Bit harsh on the Outlander, but we are all entitled to our own opinions and he shared his. I just purchased a new 22 Outlander Black Edition for my wife and we love it. So much that I got one as well, a 22 SEL. The amount of technology in these vehicles for the price point is fantastic! Very happy with our purchases.
you do you pal, of course theres bias since you are an owner (im mitsubishi owner too love it) on its own its a solid car but compared to others it is very fair.
Definitely love the Outlander and it drives great! From the beginning you could tell which car he was going to pick. Subaru must have padded his pocket! Definitely need someone next time to be more fair with all the brands. Absolutely will never watch another comparison from him!
Look like ,he get paid to ruin Mitsubishi's reputation, it was ridiculous and funny as I have a Mitsubishi and I really enjoy it since I bought and I haven’t feel any of boolshit reviews that he threw out, yes I agree acceleration a little bit slow but you can change today gravel mode and enjoy this 40 feel and fast acceleration the driving it’s phenomenal and price wise it’s really affordable and Fair compere to the other competitors, he even didn’t mention about different drive Mode s and lots of other option which you can not find in the order cause seven seat with this price,
I bought the Outlander and it's amazing. I've owned Toyota, Ford and Hyundai and I've test driven the competition. This 2022 Outlander shames them all for many reasons. Also, it's a family vehicle. No need for V8-like power.
Outlander might be a better choice for you, but here comparison was shown between 4 cars. Outlander does look bigger than the rest 3, actually it shouldn't be included in this comparison, ASX would have been here instead.
@@laknirala8248 We have the Outlander. We've had it for 2-3 years now. It's been great for our family, and we've put a lot of miles on it (>70k) in that short time. The trunk space is even large enough to carry around our sons wheelchair and/or his rolling cart. At the moment, both are in the trunk with room to spare. The backseat is also wide enough to fit his large handicap chair, and two more kids, including one in a regular car seat. Overall, we couldn't ask for more from this vehicle. It's a smooth ride, the leather cleans up nicely and in general, it's just been a good family vehicle for us.
I think this guy is a bit harsh on the Outlander. I cross shopped it against the CX-5 and a few others mentioned in the video. The Outlander is the one I ended up going with. To me at least, the ride is nowhere near as rough as he makes it out to be and the ride was so much better than the other cars I tested. It also has amazing high beams with it’s active shadowing, which I don’t believe any of the others do. It’s my first ever brand new car and I cannot wait for my Outlander Exceed Tourer to arrive. There’s a reason these have such long wait times. Have to concede the gearbox and engine aren’t as good as it’s rivals though.
This guy has been tough on the outlander since the initial review, and his review skills are terrible. He is like a rejected super car driver. Where everything needs to accelerate like a v8 I have seen many other reviews of the outlander and they were respectable. The outlander is not meant to be a hot hatch and that is exactly how he drives it. Seems like he has a grudge. The outlander cvt is good and quiet, there were other people that reviewed just the cvt alone in cruising and casual driving. And the cvt is excellent. The phev outlander already came out In Japan and will be better than the fully petrol outlander.
What's more common in Aus? Leasing or buying new cars? I'm shocked with the boot and interior space compared to wagons in Europe. Most wagons have more room but for some reason people buy Crossovers.
This is literally 1st negative review I have watched on YT on the Mitsubishi 2022 outlander. I've heard personal small gripes on it, but no one at right hated it. It was sad to watch.
To those saying "all other reviews have said the Outlander is fine"... Perhaps this is the first person/team to actually review the Outlander honestly? Food for thought. *shrug*
@@enjoiadrian i would definitely welcome an honest review, and i recognise that no car is perfect as much as i think the Outlander is. I think peoples problem lays with the fact that this guy just straight up disregarded it while also doing a 360 on his review of the Sportage. He went into great detail with the rest of the cars and I expected the same with the Outlander. Instead we got a 5 minute whinge session.
Grouping the Outlander in this segment is a bit unfair as it is larger than all of its competitors. The only thing I dislike about my 2022 Outlander is the underpowered engine. Given it’s size, it should have a more powerful engine…maybe even a V6. But despite its size, fuel economy is still amazing, so there’s still a perk to the 2.5 inline-4
This guy has something against Mitsubishi! I watched the video and then went in person to check the car out and it definitely doesn’t rattle and it drives very smoothly. I ended up getting the outlander vs all the others
I have. A 2022 outlander and everything this guy is saying if a Bullshit I got Enough room for me and two car seats on the back and I’m the same highest like him this people are full of bullshit
Outlander isn't the fastest car on the road but good towing ability. Power is sufficient. Better than a Yaris. But the phev version is a huge improvement in performance. A lot more lively. But back seats can't fold down flat like the previous model probably due to bigger batteries.
I own an Outlander and this guy is a crybaby about this car. The seats in mine are great and comfy on long trips. The steering on mine is spot on. I have NO rattles in mine. The suspension on mine is smooth confident when going around bends at any speed. Who is paying this dude? I tried the Hyundai. Not impressed at all. Plastic.
I agree about Subaru being the easiest to drive. I've gone for the Outback over the Forester as it still has the best vision out of any SUV's that I have driven, it’s head/leg room is top class. The Outback has more modern tech compared to the Forester, it’s also longer which gives more boot space, and most of all, it has slightly bigger seats which give me more comfort for the long trips I do. But yeah, anyone looking for a mid sized SUV I'd recommend looking at the Subaru's for sure.
