I live in Texas, and my folks lived in Judsonia until they passed away, so I must have gone right past Y'all every time I came to visit them during the Holidays.
Very to see old people do this they one I been watching, someone that's takes there time and joy, of do something very nice from there hands . Keep it up.
From one old codger to another, greetings ! Regret I’m a disabled vet. from the U K , just signed one to your site. From what I can see you sure seem to know what you both are doing ! It’s looking great. I can’t wait until your next video is shown, thank you. Stay safe, stay well , all the best from Canterbury Kent UK.
Thanks! We are definitely learning a lot as we go. We will try to post one video a week and maybe some short clips of details and technices we have learned. Hope you enjoy them! Nice to hear from someone from the UK!!
I just came across your channel tonight July 9th and I love how you work together and your craftsmanship. Great job 👏 Now I need to do a lot of catching up, but that’s what I like! ✌🏼❤️🙏🏼
Welcome Mark! So glad you are enjoying the videos. We are trying to post one every Wednesday. We were a little late this week because we are volunteer firefighters and there was a big structure fire that put us behind a bit. Thanks so much for watching!😊👍
I just found your channel and subscribed. I love these types of videos, outdoors, working with wood, cooking and of course, having dogs around. Look forward to all your videos.
I just found your site watched 2 videos and subscribed You have your work cut out for you. I built my log home from a kit when I was 40 years old and had 2 teenage boy to help with heavy lifting. I hope your body can take it. I know at 82 I sure couldn't do it now
So far we are doing ok! It is a lot more work than we were expecting, but we have got stronger as we go. We also have a little crane for the heavy lifting. We have posted videos of our progress so far. Thanks for watching!
Love this. Great job working together. I can’t get my wife to help me weed in the garden 😂. She’s helping you build a dream. Beautiful. Your chainsaw skills are amazing sir. I’ve been trying to cut straight with my chainsaw for years and I always over cut the line. That Crain doohickey is awesome, wish I had one.
thanks! we’ve always worked really good together. we pretty much do everything together. she loves to be outside and she also has a huge garden😂😂 she is helping me build a beautiful cabin. I don’t know about my chainsaw skills, they’re OK I guess. The little crane is fantastic everybody should have one, we could not do this without that little crane😁
I just found y’all on you tube and watching part 1 now. I am a young woman of 76 from Fouke Arkansas. Sure wish I was had been able to help you with this build as I LOVE log cabins. Got a lot of catching up to do but I know that I am going to love your build.
Welcome Brenda! Nice to hear from another Arkansas resident! We love log cabins too! Always wanted to try to build one. Got a little bit of a late start, but I guess late is better than never! Glad you are enjoying the build😊🌷
This proves one thing for sure. YOUR NEVER TO OLD TO START BUILDING YOUR DREAM. LOVE YOUR VIDEOS KEEP THEM COMING.STAY SAFE AND MAY GOD BLESS YOU BOTH.
Such hard work, but the labor of love shows with each piece ~ so proud of you guys! We want to be just like you when we grow up 😆😉 it's looking beautiful! #couplegoals
Very nice! What you have done so far looks great, and you have made a lot of progress in a short amount of time. Looking forward to seeing the next stage!
Hey just came across your video and love the content. Great job and a new big fan here. Your doing what I wish I could do. Keep up the awesome videos and thank you very much. New sub here!
Thank you for subscribing! We will try to post each week. Should have some shorter details videos also. Just takes a lot of time to edit. Mostly just work on videos on days with bad weather 😁
I just found your channel and enjoy your videos. You two do beautiful work. Like you I am not a spring chicken. And have been looking for property for last year to build a cabin. You are a inspiration. Look forward to more videos
You are the inspiration I need for the future. Never is late to make reality your dreams. Hope to do something similar in the future. Good luck and and enjoy this amazing journey.
Just started watching your series. Your carburetor needs to be disassembled completely and cleaned. That "hunting" sound you hear is old gas. If you can find ethanol free fuel. You won't have anymore problems. Nice videos.
Indy the black and brown one is a kelpie. They are from Australia. Brody the spotted one is a rescue. He is probably a kelpie and border collie mix. Both are really good boys!
They varied a bit, 8 to 12 inches. We alternated fat ends. We went back after we had them all in and put one more big brace log all the way across the middle under them. That really sturdied it up. It is very solid with that addition. The centers were every 16 inches, so that made it really strong.
Good morning. I’ve committed to watching all of your log cabin build video’s after seeing your chicken coop build. I’ll have many questions I’m sure, hope you don’t mind. What is the whiteish colored powder in the floor joist nock at roughly the 6:16 mark of this video?
It is called solubor. It is a water soluble form of boric acid. It has two purposes it prevents rot if any moisture gets in there and it also deters bugs. anything that eats it or eats the wood that it soaked into it dies, but it’s not toxic otherwise like a lot of poisons are. It’s similar to the powder, they sell, called roach proof. We also diluted it with water and some nontoxic antifreeze like they use in camper lines to spray allof our logs with after they were peeled. We are using pine, so it helps to kill any boring insects and also helps prevent rot. you can find exact recipes online. Some agricultural supply stores sell it, but we had to order ours online. We couldn’t find it anywhere at local stores.
No, but that would be a good idea if you want to. We could not get rebar here when we did the foundation due to Covid. All the lumber yards were completely out.
New subscriber here! Just found your channel! Question: how deep did you pour cement before you put the blocks on top? Also are your first beams attached to the cement blocks? Enjoying your progress!!
The cement was 16” deep but that may need to be deeper in colder areas. You should go deep enough to be below the freeze line. The beams are attached. I put all thread (a metal bar with threads on it) into the cement pad. Then drilled holes and put first beams over that and a washer and nut on top. We filled the cement blocks with cement. Logs are really heavy so it wouldn’t hurt to put even more piers than we did.
😂😁That would be fun! Not sure how excited they would be though😂 Our son lives in Florida, so that would be a bit of a trip. Although we did drive down to help him put in some hurricane windows a while back🤔😁
Just found your channel, have you built like this before? Have you seen "My Self Reliance"? Shawn James and he's building with almost no power tools. He needs a crane like that.
This is our first log build. But yes we have watched Shawn for quite a while. He was an influence in our decision to actually jump in and give it a go. We both have back trouble…3 surgeries between us, so the crane was not an option. We already had it for Lances business, so we put it to good use! It’s old like us, but still works!😁
@@natureartgirl What is the name of the crane you have. I am looking for one for my log cabin in KY. Or if you have any info on where one would be. I want to start searching for one now. Thanks in advance.
@@nicholasprost4347 it is an EZ-hauler 2500. It’s pretty old, but you might be able to find a newer version of it. It has an auger attachment too. Some come with a man lift bucket. It is used for setting poles mostly. Hope you can find one. They sure are handy😊👍
@@natureartgirl l love your videos and have been bingeing on them for the last day or two. You two are excellent log engineers and are endearing with your teamwork. Looking forward to much more from you. Kind regards from Pete, Melbourne Australia.
Thanks Pete! Glad you are enjoying them! We have always wanted to visit Australia. We have the appropriate dogs! Indy is a full blood kelpie and we think Brody is kelpie/border collie mix. Not sure about him because we got him from a rescue. A cattle farmer got rid of him because he was chasing his cows🤣🤣

Thank you Barbara. It didn’t look like much when we started, but we love how it turned out. It was a lot of work but super fun to build 😊

Thanks! I have to take good care of him. Good men are hard to come by👍😊
One hell of a man. And he is not young but works with more energy than many young men.
So true! That’s why I married him 44 years ago😁Thanks for your comment, it made his day!
