features you should take your time and not rush because I have no idea what porta is and you lost me after that :(

Hate it every time you say: Vvaaan...COUVER
Everytime someone tells me they don’t like something that I do ... I always end up doing it more. Yeah, I have issues! Thanks for the feedback.
I hate how you say I hate it every time you say: Vancouver. You must not be accustomed to accents.