You made a good choice with the outback. I'm shocked with the boot and interior space compared to wagons in Europe. Most wagons have more room but for some reason people buy Crossovers.
New Outback is a good choice, smart. Although the 'Sport' model losing the built-in roof racks is a bit stupid, despite paying more than the base model which does get them. And clearly you didn't listen to the bollocks about the CVT.
@@sparklander Sorry, you lost me there. What are you talking about, and who are you replying to? If you were replying to my comment, I was talking about the difference between the Forester and Outback.
I agree that the forester is is one of the best, but the outlander was treated harshly. The ride is quite smooth actually and it does feel big but not in a bad way, the inside is quite roomy but not overly massive. The engine was I’d say probably enough for it and just barely what it needed maybe a little more but overall it’s nice. I feel that a little bias was involved and maybe some subjectivity as I didn’t feel that it was all to fair.
I test drove a forester, outlander, rav4 hybrid and crv last weekend. The forester was easily the best to drive followed by the rav4. Outlander felt the worst to me especially the brakes. That was my experience anyway.
The Mitsubishi Outlander has been completely updated, it is improved from the 4 cars that you have on that list, only the Subaru and the Mitsubishi would buy 🎉🎉🥳🥳
I drove all of theses vehicles plus a few more. Price was not that much of an issue, however, I found the Forester was the best drive and value for money, so I bought one in Premium trim. Absolutely love it.
Feeling better now that we chose a 22 premium! The ride was the best of the cars we test drove and can’t beat the value. Ours should be arriving this month
It is obvious that his target is to criticize the Outlander the maximum as he could. For sure he will try to hide the additional features that you described (back seat sliding, reclining...)
He stepped into the outlander with a hidden motive. Perhaps he's been paid to give it a bad rap. You could almost figure out which brands has paid him off lol. I mean come on, the outlander these days are getting some of the amazing reviews from all sorts of reviewers
I kinda don’t believe the Outlander is that sh t, bad in almost every category isn’t gonna be justified with subjective adjectives like “feels bad” or “not good”.
Agreed on the Forester. Insane value as is, especially compared to everything else on the market currently. If I had extra coin to spare, however, I’d definitely go for a Diesel Sportage, maybe in GT-Line trim for all the bells and whistles.
Subaru Forester has kept the same main features since its inception. I had a 2006 Forester and loved it so much. It was light, had the best visibility of any vehicle, has one of the best all-wheel-drive systems, has the highest ground clearance of any SUV and is super easy to drive. I taught both my teenagers how to drive in my Forester and that convinced me of how great they are. I finally sold it when it got to 200,000 km, they are pricey when new, but second hand they are a bargain and a really reliable car.
For me outlander is the best among the four..this guy is biased towards the Outlander and has some personal grudge against it..he is a biased reviewer and don’t believe anything he says..drive of the Outlander is super comfy and amazing..
He is comparing 4 cars against each other...it's factual, car chasers also highlighted the ride issues in the Mitsubishi....buy the one you like the best 😁
I’ll be honest, I was genuinely surprised the forester won this comparison! Despite owning a 2021 forester (pre facelift) and loving it, I thought it would be outclassed by the other three cars here! Having owned one for almost 12 months, I can say the space, visibility and ride comfort are excellent, with respectable fuel economy! As mentioned in the review, the infotainment system and driver display are a bit outdated, but they do the job!
@@ekimandersom4478 Physical controls and analog gauges should come back as the new premium! Spend too much time on tablets already, want to limit that to only where it makes sense in a car.
Great review. However, when I test drive the Forrester, I found it to be struggling up hills. Really notice the absence of a turbo, in my opinion. I ended up buying the Tucson and the jerkyness is definitely a thing albeit pretty subtle.
i drive the Outlander and i disagree that it doesn't drive well, i enjoy everything about it, and you can't beat the 10 year / 160,000km warranty it comes with
Price, practicality, ride, features and running cost the Outlander is the winner for me. I've got my PHEV 2023 2 weeks ago in Sydney and I loving it. It is a very good upgrade from my old toyota Kluger.
Clearly Richard Berry hates Mitsubishi. All of the other reviews online of the Outlander have been very favourable. I just driven a CX5, Forester and Outlander. The Outlander feels the most premium and I think you need to get tape measure, because the interior is length is 10cm longer than the Forester and 14cm longer than the CX5.
Agree brought a Forester ... test drove all others, most felt cheap, poorly made, but the Forester is comfortable and feels more sturdy and value for $$$
Being an old man in the UK, I've had the 2wd Sportage GT Line-S 1.6 petrol self-charging hybrid since March '22. It has a "normal" auto box and doesn't suffer the issues of dual clutch systems. I guess it's not an option in Australia which seems a shame. Driving mostly around town, we get 5.1 l/100km (46mpg) and the Mrs is pretty heavy footed. It also claims 0-100kph in 7.7 and I do enjoy the driving experience. Compared to the previous version Sportage it drives like a dream. It is built in Europe for European roads, so again, perhaps it differs significantly to the Aussie version.
The comment about the best warranty was a bit misleading. 10 years with the Outlander as long as you service it at Mitsubishi but at $199 capped a year (apart from 5th and 10th year) why would you service it elsewhere? For me, the Forester is just too damn boring looking. That and Subaru drivers are the slowest and most irritating on the road...
