- What does a full battery on a 100% stock Surron X? In this video I attempt to go from my house to a mountain summit with using the list amount of roads possible. This is my first off road Sur Ron e-bike test and I was impressed!

Finally someone who posts a video showing what these bikes are really capable of. Great video!
Fat people are better for testing these things.... A RC car motor can pull this guy...
@@tjinspace7001 He looks normal sized to me. I'm not sure those things are made for fat people.
@@HardBoiledGregADV Nothings made for fat people
@@HardBoiledGregADV fat person wanna ride a bike? Lol
I was thinking the same thing... It's a dirt bike but like no one takes them off road 😂. Finally a real review
looks crazy fun, thanks for sharing man!
Dude that was a dope run! Keep em coming bud!
Thanks for the video!!
where is this location looks beautiful
They should add a search feature in comments cause you have a lot of comments. Looks like you got the 4 hours out of the battery, how long was your trip? Have you found an average distance or time for the stock bike?
Is this capital forest/capital peak off Sherman valley /waddell creek
At low speed it sounds like you’re being followed by a nervous chicken.
Haha true
That is HILARIOUS! That gave me a nice chuckle.....
i cant unhear that now lmao
Hahaha dfq
I thot it sounded like he was being pursued by a radio controlled car
That bike is incredible.....I thought the bike would have literally cracked in half trying to go through that type of terrain....ebikes have come a long way
Yeah I was surprised my sister got this bike and the first day I rode it I ordered mine. I had no idea they were this good!
I'm a little late but it seem there are some serious updates for that shit...impressive in stock form
@@ferrallderrall6588 not sure if you’ve seen other videos on this ebike but some RUclipsr made some upgrades and it pushes 22 hp and up to 82 mph
@@Passionfriut that's convincing power ,is the duration on the battery ok?
Ive used my bike really hard last years summer and it just keeps on going. Really well build.
"Oh ive been to those rocks before! Those are really fun rocks." I love it. The world needs so much more of that right there.
Those rocks are the best! But they might be snowed out already we just got four inches last night. I guess we'll have to do a video there on the snowmobiles haha
@@EdwinOlding nice, thatd be worth watching, i cant wait for snow. The worse the blizzard the better. New England has this cool thing where we go from like 10° and snowing to 78° and sunny every week though so its always a gamble.
I'm doubting it but is this mount baldy in British Columbia?
@@johnbaum1000 no they live in Coeur d'Alene Idaho.

Big News! Sur Ron rider caught on video NOT terrorizing streets and bike paths! Great to see someone actually challenging these bikes.
Electronic dirt bike is awesome. Enough said
It is a blast!
@@EdwinOlding I remember seeing an electric dirt bike racing around a track. It absolutely kicked ass. Can't wait to see more content
Great video right through to the end mate! This is exactly the ive done for decades, my dirt bikes just attract trouble with the noise and i keep wrecking e.bikes. Didn't think the Surron was as tough, but you given me the confidence in it here, Magic! Ive put a deposit for delivery in 3 wks. Already looking for a 58 tooth rear before its arrived! Cheers for sharing Ed.
Hey bro, is it perhaps okay that I use some parts of your videos for our upcoming socials & website? with credits of course :)
I have to say Sur-Ron is the most fun electric bike out there. I drove a street legal version this summer and it was amazing. Best regards all the way from Finland! 👋🏻
Oh that sounds really fun exclamation point is the powertrain different on that version?
@@EdwinOlding It gives you full power until you hit the speed limiter. In Finland it is registered as a moped so the top speed is about 50km/h.
I can hear someone in their dead tesla now "can you bring me 3kw please?"
Haha
Hard cut off out of nowhere means that your battery ran out of juice quicker than the % meter thingy thought it had and the voltage was just too low.
Common in lower temperatures.
Probably it is for battery protection.
Yewww
hey there nice video I live 1hr and 23mins away from you guys where all the videos are shot and that hill that you could not even do on your 250 dirt bike I bet I could we need to ride sometime and show me that hill and i will put my money where my mouth is lol
@@wyatteveland3632 for real love to tear it up in the spring! I sold my 250 and I'm going to buy a KTM 300 so with a bike that runs decent maybe we can both crush it!
I just saw a sur ron in the background of your recent video. I’ve been looking into getting one of these. Then I get this video recommended! Nice!
