i cant believe nobody said this yet but, CONGRATULATIONS NOT PARADOX ON HITTING GRAND FUCKING MASTER! YOU TOTALLY DESERVE IT AND YOUR VIDEOS ARE SO INFORMATIVE AND FUCKING AWESOME! WHAT YOU DO FOR THE COMMUNITY IS AMAZING AND I HOPE TO ONE DAY BE GOOD ENOUGH TO PLAY WITH YOU EVEN IF ITS JUST CASUAL GAMES ON A SMURF!
You should do a video about the mind of a grandmaster probius and cover how to deal with the blatant disregard others have for your feelings as they choose to destroy your pylons over destroying you.
Really enjoyed the video, abathur is one of my best heroes and I learned a lot here. Probably my favorite thing you mentioned was how as the game goes on, the need for prioritizing XP diminishes as opposed to focusing on winning a team fight and helping your teammates out. I feel like my mid-game as abathur tended to leave me split between soaking and helping the team. Very helpful, keep the videos coming man.
"Watching the minimap is very important on...on, what's his name?" Every hero I guess :D but ye as Aba you'll be punished very hard for not doing this.
This was a super helpful play through to watch. This and the Li-ming play on Blackheart's Bay have taught me so much. Thanks for putting out so much useful information, not only in those, but in all of your content.
The advice in this video rocks! Definitely subscribing. I followed this advice because as a level 900+ QM player, my Ab play was horrible. 1st game following this advice was great, 2nd game took MVP. Right on man, keep the videos coming!
Great job explaining that death timers have more importance than body soak to the second half of the game. So many players get stuck in a mindset of always returning to body soak somewhere leaving themselves vulnerable to ganks and thereby rending a team from a sudo 4 man with global to an actual 4 man with very little roaming threat (team usually is forced into their own base)
Thanks for your video, using this build I was able to win 2 games consecutively. Love your commentaries btw, very detailed and informative. Keep it up~!
Aba is a high skill hero imo. Because to play him well you also need to understand how to play other heroes when you clone them. He also pairs well with dive assassins and heroes that brawl a lot. The mentality for this style of Aba play is to give the team that extra edge when engaging the enemy. Be it shields, vision, lane pressure, or even an extra hero. Key points to pay attention to are the map and the top HP bars. You always want to be using the mule and mines at every opportunity. With this style of play unless your teammates are a bunch of brainless monkeys you have lots of information to work with which can help in engagements with the enemy. Great video!
Great video (as expected). 2 small things that I think are worth mentioning as an enthusiastic abathur player 1) the level 7 carapace talent that shields nearby allies does absolute work versus guldan and nazeebo, and probably should have atleast been considered in this game. This is a mule map, but i cant imagine it would get too much value (and i dont think it did) when the enemy team has really good siege potential: if they storm one of your building with an objective, its probably gonna die. 2) When helping to clear waves/ siege with a single ally in lane, hatting a minion or locust with hivemind (the level 20) clears the wave faster (this nit pick is REALLY tiny but its still important, even if it clears a minion wave 0.5 seconds quicker)
@NotParadox I just randomly came across your videos. Thank you so much for your amazing gameplay while being able to teach ( mindblown!). I wish that everyone was able to watch your video on why people fight mid at low levels. Totally makes me rethink how to play. I also love aba and didn't know the spam heal trick. Thanks!
Hey, Thanks 4 your Videos. It helps me very very much to perform better in Hots. And i tried Abathur to bring him on lvl 5 and it actually works, thanks to your Video. Keep it up - you do a great Job!
i dont think he got grandmaster playing abba and the fact that his name isnt in the top 100 for abbas means he got it playing other heros i am a grandmaster abba main witch was number 88 last season and he did ex-plane the base of the heal build and did what just diamond abbas do they purpossly put the locus bot with minions so it pushes it up denying xp bot and the way he used the mines was not on par but he was explaining witch could explain how his rotations on his mines and mule were low and one thing i would like to say monstro is the one that doesent give xp the evolution gives the xp of a murky kill if you want proof turn on in the ui setting to where it shows everyones xp gain and you will see it gives basicly just 270xp when it dies none if it times out just a nitpick i do cause i am a real grandmaster abba
thanks for the video, great guide, I tried that Abathur build and found that it's a bit hard to be a healer if the team does not get that you are healing them, they usually jumped into battle whenever they had the Sbathur shield which had them loose the shield very quickly, but well, I suppose it';s a matter of communication with the team
I avoided Abathur because I could never quite get into his mindset and felt under pressure to get shit done without knowing how. I'm still more of a high-octane Zagara type, but now I understand Abathur. Thank you!