After a lot of test drives I chose the oulander, review for me was a bit hars on the oulander, if subaru was not so boring and dated I might have had a second look at it, we don't have kids so not everyone is after a family proof suv, long waiting list on the oulander - built in Japan I might add, Getting my outlander in April,
Just got the Mitsubishi SEL Touring. Holy crap the extras were well worth the extra money! Can you say heads up display that shows all sorts of information to include speed, posted speed limits and even GPS directions!
Outlander for me all the way..the most improved and the best looking SUV out there..get peoples heads turning and drives amazing..Do not agree with the reviewer at all..Drive is comfortable and smooth..
Researched this car segment for the last 2 months, my findings, - 5th gen forester rated #1 in safety and readability over all others including RAV, trial hawk, honda and bronco. That said, it has been a long road for Subaru from the CVT , oil consumption, head gasket issues of past generation vehicles. At 6'3, CR just announced the Forester is #1 with tall drivers as well, no surprise as the "green house" visibility is very attractive. All the safety dings can be disabled permanently, with the exception of engine on/off at stop. After market solution will solve that as well. So, I will be picking up my Subaru Forester Wilderness (gas, hybrid incremental benefits don't match cost) / pearl white next week. Comfortable driving on and off road, safety and readability, looks, honest service advisors that I have visited with during this time, all have pushed me this direction. And finally driving my daughters 2017 Forester premium, sold me on being a Subie owner. Suggested maintenance to ensure long life; 30k diff (F/R) service, 40k CVT Transmission service, and oil changes every 4k. Compared to the Outback, Off road analysis/videos show the turbo in the Outback gets totally in the way of performance when climbing, as the Forester's new gearing and software changes bring much more to the equation over the turbo, in my opinion. ruclips.net/video/ZF_JtgJ7aKQ/видео.html No rock climbing, but adventuring, all day long... HAPPY TRAILS
I have an old mazda 3 hatch with incredible visibility like older cars did. I have wanted to upgrade to an suv and get a Forester. I recently drove a friends Hyundai Kona and my sisters Mazda cx5. Both cars were difficult for me to see out of. Yes they have fancy reverse cameras but nothing beats manual visibility. Cameras shouldnt stop you from doing your safety head checks. I recently drove a forester and was blown away at how fantastic the visibility was. It felt light and safe. I will be upgrading very soon and I only have eyes for the Subaru Forester. The Kias these days look pretty fancy, but they havent stood the test of time yet. They seem like a gamble somehow....
This guys sounds almost like he got paid to give Outlander a bad review. I drove the new Outlander and loved it. Didn’t feel anything like what’s been said in the video.
Of the Sportage, on 11th November your identical twin said “DCT is really really smooth” / “Ride is excellent and composed” / “vs RAV4, Tucson, Outlander, Forrester could well be best driving SUV in class” / Driving = 9 out of 10 “so composed, so comfortable, only thing could use a little more steering feedback” So, which twin should we believe ????
Ha Ha.. i'm on the Sportage, btw i'm not as tall as this dude otherwise i would get the Telluride, so my wife and i we went looking for the new Sorento initially but tested both and the new Sportage was also available at the dealer we just got it last month in full trim same green-olive color couldn't be much happier.. we simply love it..
i dont like how the Outlander drives ... oh wait a speed bump .. oh wait another speed bump ... i dont like how it drives , oh wait another speed bump ... LOL
I'd have the new Kia Sportage anyday , I already have a 2019 Kia Sportage 1.6 naturally aspirated petrol in 6 speed manual, would definitely upgrade to this new Sportage in Scotland , lovely car, love Kia's and Hyundai looks nice too 🏴👌👍
Fully agree Kia has a new style inside-out it comes fully loaded with features inside that anyone is happy when they have-them all-year around heated +cool seats front & back, head-up display, infotainment for the moment yeah subjectively it looks the best but i don't know how to describe them are not rough & tough robust like Subaru but is so good put together inside for materials used fit & finish it's not top notch but really it is very good quality for every buck spent on them + the biggest warranty of 7 years as a cherry on top.. to me each from Sportage, Sorento or Telluride any of them are really good no brainer really hard to beat but each customer choose based on what they need, they budgets and preferences..
Couldn't agree more. It is pretty much exactly the same as the Tucson, looks better and I feel its a bit more refined with the materials used in the interior cabin. Sportage's drive is a bit more firm than the Tucson but I personally prefer it to bouncy soft ride, you feel more planted on the road. 1.6 manual in a GT Line is really reasonably priced for the level of equipment and refinement. Sportage also has painted exterior trim work if you go for a GT line, none of this plastic which makes the car look cheap.
@@MrrrrMime If you have ordered the GT Line you will get painted exterior trim work. None GT lines have plastic trim work around the arches, lower sections of the car and the rear bumper is partially black plastic. GT Lines are painted gloss black. You will love the car!
Thanks for the great review. I just ordered a Forester so was really happy to hear your great comments about it. I know it's not the best looking but was awesome to drive and very comfortable. Can't wait for it to arrive.
Excellent review Richard. My impressions of driving the Outlander was the same as yours - big, restricted visibilty, like driving a truck. My impressions of driving the Forester also were very similar to yours - spacious, excellent visibility and handling. Unsurprisingly, we've ordered a new Forester.
@@krullmanz1 Really? Among the top 6 most reliable cars according to "Repairpal", 86% quality and reliability rate by"JD POWER". Etc... and you call that garbage?!! Get a life!