Awesome bike, that battery stress is incredibly anoyying though. Once all day battery’s become a thing i am definitely going to get one
I wonder that if we would change tires with road bike tire, how does it effect the range of this bike? Because Long distance travels will be also fun with this thing
So how far did you make it? Wasn’t that the whole point to learn? I’d like to know.
Very nice ride. Thanks for showing what the bike can do. Very curious about the 6% battery shut off. I'm sure you show why in another video. Cheers!
"holy shit cleetus that deer is going super speed"
"If this happened to you, in a car, in the middle of nowhere, you would be pretty screwed"
*lol* thats happened to me before. That last 10% really disappears quickly. Lucky me I was only two miles from the charging station in the middle of nowhere.
Can't wait to get back on my Sur Ron!!
How many miles do you think this whole run was?
Also pondering that..
One thing you might want to think about and that's get a spare battery so if you're out in the middle of nowhere at least you have a back up
That's what i keep thinking too, but how/where would you carry a spare out there by yourself?
After owning a mule, a horse, Few mountain bikes, More Husky and KTM , a 4x4, and Vibram sole, i would praise and enjoy 2022 for a great century to get there and do exactly the same with a Sun Ron .
love the weather and the challenging progression .
"I've been to those rocks over there. Those are really cool rocks!"
Are u from grind hard plumbing co
Yeah its me Edwin haha
@@EdwinOlding wow
I like your content :)
Hey thanks I'm glad you dig it!
I was thinking about one of these to hunt the mountains, when you fell off and stumbled down the hill, I was picturing that with a 60lb pack on. Probably hurt
Для вас это Off-Road а для нас Россиян это дороги.
Synergy controller and LiteSpeed battery!! 58t rear sprocket and primary chain conversion..this setup will have your face hurting from grinning so much
Okay I'll do it! I'll have a lot of time to tune up the bike in the winter for sure
there is a wait list for every controller imaginable. surronshop sells the synergy (great guys) talk to Dan Orlov he will take care of you
Oh my god what I wouldn't give for that electric dirt bike!!! I don't normally enter giveaways but this would be one I would definitely enter!
That is as long as Canada is included! 🇨🇦
We do include Canada in our giveaways!
It's really throwing me off how the bars and brake levers look just like a MTB's.
it's not full on electric dirt bike, more like something between MTB and dirt bike
They are bike parts. Downhill bike parts
How long does the battery actually last then ? It’s seems like a reasonable price for the amount of fun but a little high in all realness it’s £4195 here in 🇬🇧
Do you know if these bikes are still as expensive in the UK? Did you buy one after? How much and where?
I have a Sur Ron X black edition with a 60v-32a/h battery. 17-20 miles max range doing offroad. Going from a 54tooth to a 60 tooth rear sprocket didn't change the range much. Yeah, pretty lame range for what you pay on one of these bikes.
I then upgraded the controller to BAC4000 and did stock battery bypass. Range was about the same, maybe 1-2 miles less on 7000W setting (stock controller is about 5000W.)
I then upgraded to a 60V/60a/hr battery and range is 26-29 miles. Kinda lame after having spent $1700 on that battery.
What brand battery? Im looking at chi 60v
Sick video, very chill and easygoing. Keep it up :)
Hey thanks glad you like the style!
that looks like simple awesome fun. something to be said for the lack of noise too... really changes the experience compared to a dirt bike
It is so peaceful! Its like an adrenaline filled meditation!
I think electric bikes need a granny low gear for those steep hills. Gears aren't necessary, but they could come in handy for that hill.
You obviously don't fear the trail less traveled. There's an ad on battery that you can pack or strap on to extend your range. The video quality is kinda like shrooming
you guy are the first person in the world to add reverb in a forest outdoor scene.... CONGRATULATIONS !!!!
This video was Aces man. I am considering the purchase of one of these and the range is a concern. I think I am good based on where I live and where I want to ride. Enjoyed the video. Great work.
Hey glad you like it I had a blast filming it!
Nice video man! I could totally agree about all the excitement, adventures and exploration the Sur Ron opens for ya. I've found so many cool spots in my neighborhood alone that I've never thought of, and counting!
My Sur Ron dies at 7% as well. The low voltage cutoff occurs. Question though, as you got home and recharge the battery, did your charger had a hard time recognizing the battery at 6% or it just recharged normally?