Whenever I play abathur my teammates are like “Oh, no! We will lose!” But we win anyway!lol People just don’t get how much of an impact abathur could have on a game! The sheer exp soak ability of his could be devastating in terms of getting first to ults and dominating in the fight for objectives.
Nice info, but you sit on a lot of mines, even when you bring it up you don't throw some down. like that objective around 4:20. why not make an escape path of mines for your team if the obj goes sour, or put some on the vents around the obj? or in-lane for the xp kills?
facing towards the lane really saves a lot of time over the course of the game, the locusts have to walk around abby to get to the lane if your facing the wrong way
Great take on the heal build! I think the most difficult thing that many Abathur players don't do properly is knowing where to be at what time, and how to be doing something at ALL times. The Symbiote Q/W talents work amazing with tanks/divers like Kerrigan. But I find that the toxic mines build can be extremely annoying for opponents with 40% slow at every single chokepoint/bush - great for ranged assassins to capitalize or to get away from harm. Also keep in mind that some of Abathur's abilities require you to actually "be there" and it locks you in, like the Symbiote or the Clone. This means if you have a lot of Symbiote talents, they are wasted when you are using the Clone because you can't get value from both abilities at the same time. Of course the Clone is way more powerful in a short teamfight, and the Symbiote tends to be more useful in prolonged fights, so it's just learning when to use which if you do want to go for both and understand why you're going for both.
Or you could take monstrosity, and symbiote on and off again to still drop nests and locusts. Not everybody likes the full siege build though. I like it because if the enemy team isn't focusing on it, I can make it last indefinitely and push lane hard.
you are correct i would debate the mines slow at lvl 4 because more mines lowerd the cd of the mines by 2 seconds and allso increased the max you can have witch if you fall behind on rotations on them you can get more damge out instead of just adding a slow and be more of a nuance to the enemy team
I play abathur alot, and if i was going to give you a tiny tiny tip it'd be that when playing healathur, you can get a W spike burst in with your shield since they don't share a GCD before you drop the hat. Just throws in some extra damage along with the heals
I thought the mule was useless until I watched this video. I never thought of using it as a decoy to soak damage to help out the team as well as repairing my team's towers.
hey guys used to play this awesome game while drunk and hiBh at the same time (with friends ofc) really loved it, it was about 2 years ago, how this game aged since then? Is it still popular?
Picking up this game again after 5 years :) Great video! I saw some comments in some video about the changes to laning/towers? Do you know of some video where they talk about that? Or around what year it happened so I can try to find it myself?
Very nice video. Im suprised by taking the mule but it was great seeing the healing talents properly used since I build nests. When I first started i think i tested healing, thought it was pretty much nothing and didnt try it again for ages but I have started using it recently-ish and it isnt bad. I thought that the healing was removed when i canceled paracite even with the lvl 4 talent, seeing that it dosn't really adds to the power of the build. Ill give that a try next time I play ab w/o a healer on our team. I know your team had a healer but as long as there is atleast one actual tank I doubt its a waste.
Love it, as an Aba main (in low plat only though) i usually always get shit for playing Aba, regardless of whether we win or lose, if i did well or not. I play very differently from you though, i usually go for a splitpush/hard push kind of build centered around the locusts and mines as well as the monstrosity. It has some crazy potential at 20 where you can push all lanes at the same time kind of like Vikings, but better.
I am curious, are there any builds that utilize the evolve monstrosity? I am not quite sure how to use it. To me the healing build is pretty straightforward and I understand pretty easily what I am supposed to do with it. But the monstrosity on the other hand, even when going talents to upgrade it I still find myself a little lost.