Thank you for the rear facing review! you wouldnt believe how hard it is to find that comparison considering most are "Family Car" reviews. From that and the space alone inside, its the forester for me. Edit: Love that forester won. Comfort and utility are #1 in a compact suv, excited to order my own!
The Forester is a perfect example of a substance over style car, while the rest of the pack is the exact opposite ( especially the Outlander). I agree with the verdict that the Forester is the best overall practical car of the 4.
don’t think that because the outlander scored low in this video that it’s a terrible car, it’s a pretty good family car (which is what a car like that should be). 3 rows, rear doors opening almost 90 digrees to get child seats in easier, been awarded the safest vehicle in crash safety and it has a lot of cool features like 8 or so driving modes and more. it has also been awarded the cheapest car to maintain which makes it great for families. hence the driving, i’ve never driven one but from other reviewers i’ve heard it doesn’t drive as bad as he makes it out in the video, the only problems everyone says is the cvt is lazy but that’s because it’s a nissan cvt and some say the outlander drives better than the rogue even though the rogue and the outlander share a platform. if i went suv shopping for my family the outlander would be pretty high in my list.
While each vehicle may have strong and weak points, there are three that I'd point out in a Forester 1) great visibility from the interior, 2) extra comfortable suspension as it's a car thought for light trail as well, and 3) the awd system (available from the base trim as well). These three features make the Forester different from the rest.
I’ve had the outlander now for three months and it’s one of the best cars I have driven the only set back is the engine power however I’m in no hurry I’m retired and it’s perfect for me
I have a 2019 Subaru Forester Sport. Even though that's a few years old now, I still know you got it right. I'm definitely going to keep my wallet ready for this mid-cycle refresh once availability and pricing go back to normal. An oddball line-up, but still a great comparison video!
Been having Sportage for couple of years love it. Never had issue. The only brand offered 7year warranty at the time I purchased and it's going to expire soon. I whould buy again. Or 10 year warranty outlander. After owning Ford for few years i'v learned warranty is very important ( to many issues with ford before)
Richard, never mentioned the Subarus height advantage over the others. Also it is a proper full time AWD, with a good selection of which is better for moderate off road driving. The others are part time AWD, the AWD cuts out at over 60-70 Kms for the Sportage and Tucson on freeway driving. Yes as noisy as the Outlander however Subaru has got the CVT down to a pat. I own a 5 YO Hyundai diesel Tucson, My next SUV will def be a Subie out back or forrester, prob Outback as recently released 90% redesigned, Celt for the engine power of which I believe a turbo is in the wings.
Went for a test drive of Tucson, Sportage and Tiguan. I would go with Tucson by looking at Tech and safety. Transmission wise Tiguan is a marvel. The cheapest one of these is Sportage.
@@Retromansite Its still same 10 year 100k. You can either simply keep receipts from shops, or even your own DIY work (plugs, oil change, etc). It’s illegal to make someone go to the dealer for service. Some things I would never get done at the dealer. They charge 2-4 times more often than a reputable shop. Now, I would go for warranty claims, but not really Service.
@@djkenny1202 Mitsubishi’s Standard New Car Warranty is 5 year/100,000 km. You may also be eligible for an Extended New Car Warranty up to 10 year/200,000 km if you’ve had all scheduled services done through the authorised Mitsubishi Motors Dealer Network.(but you're under no compulsion to do that and therefore it's not illegal!) Factor in the first 5 services are only $199AUD each. Next 5 average $440AUD and gets you to year 10 or 150,000 km. If I was a car manufacturer offering a 10 year warranty I'd want to ensure I did the servicing too - not some random mechanic. IMHO that's a better deal than KIA are offering and why I've ordered an Outlander. Each to their own opinion though.
@@Retromansite if an oil change is more than $60,I will definitely not go to the dealer. In the USA we passed a law allowing owners to service their own cars with receipts or going to any reputable mechanic. With all cars. It IS compulsory if you need to go pay their higher prices for the same thing. These services are hardly Rocket Science.
Richard Berry, you are gold. The Sportage diesel is the superior engine for mundane driving on freeways and in the suburbs. Also, how can you be fighting the motor in the steering column, but then say it feels vague and disconnected? Which is it, mate? I'm driving Sportage right now and it's quite civilised, full of feel. Sure, the lane-keeping is mildly intrusive, but it's not hand-to-hand combat. Try turning it off when you're in built-up areas (hold the button for two seconds). As for Subaru's CVT, it's perfectly fine, you know it. And it sounds good! Forester also has a massive boot, and full-size spare wheel (ditto Sportage & Tucson). Love your reviews - I can actually sit through them.
Enjoyed the entertaining review. Based on this I’d go for the Subie as well. Curious to know how Subie would go against the Tiguan or Karoq/ Kodiaq which often win comparisons.
Hyundai Tucson diesel was my pick as it had the shortest wait time. I was lucky to have gotten an unallocated car and it arrived just under 2 months. Kia has by far the longest wait (12months) but the best tech and highest demand. Outlander is great if you need 7 seats.
I have the diesel Tucson as well and the 8sp auto diesel engine has none of the jerkiness issues he talked about it. I actually find it to be very smooth and has excellent power for overtaking and acceleration. Downside is it's definitely louder than other cars and has a bit of a "trucky" engine noise... Doesn't bother me personally as it's pretty quiet in the cabin but I know some people hate the noise from diesel engines
Im sorry but id have to go with the mitsubishi outlander. Ive driven 4 and to me the mitsubishi was the most fun to drive and the fuel economy in that car is amazing. i feel witht the mitsubishi your getting more for yiur money as well. Im about to buy 1.