It's so true! So when I got home I plugged it in and it charged just as normal. so I guess that means the battery did a good job of protecting itself. did you have to jump start the battery or something to get your charger to recognize it? either way I'm assuming it's not great for the battery so I'm going to try to always be back at the truck before I hit 15% in the future
If the battery gets too hot (hard throttle or consistent hard throttle until the very end) it will cut out sooner and might not charge right away, you just have to let the battery cool down and then it will charge like normal. If you baby the throttle when flashing, you can go down to 0. I've done it once or twice, unfortunately. Not good to take the battery that low and it gets really hot when down to flashing levels if you try to push it.
Best Suron vid Ive seen , proper testing in real conditions.
I'll have to say Id have a go at that with my 2.5KW DH bike.
I just bought one and am getting the pedal kit to make it "legal"
Nice! You won't regret it!
That's what I did, and I've never had any issues riding anywhere
Do the pedals continually spin while riding in electric?
@@James23crf no
@@James23crf I got the kaniwaba pedal kit I recommend it over the kit from Luna. It’s only for looks though it doesn’t actually work to pedal the bike.
I am amazed that it can take that much abuse and keep ticking. Really impressive. Kind of annoying that the bike shuts off before it reaches 0%. 6% should mean you can still keep going. Otherwise there should be a way to recalibrate the percentage so 0 corresponds to shutoff. Great video.
What I noticed on mine, was that depending on how hard you are throttling at the end, will greatly impact where it finally dies. I was able to get mine down to 0, but I was at a crawl and trying to get home....barely made it, at 0.
Battery sag. They don't drain linearly.
You're not supposed to kill lithium batteries, it's probably a protective measure or battery sag. With older or not properly used batteries, internal cell resistance increases. This causes the voltage to "sag" a lot more when higher amperage is drawn. The voltage will drop under it's true value and slowly recover. This can push batteries below a safe voltage which would result in the bikes failsafe cutting off battery power.
My man!! I asked for some sur ron videos and your doing just that. I want one of these bikes so bad man. Im subbed
Hey glad to hear it they're a blast! We are giving one away with grind hard plumbing Co right now
Awesome ride,...your brutal to the bike,...i really surprised it didn't break....I think the Sur Ron is for me
This is exactly one of the types of content I’m going to make I loved every bit of this. The videoing and commentary and views were magnificent. New subscriber keep it up good sir
EDWIN WHY ARENT YOU MAKING CRAZY SHT?!?! Just found this as I am about to buy my first Ebike...algorythm got me here. Subbed.
Yea battery design just isnt there yet to justify buying these for me. Why would i spend $4400 on a bike that after 500 rides needs its battery replaced, takes 3 hours to charge yet only operates for 20-30 miles with a top speed of 45mph. When a dirt bike for the same price will go around 90mph, has more power and a range of 50-60 miles per gallon. If it runs out, carry a little 16oz bottle of fuel and you can still go home. Electric bikes just aint it yet.
WHAT'S THE total MILEAGE FOR GOD SAKE? Ohhhh Jesus I watched all that video and there is no mileage...
I didn't realize this was fan made until I saw a comment mentioning it, very good, I like it👍
I plan on buying one but Im 6,1 and 85kg (187lbs) would you recommend it for someone Over 6ft the just looks small and I’m worried it will be a mistake purchasing one
All the talk how the stock wheels are junk…. You’ve impressed me taking that little bike up those $hitty trails… I wouldn’t even do those on my KDX200… I’m definitely getting one of these bikes.. so I can stop watching these videos and ride instead
For anyone that buys one of these don't call your local bike shop and ask them if they work on E-mountain bikes then bring this in!
Haha true
I've been curious on this as well, thanks for putting this together.
Add a switch for the light saves abit more battery 🔋👌🏼
That bike is lovely and the rode was alone be careful always brother 🤝💕👍🙏
Yeah I take it a little easy alone but sometimes I get carried away
@@EdwinOlding thats great bro, you know what hills have eys 😜🤝anyway its a great blog, and waiting for more videos from you. Stay safe and stay healthy 👍🙏❤️🤝
If these bikes were £2000 it would be a steal, I wouldn't pay more then that, more then double that is too much and it would cost too much upgrading and replacing parts, you buy a £4700 bike that probably needs that spending on it again with upgrades to handle the dirt bike speeds and forces.
How about to instal a PAS? It will prolong your battery and it can save you from moments like in the last 4 minutes of your video.
I would want to mtb that trail, would be sick.
