It used to be vision being the only requirement but wasn't global. That's why the old Abathur/Zagara backdoor used to be a thing. Now it's global but it has to be placed on vision enabled creep (if the creep is in a bush but you don't have vision of that bush you can't place it there).
Zag main at platinum rank zag is most played hero and the hero I dominate with the most. I agree wholeheartedly with what Paradox says in this video but he made a couple mistakes in my opinion. When you are starting the round and you reach the solo lane place the first thing you should do is place creep (trait) in the entrances of the lane and you want to keep your creep here at all time this will give you vision and make it impossible for the enemy to gank you. Pardox’s death was extremely preventable if he had had vision and saw the Valla coming. At level 1 Infest is normally the go to option but you should also consider the E talent lowering the cooldown and giving the minions damage reduction against structures. This talent will Synergize with your level 7 bile drop. Really don’t underestimate the power of this talent, with experience you can rake up stack for the quest easily, giving you a huge power boost. i complete the quest all the time. Being said you shouldn’t focus on completing the quest. Level 4 Medusa blades is the best talent basically giving you three basic attacks which may Synergize with your ultimate giving you more cooldown reduction I’m not 100% sure on that fact tho. For ultimates never pick up Maw while yes it is a good ult it will never bring the utilities of nydus network. The self sustain is so powerful, the increase to creep size, and the global value. At 13 i believe he picked the wrong talent i always go the 20 armor while on creep. Because Zag should always be on creep so you should always have the damage resistance. You already have the self sustain from your nydus you don’t need the heal. At 16 Mutilisk is your go to pick this ability will give you pressure in every lane thanks to its long duration. You can also consider hunter killer does percent damage i like this talent when the enemy has a large amount of hp, good against azmodans, diablos, cho gals. 20 fury of the storm is good but i see it as a wasted talent you already have high wave clear and fury is really just giving you more. Endless creep is always my go to your creep will no long expire , you will gain vision almost anywhere on the map thanks to the ability to place creep from a far distance and a small bonus is the 30% move speed buff letting you out maneuver and chase any enemy without having to mount as long as you have creep. I’m sure there is some smaller things i could go over but talent build wise this should be your go too. Sorry Pardox but i think your build is a little off this time.
@@c0461-e1s I think so. The Hydralisk healing doesn't give much in the way of heals and is more situational, while the armor is almost constant. Nydus Network gives you all the heals you need anyways.
Nurullah Gökal zag just about has an answer to playing against anyone, but it’s normally more about the players than the hero, how dedicated are they to clearing your creep. Hero wise like Pardox said Gul’dan and Ilocanos can be frustrating to play against they will easily clear creep and out self sustain you easily. Other than that anyone that can easily clear creep. But late game you can become such a global pressure that no one will really bother you at that point.
I'm a level 100+ platinum-rank Zagara, and I think Paradox's video is great, and Riversway's comment is even better, but I want to advocate for my alternative Baneling-focused main build. Basically, it's the same build Paradox suggested, but you take the bonus damage to non-Heroes on level 1 and the extra Banelings on level 7. Then, if you sit in the middle of the enemy minion wave, you launch 4-6 Banelings and the entire wave is gone. Now you have your Hunter Killer and Roach Drop still available to siege down turrets and things. Now, you can already do that with the ranged minion damage build, but what I really like about Q build is that 1) you get the extra distance traveled, so when someone rotates down to push back your lane you can pull back as far as you want and still prevent them from hitting your towers even 2v1, and 2) the long-distance Banelings are surprisingly strong at zoning out your enemies. E.g., let's say there's an enemy Raynor who's taken some damage and is running away. You throw down those 4-6 Banelings along the route he has to run, and he either dies from the Banelings or has to run back into your team. Either way, you secure a kill. Also, 3) since you get vision on them, they're even better to scout with, and 4) Q build is better for taking camps, since minion damage ONLY boost your ranged minion waves and not your Roaches and Hunter Killers etc., but Q build increases ALL siege damage from your Banelings. Come mid-game, you can literally take a Bruiser camp in just a few seconds by dropping all your cooldowns - the Banelings alone take them down to 1/2-1/3 health. Also, I understand why lots of people don't take it, but I really like the poison trait at level 4. It makes your early-game solo laning much stronger and basically demands the enemy team 2:1 you, which means your allies should be able to easily push their lanes while you're able to prevent any real damage to your own lane. Beyond that, I agree with Riversway completely, and I'll add that the level 20 Nydus skill is a game-changer. You really have all the siege damage you need by level 20, but being able to place creep far away means you can scout your boss or objective with your trait, or leapfrog with your Nydus all the way from your home base to snipe an enemy Keep, or Nydus in front of a retreating enemy to cut them off and secure your team a kill.