The 23 Forester has a slightly better look. But whether 22 or 23, the only for sure I would ever buy would be a white Forester sport. I just can't get past the looks of the regular Forester models, so at least the sport trim can be optioned up and those orange accents make the perfect car a pretty decent looking one too!
It's funny, I guess Mitsubishi offers a better warranty in the US: 10 year/100,000 power train, 6 year/100,000 miles bumper to bumper. And my el-cheapo Mirage came with a top quality portfolio with all the manuals.
While I respect everyone's right to their own opinion he clearly hates Mitsubishi. He gushes over the Subaru having a mud/snow setting and does not even mention the Mitsubishi has the same thing. In fact the Outlander has 7 settings including Hill Descent. I have owned a new 2022 Outlander SEL SAWC (US trim) for about 5 months now and it is a fantastic car. Could it use another 30-40 HP and is the CVT a bit loud on full throttle, yes. But drive it normally and it has more than enough power. In fact at 1/4 or 1/2 throttle it feels quite peppy. It is extremely solid, and the interior is high quality with no rattles, everything feels high quality and got cheap at all, the seats are comfortable and I love the quilted leather. The handling is very secure in the corners for a tallish SUV and does not feel ungainly. The ride while smooth and extremely comfortable is on the firm side, less so with the Front wheel drive model but I prefer a firm ride. And really ranking manuals??? I read them 1st thing when I buy a new car and the Outlander's covers everything you need to know. And did you take it out of nice black and red pouch they come in on purpose?
Great vid guys, but if you are showing shots and rapidly cutting between cars please add a title to indicate what car I am looking at. Cheers, keep up the great writing and material. :)
Mitsubishi Outlander: An impressive 86% "quality " and "reliability" rate by "JD POWER" An impressive 47% "resale value" after 5 years of ownership by "CAR EDGE Amazing power train warranty of 10 years One of the safest cars on the market, with 11 airbags The outlander's seat was slide forward a lot when comparing the leg room. He is being very subjective here so it's not fair
Love my new Forester. Yes it doesn’t have the modern tech look on the inside with massive screens but it’s very practical, super comfortable and just simple all for a great price.
It's a great car. I own a 2016 model. With four of us all adults, 3 large bags in the boot and full blast a/c from Syd to Gold Coast in summer, believe it or not , I got 6.2L/100 kms. Very enjoyable and tireless journey. Can't think of any other car.
Excellent, guys! I just bought a new 2022 Forester Premium after test driving it against a Hyundai Tuscon SEL. I didn't notice anything strange about the latter's double clutch or take off, but then again I was being respectful toward somebody else's brand-new, unbroken-in auto and drove it quite gingerly. I really didn't like that pretty much everything (controls) were located in the Tuscon's monitor, and much preferred that some controls were physical knobs in the Forester. I also appreciate the great visibility of the Forester, its more utilitarian vibe/feel, its tested all-wheel drive, huge moon roof, and excellent passenger roominess and cargo space when the rear seats are folded down. Yes, not a high-power engine, but definitely adequate and I'm not a fan of turbo-chargers that seem to accelerate the demise of your engine quicker than not having them installed.
Why anyone would believe anything this bloke says during his "comprehensive" reviews is beyond me. Just last month this same bloke waxed lyrical about the ride, visibility and composure of the Kia Sportage during its debut review in Australia. In just one month, his assessment of the Sportage has tanked form "excellent" with a review rating of 8.5, to a vehicle that barely scraped home into third place behind the Subaru and the Hyundai. Check out his review of the Sportage published on November 26, 2021 and cross reference that review with what has been published in this review. Consistency is key and bolsters integrity when critiquing cars, or anything for that matter. His flip-flop assessment of the Sportage and the cringeworthy fawning over the Subaru suggests other factors at play here. Thank you Richard, another so-called "motoring journalist" whose "musings" should be taken with a grain of salt. For those interested - no, I don't own/drive a Kia Sportage or any SUV and am not a Kia employee or fan-boy.
You are 100 % correct. No consistency whatsoever! On the 12 Nov, 2021 this ‘reviewer’ said about the Sportage (comparing the car to its rivals) “the best driving SUV in its class”. He rated Sportage 9 out of 10 for drive. Design 10 out of 10, interior and safety 9 out of 10. 8.5 overall.
I have the new Kia sportage G-T Line in turbo diesel (since November) and it's an amazing car! I always owned prestige/luxury cars prior and this feels on par with them, but better tech and value for money. Everything in the Sportage is so easy to navigate, it's roomy inside (I have two kids, one still in a booster seat) and we also bring our large dog along for drives, my Husband is a big build and has no problem in the front row. The car handles wonderfully and we've already taken it on two long trips, it overtakes with ease, has plenty of grunt, excellent fuel consumption and is smooth on the road. So far I can't fault anything especially after spending so much time driving it, the air-con is top notch too and cools the car down within seconds even on a 35° day! I never thought I'd own a Kia and I was initially sold on the design and ordered it prior to test driving it... But I have no regrets!