19:15 whoa wait a minute. since the dual symbiote also deal W damage, how does the heal on W talent will work? total heroes hit by both the W? or each symbiote heal based on their own W? if it's the first then that would be crazy good and that means i've been missing out O.O
Could u do a Video just like this one, but with you playing first and then commentating over it later on? Because I think u could still do way better with that hero.. what was his Name again..? .. -> But explaining while playing obviously slows u down a Little. I would love to see you in full tryhard Action on Abathur because I really want to see his full potential since I want to get better at him! Loved this Video, in my opinion great tipps and Gameplay !! Edit: Especially because mines are Ready very often but not used at all and I guess that's because you have to focus on giving good advice while playing
Man I feel so useless with Aba now since there is no more tower ammo, back in the days my mines/locust just deplete ammo and I could push easily, hope this video shows me something good to play him again :)
so....i have an question i think is rather interesting to ask. has any gm ever offlaned with kharazim? ran him as a back up healer or ran him at the same time as damage lili so that their heals can offset each other by taking damage traits and still able to heal? i've been experimenting with offlaning khara in qm (which pisses people off cause it always que's me as the main healer, but qm is meant to be practice for human pvp). so....i've noticed that khara is extremely similar to tb varian. i can do just as much damage with khara as varian, i can solo bosses, and can take a ton of damage (because i regenerate health as i attack like varian), and i've noticed i have A LOT of survivability. i can bully most offlaners off the lane if they decide to engage me (which is usually bruisers so they most likely will try to sit and fight me melee. which, khara can 1 v 1 most of them). idk, i haven't tried it in ranked yet, but it seems to work just fine in qm. be interesting if someone in ranked tried it. i don't mean he would be good necessarily in qm ranked play, just that maybe in lower ranks, where people don't know how to counter, it might be a good hero to offlane.
Not GM, but ~110 abathur here. Something I do that you didn’t mention with this build is when you Q-E-R, the GCD of the R makes it so that you can fit both W and Q in the direction of an enemy while you wait to cancel. So it becomes Q-E-W-Q-R (but really fast obviously) :3
I've been playing with this build for ~2 years now. It was even better before they gimped Abathur™ early last year. I have a feeling I may been responsible for that. I kept getting MVP and top healer with over 200k heals a game and went to diamond. They changed shortly after that.
I get yelled anytime I try to play aba even though he is my best char. I did note on multiple occasions you showed on the mini-map to your opponents, I always try to enter the "bush" from a position that I don't reveal myself so they have to look for my locust. Is that worth doing?
Generally, if there's no time loss you should do that to keep the enemy guessing. The lower the leagues, the more likely they'll try and gank you even if they lose everything else. I think the best solution is to qeue up commands with Shift while burrowing so you can keep observing your team while you reposition. The symbiote only has a 4 second cooldown, so missing out on those heals or soak hurts more than being in the perfect position. If the situation calls for it, use Symbiote on the way and finish slithering your little slug body to safety afterwards. :3
The mule isn't actually the best talent for that build, that one that spreads de shield on all nearby allies with the full shield build makes your minnion waves win everytime against the enemies minnions so that you can waste a lot of enemy xp but making the minnions die by damaging the towers by a lot. Aba was my main before, the best scenario were you can use him is in cursed hollow with a Genji or if you are very good with the trap build you can carry in dragon shrines if they use low health heroes one shoting when they try to get on the shrines by baiting them with you body, my best play with aba was in dragon shrines where I killed 2 people and nearly there Johanna two that had to back without moving because she was too scared
if you are going for a early game win yes you would be right but his team would lose early without him and he didnt focus the minion waves basicly at all just body soaked the waves that got pushed form the enemy team and if your on lets say black hearts bay, hanamura, sky temple you can make the objectives worthless for a good portion of the game if you do the rotations with your mule correctly
Those lifebinders were MONEY
👌
That lifebind was HELLA clutch.
i cant believe nobody said this yet but, CONGRATULATIONS NOT PARADOX ON HITTING GRAND FUCKING MASTER!
He is so good that he forgot his own character name
You should do a video about the mind of a grandmaster probius and cover how to deal with the blatant disregard others have for your feelings as they choose to destroy your pylons over destroying you.
Must construct additional pylons.
that is so true
He sucks big time.
Really enjoyed the video, abathur is one of my best heroes and I learned a lot here. I feel like my mid-game as abathur tended to leave me split between soaking and helping the team. Very helpful, keep the videos coming man.
Lol you called Misha Rehgar :D
because Rehgar is just addition to misha
Rehgar is a different orc, Rexxar is Misha' best friend
misha's best friend
*cough* *cough*
TECHNICALLY, Rexxar is a half-orc :D
"...pad my stats-I mean heal my team!"