Great video! I already learned how to play abathur with u and started to win more games with him. Now I'll try this Zagara guide. Thanks and keep the good work ^-^
You are misremembering what Endless Creep gives you, it's not at *all* less useful with only 4 nydus worms, it allows you to get vision everywhere and remotely. Sure you wind up ruining the previous worms if you use it to catch up to someone fleeing, but the main thing is to give your team vision and make it impossible for the enemy team to go anywhere, not for chase.
Not to mention the fact that it increases your creep movement speed even further. You become one of the biggest annoyances in the entire game at that point, when you're prepared.

I think some he just wanted to more stuff around the map to showcase the hero (aka some more split pushing). Sure you can just push core with a 3 level lead and 2 enemies dead, but those don't make great tutorial videos.

Zag is one of my favorites, but I usually make 2 talent choices differently. At 7 I take the Baneling slow, as a way to kite better, even without creep. At 13 I prefer the armor on creep just for the consistency, and I heal in nydus. Both choices are pretty flexible, and often against heavy hitting ults I take the spell shield instead.
Leaving that camp unclaimed gave me so much anxiety. Even with vision, that seemed so risky because they would be able to cap before he could run back. Would he have used Nydus?
I love Zagara so much, she's so underrated. First hero I ever picked up. There's been times where I've managed to solo lane against two other heroes and still win the lane.
Thanks for bringing attention to our hive mother. A few thoughts. E build allows you to do a lot of zoning and burst in team fights. Keeping your roaches between assassins and yourself is the best way to keep yourself safe while whittling down your opponent in lane. Infest is only viable if they leave you alone, which will never happen. Mutalisk allows substantial pushing in all lanes and makes life miserable for any character that lacks substantial AoE, as they will have to kill it or slowly die. Creep positioning needs to start defensively, as you are guaranteed to get attention immediately and you don't want to be an easy target. Even being the weakest Zagara we've ever had, she's still a beast. Good luck.
It's when you dance around an enemy so s/he can't hit you and harassing that enemy with your abilities or/and autoattacks at the same time. Works well if you have long range and mobility (Genji, Sylvanas, Tracer, etc. - all of them can kite enemies well).
You should definitely be using mutalisks to push lanes; they last 45 seconds and your auto attacks will reduce the cooldown. It allows you to leave the lane and have a significant amount of pressure built up from multiple mutalisks. You also definitely want to get in Triglav Protector to boost Infest Damage; the siege damage you deal is immense in triglave so you want to use it early-midgame to boost Infest.
Hey paradox, two things: You said you wanted to make a video about another hero, was it Cassia? Because it really seems you had her in mind for a lot XD (you also called Valla, Cassia at one point). The second is that i really like the way you make your videos but the only think i can't get over with is some sort of FPS problem that really triggers me. Is it a problem of your settings or of the montage later?
I rate Zagara as the single best off-laner in the game, she's insanely strong and very often requires 2 heroes to deal with her, which frees up the rest of the map a lot. Very strong hero in a lot of comps.
One thing I noticed is that in the late game you didn't use W enough for split pushing. For example when your team was going for bottom obj and you wanted to soak a wave quick top. If you let your W go with mutalisk it will serve as a mini camp. I know this can make soak harder to get so you have to be careful but in this situation you knew you won't need to be there to soak for a while and if it last hits minions (pretty common) you can generate xp without being in lane.
i'd like to mention zul'jin as a potential counter, as he kills the hydralisk with ease, stop the spreading of tumors and can stop the bully. I like playing both heroes, and i found out that i'm dominating with zul'jin vs zag almost all the time, and in reverse, i admit i have problems. Usually when i go vs zul as zag, i cant push very much, just collecting xp without any pressure put on him on the lane. Opinions?
My average day is get up in the morning, have breakfast while watching your videos on RUclips. You have made me a better player and for that I'm very grateful. I'm currently trying to get a team on "the same page". I'm generally the leader and I play tank. Any chance you could do a video on tips for team comms, and how to get everyone working together?
The pain is real. She’s either ignored and carries her team, or she completely takes a party member out of team fights because she HAS to be challenged in lane
Abathur with monstrosity and using parasite on it is insane for these things, gains buffs killing minions, good for killing minions, lots of health, pretty much a siege weapon as long as something is distracting the enemies
You're forgetting one of the most important optimizing parts about zagara. Whenever you attack something (especially when sieging a fort or keep), you want to be on creep, so you get the CD reduce. Also you can really spam your creep when doing that even more!