Have to agree, the Forester is by far the best choice of the lot. You did leave out the crash testing and im certain the subaru would have one that also for its reinforced chassis and engine hinge mount release where the engine submarines under the vehicle oposed to pushing through the firewall crushing the front row. Subaru is the last Japanese origin brand where their whole range of models are still built manufactured in Japan unlike all the other Japanese origin brands where 90% come out of Thailand. This is why the build quality is by far the best. They are the only true AWD out of the lot where you get even distribution accross all 4 wheels evenly, same goes with weight distribution. If you cut any Subaru in half, its symmetrical. This provides superior handling and cornering unlike any other suv in its class. Yes, it might not be the prettiest car to many from the outside but you spend more time inside driving the car opposed to standing outside staring at it. However, i personally like the look. Lastly its by far the safest of the lot because just with its proper AWD capabilities, regardless of the weather or terrain you're on, it provides maximum grip, traction and safety at all times. Yes, im a Subaru owner and have been for the last 25yrs. Tried other brands but nothing else could compare in its category.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who didn't find the Outlander seats to be comfortable in this trim. I just couldn't find a sweet spot when adjusting the seat. Oddly, the suede looking ones were more comfortable. Even more odd, I found that the dark color leather seats are more comfortable than the white leather seats in the Outlander. That may just be me because I can't explain how just the change in color could result in a more comfortable seat.
I really liked your review. Especially the 4 screens mode at the start was very helpful to see with one you like more, front back and interior!!! I ha e to aggree with you about the forester, now let's compare forester with another 3 suv so I will make my final decision LOL, Thanks
Thanks for the review. We were tossing up between replacing our current Forester 2.5i-S with either another Subi or a Tuscon. RAV4 is a 12 month wait and it’s not the bees knees in hybrid form. Your review confirmed our thoughts…. So I ordered another Forester 2.5i-S today. Everything you said about the Subi is on the money. Compliant drive, easy handling, quiet, efficient, safety tech is spot on and whilst it’s not the prettiest car on the road, it’s roomy. Suits us for what we want in a second car that’s mostly used as a mums taxi!!!
Forester also has a huge boot, especially in width between the wheelarches - helped by not having big gangster 20-inch wheels and sticking to more conservative 18s. Good move, brilliant car.
I've really enjoyed my 2018 Forrester, but someone turned left in front of my last month. Didn't even have a chance to touch the brakes. Spun him around and took out a fire hydrant before landing in a waterfall. The airbags were absolutely amazing. If it wasn't for the shock, panic and adrenaline, it would have actually been a fun experience. "Totally" soft and smooth landing. Left hand hit steering column and hurt for a while and small abrasion on left shin, and that is all. Going to my Subaru dealer soon, might check out Kia to keep my brother-in-law happy.
Richard is inconsistent with his scoring and comments. Go watch his individual reviews for these cars and you will see he gave the Sportage more praise and a higher score versus the Forrester when testing them in isolation.
Test drove all these and couldn't agree at all with the review. Kia, Mitsubishi and Hyundai way ahead of the Suburu. Suburu was absolutely out of this class. No power, lack of features and interior poor. Other cars had more features, luxury/comfort inside and better drive with better power delivery. Shocking review and gave me nothing on my next car purchase apart from not wasting my time with Suburu.
Not sure why reviewer keep complaining about outlander especially with tarmac mode you can see so much powerful transmission.. trust me go and give a test drive tucson, sportage and outlander you will see the difference, PERIOD
Nailed it! We test drove the outlander and it was horrible on the road, the interior felt cheap and was gutless, didnt look at the hyundai or kia as they were overpriced for what they are! Ordered a premium forester and should have it in September, by far the best value for money and will out last the others by a long way, yes the tech is not as fancy, but in 10 years time if something brakes, its not going to cost an arm or a leg to replace it...
Richard, I have finally put my finger on why I like your reviews. It is obvious that you love your job. You have such delight as you share your experience of the vehicles. Thank you and keep up the great work.
I never considered the MIT or SUB. For me it came down to the TUS and SPT. I think the Sportage design interior is definitely the best. Whereas the Tucson’s exterior looks better to me when compared to the Sportage. I just don’t like the back of the Sportage it kinda reminds me of a mini van look trying to look sporty but didn’t quite get it right. The Tuscon interior is still pretty nice so I settled on the Tuscon. Also the ride is pretty good it easily puts a 7month old and 3 yr old to sleep very quickly. 😅
I had kia xceed, now I have a new Hyundai Tucson, next week I sell Hyundai to pick up the new Kia Sportage Gt line. I am not considering other cars. 7 year guarantee. The best car for me.
I feel bad for you
Excellent car! 🤩
you do you pal, of course theres bias since you are an owner (im mitsubishi owner too love it) on its own its a solid car but compared to others it is very fair.
Yes that’s true my dad in 2022 got the black diamond edition which was the special version
Outlander definitely not as bad as he reckons, it’s a great car with lots of cool features. I just purchased one and I love it
same here we’re in love with the new Mitsubishi Outlander 🥰
I know right . I have a done a test drive and loved it . The review in this video is in far contrast to the individual outlander review which is weird
what engine did u get on outlander? 2.5cc?
Definitely love the Outlander and it drives great! From the beginning you could tell which car he was going to pick. Subaru must have padded his pocket! Definitely need someone next time to be more fair with all the brands. Absolutely will never watch another comparison from him!
