Being a drummer trying it to play this song: Yes, it's hellish difficult. The song belongs to those "easy listening" ones - until you try to play it yourself.

Fun fact: Mike Campbell co-wrote this song with Don Henley after Mike’s bandmate rejected it. Who was that bandmate? The late great Tom Petty.

This cover was released back in 2023, but Don Henley filed a complaint about this video and had to be removed from the channel. Now it has appeared again. Probably the financial issue has been resolved.

I''m disappointed that Don would file a complaint for such a beautiful reproduction of a cherished song. If anything he should be proud that the song is being shared to millions more people who would otherwise not be exposed to it.

I've been a Don Henley and the eagles fan since a school mate gave me his hotel California album on 12" vinyl back in 1977. I've seen the eagles 3 times over the years once at Wembley in 96, once at Twickenham in 06 , and again in the BIA in 09 . Don Henley is a huge talent and god bless him for the joy his and his fellow eagle members have given us over 50+ years, but if he doesn't like this wonderful rendition of his own classic then I hope not, surely he would be happy to endorse fellow talented musicianship and passion to bring it to the millions watching this extraordinary group of talented people ❤
I love that there's so much precision and musicianship and you still can tell there's no autotune or even pitch correction, just sheer talent 👏

Yes, Henley is a master lyricist. I've heard Don Felder talk about his time with the Eagles and how amazing Henley was with lyrics. He (Felder) was in awe almost constantly.

Yes massive as in restrained/self-control/ on beat/ keep it simple goes a longer ways than trying to stand out and dominate the rest of the band. 'that's how a successful band and the members of the band work together to become a successful band. I'm sure if a song called for a bass solo' he's more than capable than the average bass player to shred an pull it off.

There will never be music better than the 80's 😎. I was fortunate to have graduated in 1980. I had just turned into an adult and was now free to get into the night clubs. I will never forget this music pumping through the speakers, colorful lights, dancing our hearts out 😂

Darren - perfect synth voicing on the Roland; what is the other keyboard, can't quite see the logo. Sounded spectacular! Bass=perfect. Drums=perfect, even all the tricky bits. Lead Guitar=OMG, nailed it, perfection in the sounds and approach. And lead vocal? Shaun, holy cow. You don't realize just how high this tenor part is unless you TRY it! Great backing vocals, Darren. SO MUCH great music comes out of that tiny basement studio in Adelaide!