"Watching the minimap is very important on...on, what's his name?" Every hero I guess :D but ye as Aba you'll be punished very hard for not doing this.
Wow this is probably the best educational commentary video I've ever seen for any game. Very impressive and informative.
When you clone, you should mount up if you are trying to move in.
This was a super helpful play through to watch. This and the Li-ming play on Blackheart's Bay have taught me so much. Thanks for putting out so much useful information, not only in those, but in all of your content.

keep up the good work, all these videos are making me and everyone else better players

This guys going thru hell!! Well ya, it was diablo haha
Dem Lifebinders were clutch as hell
I have zero understanding of this game, but I feel like I actually understood what was going on and how this character works. Great commentary!
It's great how you explain reasoning behind your actions. Made me want to try Abathur.
GrandMaster Abathur forgots the name of its charracter, i love it.
honestly this video helped me learn how to play abathur much more efficiently, thank ya mate
Great video! I have played Abathur a lot already but I play a different style. So it was great to see your playstyle and perspective!
Hey, Thanks 4 your Videos. It helps me very very much to perform better in Hots. And i tried Abathur to bring him on lvl 5 and it actually works, thanks to your Video. Keep it up - you do a great Job!
8:20 Did they change this recently? I swear I've seen XP numbers pop up from killing a clone just like any other hero.
I don't think he knows what he's talking about. Lots of mistakes here.
160 xp or somethin like that. Still xp is an xp
I think the clone gives 25% exp. Awesome video aside from that little thing tho
I agree, I'm rather confused by some of the things he said and disagree with a lot, though I did pick up a couple useful tricks!
basically 0 dual lane soak too
Oh i love this Format !
"Hey, i am Grandmaster ... ehm. What was his name again?"
i dont think he got grandmaster playing abba and the fact that his name isnt in the top 100 for abbas means he got it playing other heros i am a grandmaster abba main witch was number 88 last season and he did ex-plane the base of the heal build and did what just diamond abbas do they purpossly put the locus bot with minions so it pushes it up denying xp bot and the way he used the mines was not on par but he was explaining witch could explain how his rotations on his mines and mule were low
and one thing i would like to say monstro is the one that doesent give xp the evolution gives the xp of a murky kill if you want proof turn on in the ui setting to where it shows everyones xp gain and you will see it gives basicly just 270xp when it dies none if it times out
just a nitpick i do cause i am a real grandmaster abba
@@john_1297 use a "." ffs.. cant Read your shit comment
13:43 Well yes, he realy goes through hell from time to time
i really enjoyed this guide, and learned a lot from it. Could you maybe do this for other heroes you have a lot of experience with?
Love your videos and the in depth knowledge that you have about many situations
I really really love aba and I'm trying to learn more about him, this video helped me so much to see things I wasn't seeing. Thank u very much
I've been playing Abathur like an idiot I guess, I'll take the tips and watch more of your videos, got yourself a new subscriber!
Awesome video dude!!! Keep them coming!!!
thanks for the video, great guide, I tried that Abathur build and found that it's a bit hard to be a healer if the team does not get that you are healing them, they usually jumped into battle whenever they had the Sbathur shield which had them loose the shield very quickly, but well, I suppose it';s a matter of communication with the team

btw a tip cause you play zagara againsed a good abba like me i would use mines to cleer your creep so try to spread it where its not well obvious
You're so relaxed and fun, it's like listening to Bob Ross pwning noobs
Dont even play the game but your commentary was nice and clear to listen to.
Whenever I play abathur my teammates are like “Oh, no! We will lose!”
But we win anyway!lol
People just don’t get how much of an impact abathur could have on a game! The sheer exp soak ability of his could be devastating in terms of getting first to ults and dominating in the fight for objectives.
Nice info, but you sit on a lot of mines, even when you bring it up you don't throw some down. like that objective around 4:20. why not make an escape path of mines for your team if the obj goes sour, or put some on the vents around the obj? or in-lane for the xp kills?
facing towards the lane really saves a lot of time over the course of the game, the locusts have to walk around abby to get to the lane if your facing the wrong way
After struggling to find a role in Hots I finally fit in nicely playing as Abathur. A good Abathur player makes a good Hots player great!