Look like ,he get paid to ruin Mitsubishi's reputation,
it was ridiculous and funny as I have a
Mitsubishi and I really enjoy it since I bought and I haven’t feel any of boolshit reviews that he threw out, yes I agree acceleration a little bit slow but you can change today gravel mode and enjoy this 40 feel and fast acceleration the driving it’s phenomenal and price wise it’s really affordable and Fair compere to the other competitors, he even didn’t mention about different drive Mode s and lots of other option which you can not find in the order cause seven seat with this price,
This guy just criticized the Outlander a lot, we own a 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander and we are very happy with it 😁😊 ♦️ ♦️ ♦️
Great choice 👌 👍 👏
I love this car too
I like it too but at the core it's anecodtal.
Where everything needs to accelerate like a v8
I have seen many other reviews of the outlander and they were respectable.
I really enjoyed driving the Outlander as a rental recently too. I almost bought one it is a great car.
The outlander is basically a Nissan Rogue. It's also in this group because of the same $30K price point.
There’s no way the lemon CVT could handle the extra power of a V6
is he right about the weird soft and stiff handling?
This guy has something against Mitsubishi! I watched the video and then went in person to check the car out and it definitely doesn’t rattle and it drives very smoothly. I ended up getting the outlander vs all the others
Congratulations!
I found the mitsibishi gutless
We liked the Outlander so much that we bought two.
Plastic.
@@peeweehart5723 The Australian model has a spare wheel.

There is No headroom in the Outlander. It;'s sporty looksmean a really low roof line.
I test drove a forester, outlander, rav4 hybrid and crv last weekend. The forester was easily the best to drive followed by the rav4. Outlander felt the worst to me especially the brakes. That was my experience anyway.
the outlander has the most headroom. i know this because i sat in all of them @@darrennorth7987
Got my 2022 Outlander in May of 2021, loved it since day 1.
You made the right choice. We've bought one, too.
@@lg0602 Congratulations brother, I’m certain you will be happy with your choice. I love the way it drives and handles.👍
Feeling better now that we chose a 22 premium! The ride was the best of the cars we test drove and can’t beat the value. Ours should be arriving this month
The Outlander's back seat could slide back further. He had it all the way forward.
also they recline to aid tall headroom, mitsubishi thought of everything, he did not, he is overly subjective perhaps?.
The Outlander 👌🏼👌🏼 and Kia 👌🏼even Tucson 👌🏼are no brainers lol 👍🏼
It is obvious that his target is to criticize the Outlander the maximum as he could. For sure he will try to hide the additional features that you described (back seat sliding, reclining...)
He stepped into the outlander with a hidden motive. Perhaps he's been paid to give it a bad rap. You could almost figure out which brands has paid him off lol. I mean come on, the outlander these days are getting some of the amazing reviews from all sorts of reviewers

Outlander is way better than any of these no matter what you say... Not to mention.... The best looking one!
I prefer the Outlander.
I already have Outlander 2016
And I hope I can get the Outlander 2023
Agreed on the Forester. Insane value as is, especially compared to everything else on the market currently. If I had extra coin to spare, however, I’d definitely go for a Diesel Sportage, maybe in GT-Line trim for all the bells and whistles.
Why subaru engines fail
ruclips.net/video/bJSYDBjkJNQ/видео.html
Subaru Forester has kept the same main features since its inception. I had a 2006 Forester and loved it so much. It was light, had the best visibility of any vehicle, has one of the best all-wheel-drive systems, has the highest ground clearance of any SUV and is super easy to drive. I taught both my teenagers how to drive in my Forester and that convinced me of how great they are. I finally sold it when it got to 200,000 km, they are pricey when new, but second hand they are a bargain and a really reliable car.
And the base model is an absolute steal in this market.
Could go light off road with it. Very practical for people who live in unsealed roads
For me outlander is the best among the four..this guy is biased towards the Outlander and has some personal grudge against it..he is a biased reviewer and don’t believe anything he says..drive of the Outlander is super comfy and amazing..
I find none of these cars attractive but to me the Outlander is the hands down ugliest both inside and outside. I'd be embarrassed to be seen in one.
@@worrywart1311 i understand those sentiments lolz

I’ll be honest, I was genuinely surprised the forester won this comparison! Despite owning a 2021 forester (pre facelift) and loving it, I thought it would be outclassed by the other three cars here! Having owned one for almost 12 months, I can say the space, visibility and ride comfort are excellent, with respectable fuel economy! As mentioned in the review, the infotainment system and driver display are a bit outdated, but they do the job!
Not outdated, just simple and easy to use, as it should be.

Great review. However, when I test drive the Forrester, I found it to be struggling up hills. Really notice the absence of a turbo, in my opinion. I ended up buying the Tucson and the jerkyness is definitely a thing albeit pretty subtle.
i drive the Outlander and i disagree that it doesn't drive well, i enjoy everything about it, and you can't beat the 10 year / 160,000km warranty it comes with
Tucson for me. Would have been great to get a Hybrid option on the Tucson like other countries.
😂😂😂
Price, practicality, ride, features and running cost the Outlander is the winner for me. I've got my PHEV 2023 2 weeks ago in Sydney and I loving it. It is a very good upgrade from my old toyota Kluger.
Clearly Richard Berry hates Mitsubishi. All of the other reviews online of the Outlander have been very favourable. I just driven a CX5, Forester and Outlander. The Outlander feels the most premium and I think you need to get tape measure, because the interior is length is 10cm longer than the Forester and 14cm longer than the CX5.
Very true
Agree brought a Forester ... test drove all others, most felt cheap, poorly made, but the Forester is comfortable and feels more sturdy and value for $$$
Mitsubishi didn't pay this guy.. all he said about the outlander is straight up lie.