I want to do it in the spring for sure! Don't have a MTB yet though
Where did you order and do you recommend getting this still. Lost my d.l. for 6 months over a bullshit weed dui gona pull the trigger on one soon and looking for the best bang for my buck. Thanks.
Very cool bike. I'm hooked on Grind Hard and expect the same with your channel.
Oh I don't think I'll have the time to make the videos as good as grind hards but I'll do my best haha

Oh so actually it's like a Google Pixel instead of an iPhone. They had a class action for the phones just dying with far more than 1%.
I have to say, I really thought I was watching a, this guy went missing video. LOL. Good review!

Damn why would you buy one of these when bikes like the specialized levo exist?! Just looks like some heavy chinese junk!!
Hey buddy I know this video is 3 years old so I hope you see my message. It looks like you beat this light bee x are they tough? Did it last? Thanks
Finally a video showing similar to what I'd be doing and not just a bunch of kids in cities 🤦
Looks like the channel is picking up steam. Good going on the content bro keep er up !
Thanks will do!
A real dirt bike would rip up that hill so much better and the battery life on that makes it completely unusable for a real outing. Big pass.
upgrade to a 72 volt 40 ah batter what im doing going 80 ah tho XD and also upgrading the controller to take avantag3e of all that volts
That's frikin awesome man just a chill cruise into the mountains. I've been a gasser my whole life when I first heard about these zapper bikes I thought there is a whole new opening for these things. Especially in town where there are noise restrictions. I frikin want one.
It should help keep dirt bike trails open too! No more noise or pollution? Nothing left to complain about!
Jack at HP logic. He has a youtube channel as well. But its everything cars , scooters, a bikes and jet skies. Everything with power. He has a seron that does like 80. He builds them. Does battery upgrades and computer mods. You name it. He would be a good one to ask questions about batteries and upgrades.
Thanks I will look him up for sure sounds awesome!
man too bad u didnt turn around at 45 % instead of hitting that hill 3 more times :'D where can we buy something like this and is it street legal?
You should've recorded it 1080p 60 fps
Great test of the bike! Are you one of the Grind Hard Plumbing dudes?
get that stupid bike outa here when they get rid of the motorbike looking tank we can talk.. falcon v2 all the way
For light down hill your better iff turning off the regen mode and coasting more great video got a sub g8nna watch more haha
Our childhood dream right there !
haven't really ridden a dirt bike before, an electric version really speaks to me though. I live in the city and can use it legally with no plates but also have fun in the trees and hills. it's light enought to take it on a train north and get on more rural area. Seems fun as hell. Seems accessible.
Electric bike are perfect to learn on!
It looks fun on 2 wheels, I would surely have fun practicing riding wheelies. Then after mastering them I'd riding wheelies everywhere
That is the plan for me for sure! I suck at wheelies right now
stand on the pegs!!!
Put the weight on the tires!
Edit: your rear tire is still fine!! Just needs the weight on it!
@edwin Olding this video was 25 mins long how long was the actual ride? Also what was your elevation gain?
Yeah great question
I know I was waiting for final mileage!
I too would love to know how long that ride actually was, how much time driving like you did can you get out of a stock battery?
Bro before you go to trail compute first your destination to calculate your battery and you have a bag get spare battery
Which is preferable, the Sur Ron, or the Segway version? I like the idea of the Segway app to control the settings, rather than sequential button presses on the Sur Ron. However, i would still want the aftermarket part upgrades available for the Sur Ron. Though, the aftermarket parts should, in theory, work for both bikes since they are built the same.
Probably the sur Ron in my opinion, an app is just unnecessary in my opinion
I don't know about ebikes, are they waterproof? Does it need a plate number?
just a little advice next time you go out during hunting season please where something hunter orange.
Low voltage protection. That’s why it stopped after 6%
most people get hurt on combustion bikes because they get wrapped with it in the crash.
Is it normal to click when you accelerate uphill and it stops engine like not enough power type thing
Had no clue these things were that durable. Doubt it could do that with a 280 lb me on it tho.
Ur gonna spend more time pushing that thing than riding it unless you take better note of your battery depletion
Okay the rest of this shouldn't be to bad.... Famous last words?
hey can you take a battery with you in your backpack and swap over or is it too heavy and expensive?
So can you go to the MTB’s trails or do you have to go to different type of trails more like dirt bike trails?
Assisted only on mountain bike trails this is a electric dirtbike mountain bikers will get pissed if you take it on mtb trails
Hey bro, next time keep a spare battery with you in your backpack! Lol