It's a great feeling knowing that the build I came up with for abathur is the same build used by most players ranked above gold (and the pros).
Peter Juncker not trying to be a dick but the options are pretty obvious once you decided which role you wanna be in the game
This was awesome commentary! I thought I was playing Abathur wrong lol. Subbed
I'm gonna be the AbaGod in Asia (KR/TW) server ranked games with this guide ser NotParadox! Thank you!!
#believe !!!
This was very positive and helpful.
I play abathur alot, and if i was going to give you a tiny tiny tip it'd be that when playing healathur, you can get a W spike burst in with your shield since they don't share a GCD before you drop the hat. Just throws in some extra damage along with the heals
Such good commentary
Thanks! your vids helped me to improve a lot with my abathur!
Great video. Superb commentary. Subbed :D
Please do more gameplay, everyone enjoys it. This vid got over 70k views. What a bargain :)
Great video!
That their Junkrat wasn't harassing you half of the time was quite weird.
I thought the mule was useless until I watched this video. I never thought of using it as a decoy to soak damage to help out the team as well as repairing my team's towers.
Thank you for the video!
@NotParadox Being an Abathur main, the 2nd shield actually is the default shield, it does not gain any talent benefits at all.
This vid was awesome :D I'm keen to get into Abby and this helps a lot, thank you! :)
hey guys used to play this awesome game while drunk and hiBh at the same time (with friends ofc) really loved it, it was about 2 years ago, how this game aged since then? Is it still popular?

the 2nd is untalented hat so just abilities for damage or sheild
Hey ! Ty for the tips. I wanna ask : Against what enemy would u not pick abathur ?
Amazing video.
I figured out this same exact build just by playing him, I only have him at lvl 31 but he's my highest level hero, he is my favorite.
saving that diablo was SO SICK!
Just starting to get into leaning Aba right now and this video is great. The QER combo is especially helpful. Similar to Kal's bomb spread with trait.
very helpful and educational, thank you :)
Could u do a Video just like this one, but with you playing first and then commentating over it later on? incredible sympathic :O
love this video, thanks for sharing =)

damn mate u should ge tmore subs, ur videos are great, uve helped me alot with gameplay
Not GM, but ~110 abathur here. Something I do that you didn’t mention with this build is when you Q-E-R, the GCD of the R makes it so that you can fit both W and Q in the direction of an enemy while you wait to cancel. So it becomes Q-E-W-Q-R (but really fast obviously) :3
not bad but what is your winrate on abba my overall winrate is 60% with around 1200 games this season its a 76% winrate with about 100 ranked games
Good tips thanks!
This is how I micro LV with at least one in a lane and the other two doing camps/roaming and then showing up for skirmishes.
thx dude i learned alot from you
Can someone explain to me why the minions are not dropping blue globes? How is be soaking up by just staying in the lane? New noob here
You're a GM of everything.
Great tips, but you didn't slapathur the core. Unsubbed
In sc2 we call that a BM mule. It's super effective
YES! More aba videos please!
can't you Q the icons on top of your screen? like a faster heal/shield ?
sadly no
I've been playing with this build for ~2 years now.
It was even better before they gimped Abathur™ early last year.
I have a feeling I may been responsible for that.
I kept getting MVP and top healer with over 200k heals a game and went to diamond.
They changed shortly after that.
'i have a feeling i may have been responsible for that' 'i went to diamond' LOLL
lol thats funny locust train. i thought it was a train at first
One thing I don't understand - why do you have to walk into lane to get xp from the minion waves? I thought the locusts picked up the xp for you?
Have you done ever a video about rexxar? And is he considered meta? Would love to see that
I get yelled anytime I try to play aba even though he is my best char.
THIS GUY IS AFK!!! REPORT HIM!!!
I became an expert with Abathur but now it doesn't matter if I can't play again
The clone gives 1/4th xp if the enemy team kills it... the only way it doesn't give xp is if you run out it's time.
watched this video, and my aba game just got 100 times better
Missing so much potential soak and W charges ( not using W at 3 stacks) i guess for the sake of commentary so its fine :)
Pretty sure the commentary is added in post. It doesn't look like he is doing live commentary.
No its live
Not to mention the mule constantly being off cooldown :( Though I think he played very relaxed and slow for the sake of the tutorial
nah bruh, it's cuz he bad af
