Far be it from me to think I know more about the game than Whityyy, who has like 12k hours, but yeah I really feel like the D and C tiers should be swapped. Maybe leave vanilla romero in D
I gotta agree tbh. Generally at the range you're using shotguns then the Romero is your death on a first shot miss, which is insanely punishing compared to every other shotgun. And, y'know, everyone misses sometimes. I run shotguns most of the time and will never touch one. Great range, cheap, fatal flaw.
Romero is a great budget option, IF you can hit your shot. It has great range and will teach you shotgun discipline. For that reason, it makes sense that it has a mixed ranking. Though, putting it in at least the C or even B tier for it's budget, cost to effectiveness ratio would be worth mentioning.
Romero shines in positional game in compound you know perfectly, but universal usage... yeah, I would prefer to have double barrel in forest fights more for sure

I may haveissed it, but did you explain why you didn't include the shorty shotguns? I find that they are very versatile, esp with traits. E.g., Levering with the shorty Terminus for clearing compounds, or using the shorty Romero with the axe to overcome the one shot reload issue in CQB.

30m buckshot fulldamage from rival... okay, I am weak player who started to play relatively recently (about 1month ago and got 170 hours) and I am so curious about this analytics My aim is not good and while I am trying to get better - I was skipping the shotguns for large time of my gaming expirience as I though they couldn't teach me good However with slight progression on my confidency in aim I decided to start using them as I like to play agressively and they fits my playstyle I was using the rival and liked it when started to play the game... and when I came back to it... I felt something strange. Like it couldn't kill the enemy in 8m with buckshot and even on 14m 2 shots are usually not enough That was weird... As the iteration of prestige cicle was ending I started to waste money on crown n king and damn...even on match where things were going fine - all kills that I made NEVER were in one shot. its absolute disaster. I understand that its basically related to the movement and aim of good players that makes the situations where actually the damage of all shotguns overal perfroms the same (oneshot). But mentioning that buckshot may oneshot the enemy on the range up to 30m? even on shooting range you could never do such thing. Maybe only you'll be lucky enough to lend a headshot
drop range is bullet drop range not damage drop off edit: after 30 meters the bullets start "dropping" aka gravity kicks in. It has nothing to do with damage
I have no data to explain it but I, too, have the Slate as my go to buckshot-shotgun since its introduction to the game. I like the Crown&King with Slugs but with Buckshot the Slate is the only shotgun that feels kiiinda reliable. It's not perfect and it has let me down often enough, but no nearly as much as the others.
When i played a year ago, terminus levering flechette was my go to. Even on long range you could hipfire cus of the tiny spread. And it guaranteed a speedy 2 shot at close range. The new update added recoil to shotguns. The Crown kicks like a mule and messes up your view. You can't spam it like in old Hunt unless you want your whole screen to shake. The new Avtomat is more manageable, for reference. Specter and Rival have low recoil with repeat shot-which imo makes the now top meta shotguns. Slate and Terminus have some recoil but not as much as Crown, so spam is somewhat manageable. But not something one should rely on; hence why accuracy, field of view and repeat shot are more important.
Lol is this bad. The bomb lance - can melee & silently down every boss - can use separate ammo slots - so you can equip pvp steelbolts and pve bombs - you have a deadly melee attack with 1m range, in boss lair fights and stuff this can be even better than a shotgun. - it‘s relatively cheap So basically, bomb lance is a, at least b tier. Wouldn’t give it a s tier tho. Romero is also S, at least A tier. Cheap, deadly, and the reload time of 2 seconds is not that horrible if you think about other pumpguns which have also a shoot delay of a second like specter or terminus (w/o levering)

Lol is this bad. The bomb lance
- can melee & silently down every boss
- can use separate ammo slots - so you can equip pvp steelbolts and pve bombs

- it‘s relatively cheap