In the USA it’s 10 years or 100,000 miles. It’s illegal for them to require maintenance at a dealer to maintain the warranty.
Best choice...the ones choosing any other are def. dumb
Compared to the Outback, Off road analysis/videos show the turbo in the Outback gets totally in the way of performance when climbing, as the Forester's new gearing and software changes bring much more to the equation over the turbo, in my opinion. ruclips.net/video/ZF_JtgJ7aKQ/видео.html
No rock climbing, but adventuring, all day long...

I remember that haha
Ha Ha.. i'm on the Sportage, btw i'm not as tall as this dude otherwise i would get the Telluride, so my wife and i we went looking for the new Sorento initially but tested both and the new Sportage was also available at the dealer we just got it last month in full trim same green-olive color couldn't be much happier.. we simply love it..

The Kia is like a breath of fresh air,
the exact opposite to this video review.

Edit: Love that forester won. Comfort and utility are #1 in a compact suv, excited to order my own!
I have mine from few days (My22 - Sport) and it's fantastic
Agreed, I bought a forester 2 months ago and love it, have a 1 year old and there is some much room! Perfect family car.
Car reviews are an overcooked market, but I like your take on this, good work
The outlander seemed amazing for the price point. The reviewer seemed biased, and acted as if it was suppose to give you a Range Rover experience smh

Richard, Great Review and always enjoyed your honest feedback! Keep up the great work and wishing you all the best for more reviews.
My outlander feels good
Richard, never mentioned the Subarus height advantage over the others.
I own a 5 YO Hyundai diesel Tucson,
My next SUV will def be a Subie out back or forrester, prob Outback as recently released 90% redesigned, Celt for the engine power of which I believe a turbo is in the wings.
Went for a test drive of Tucson, Sportage and Tiguan. I would go with Tucson by looking at Tech and safety. Transmission wise Tiguan is a marvel. The cheapest one of these is Sportage.

Factor in the first 5 services are only $199AUD each.
Very fun and great review brotha!!
It's funny, I guess Mitsubishi offers a better warranty in the US: 10 year/100,000 power train, 6 year/100,000 miles bumper to bumper. And my el-cheapo Mirage came with a top quality portfolio with all the manuals.
Awesome video. Love your humor. Tx
I have a 22 Tucson hybrid and I love it! The 23 Sportage is not out in Canada yet, I just love the design of it.
Great review - really handy for the research i'm doing atm on all these cars (except the Mitsi) for our next car now we have a baby.. cheers Rich.
Mitsubishi look a lot better then Subaru design that right I got a 2022 outlander
Great, entertaining review! Refreshing change from typically shouty, humorless US reviewers.
Outlander and Sportage 👍👍👍
You honestly think they wont get 5 stars?
Great vid guys, but if you are showing shots and rapidly cutting between cars please add a title to indicate what car I am looking at. Cheers, keep up the great writing and material. :)
Kia looks great. About time Mitsubishi did something new with the Outlander.....just like the Triton needs an interior redesign.
Mitsubishi Outlander:
An impressive 86% "quality " and "reliability" rate by "JD POWER"
An impressive 47% "resale value" after 5 years of ownership by "CAR EDGE
Amazing power train warranty of 10 years
One of the safest cars on the market, with 11 airbags
The outlander's seat was slide forward a lot when comparing the leg room. He is being very subjective here so it's not fair
How is the suspension in Sportage in comparison to Mazda cx-5? Which one is more comfortable on bad roads and which one has better noise isolation?
Love my new Forester. Yes it doesn’t have the modern tech look on the inside with massive screens but it’s very practical, super comfortable and just simple all for a great price.
Why subaru engines fail

Exactly, same here, plus so many security features. Great car, and I love the CVT!

So true , and I have ordered Kia GT line petrol turbo looking at all these reviews.
My rating
Forester 8/10
Tucson 8.4/10
Outlander 9.5/10
Sportage 9.8/10
Nothing beats Subie ,ordered my 2nd subie 2022 forestor after 2013 forestor (Still rolling like its First day ) and can't wait !
Pick my MY22 up tomorrow! Can't wait!
@@SteveC-Aus enjoy your new Forester ,can I ask how long did take to arrive ? Thanks
What trim did you go with?
@@flat_life750 I went for 2.5i S ,my current forestor was valued very well in trade in so I didn't mind getting top range one .
The Tucson still better in every thing
I'm glad I'm not the only one who didn't find the Outlander seats to be comfortable in this trim. I just couldn't find a sweet spot when adjusting the seat. Oddly, the suede looking ones were more comfortable. Even more odd, I found that the dark color leather seats are more comfortable than the white leather seats in the Outlander. That may just be me because I can't explain how just the change in color could result in a more comfortable seat.
I really liked your review.
Especially the 4 screens mode at the start was very helpful to see with one you like more, front back and interior!!! I ha e to aggree with you about the forester, now let's compare forester with another 3 suv so I will make my final decision LOL,
Thanks
He didn't give much attention to the outlander..it was the best choice
I was thinking the same thing, however many products impress in isolation, but flaws become glaringly obvious when doing back to back comparisons
What year?
Richard, I have finally put my finger on why I like your reviews. It is obvious that you love your job. You have such delight as you share your experience of the vehicles. Thank you and keep up the great work.
Great review... didn't you find the Forester cabin a bit noisy though?
I liké mitsubishi Outlander