While I overall agree that Mutalisk at 16 is really nice for the duration boost, in practice I feel like it always ends up dying about when the Hydra would normally time out anyway. (Especially against comps with a lot of aoe damage) For example when you were pushing the keeps and then the core towards the end the Muta was getting targeted by the buildings and dying in 3 seconds anyway, thus not gaining any value from the increased duration. I would suggest giving Brood Expansion a try, as then it's not as big of a deal when your Hydra dies when you can send them out twice as often, plus it essentially doubles your focused dps against single targets during a fight. Of course that being said, it is always hilarious when you can put a Muta on someone during a teamfight and they just ignore it the whole time letting it get the full extended value.
Another hero I think is quite good against Zagara is Arthas with AA build. He can destroy creep easily and if he gets to Zagara (by rushing at her on a mount from a bush and using W) she is in a very serious trouble. He also has decent waveclear and self-sustain.
Can nydus still block players? I've see nydus that blocked the Zagara player, and even ones that blocked their entire team from leaving the altar. But yeah the best place is to put it next to your specific hearth location (players always hearth to their own specific spot that's set when the game starts, in case anyone didnt know), specifically towards the back so you dont block anyone but can still click on it without moving from the hearth-in spot.
Its a good talent. But infest is also very good. Hey good thing right? Having multiple viable options! PERSONALLY I usually run infest cause... god damn having zag solo push that one lane till she forces the enemy team to dedicate and stop her is priceless. I think people really undersell how useful the cool down reduction from nydus worm is too. Its not uncommon at all for me to summon up 2-3 mutilisks on a wave then leave it and let them push on their own... Thats some old school sylv/azmodan split pushing potential that people HAVE to deal with. All in all, zag is alot better than people give her credit for. YES shes got a bad habit of being tardy to team fights... but I think if people stop and think for 2 seconds and play safer... they'll realize how much pressure she presents on the map and take advantage of it.
I am almost 100% certain that, so long as a Nydus worm is on the board, regardless of distance from entry, or which you popped into last, you will not be ejected. I am more than willing to be proven wrong, but not at my desk.
I feel that Medusa lacks a bit when you compare it to the quest for AA. Early game you should be able to stack up enough to were you can start becoming more of a threat to single targets, meaning Towers and Forts/Keeps beware.
Hey :D I tried it at myself and yeah Zagara is really good, but I've got the problem that I get flamed and also reported for not beeing at objekt all the time... so when do i go on objekt and when do I lane? anyways good video :D
I'm not quite masters yet, but I advise that you should try laning when you get the free time to go and do so. While the objective is up and your team has a fighting chance in a 5v5, you should always be there. If you notice that the enemies are down 2 players and your team is all at obj, feel free to go split push real quick. If you have a nydus up near the obj and where you're located, you should be able to get extra pushing in right before the objective begins too. Do not be afraid to hop between lanes to just clear the minions, either. The benefit of zag's ability to be all over the place is not just for pushing, but soaking too. Good luck! Hopefully I'll see you in the nexus =)
Hiding in a bush(you wouldn't want the visual effects of the ranged minions) Freezing the wave(letting the minion wave stay in the middle so you could positioning more safely)
I agree with most of what you've said, but personally I think the baneling slow is way better than the e quest, because your wave clear is already amazing and you now have yet another escape
I much prefer the 6 banelings and 20% increased damage. You can hit all 7 minions if you stand on the caster. You can also hit all 3 mobs in the camp if you stand in the middle. Seems like you were kind of wasting that potential. Great video though. I do have a problem on Zag though. I feel very hard countered by Falstad. His mobility and 1v1 potential allow him to gank me no matter how defensive I play, and even if he isn't ganking, it forces me to not perform my one role, which is to split push. Any tips?
Plat Artanis and thats about the only hero i can beat Zagara in lane with *SOMETIMES* Illidan but yeah she's just a big buggy bully another great video. :)
It's mainly so they don't give your enemy the hint that you're closeby or just outside vision range, Anubarak's Legion of Beetles talent (passively spawns a beetle every 8 seconds while dismounted) can be turned off for the same reason. It might be a good idea to turn it off if you're hearthing in a bush or something.
To hold a wave in place so the soak dies instead of pushing it and to stop enemies from knowing you are nearby in bush ganks. I move it to the 6 key so I don't deactivate it on accident
I always take the baneling talent at 1 and the AA-quest at 4. Anyone laning against will lose their wave to your banelings and their health to your AA, especcially in the long run. 70 bonus on my AA and rising? yes pls.
I just started playing zagara, I know she sieges alot but I’m more of a team fighter, and I followed a team fight build and just creamed 7 matches in a row, timing and what not just so much potential, I’m always in vc with friends so it’s great, I do have an issue but I’m progressing. Placing Creep. XD
Medium skilled Artanis makes most Zagaras cry. You can choose to ignore hydra and go for her with a well placed Q+E in her face or you can go amateur opponent and 2 hit the hydra the moment it's out.
SZ really skilled Alarak is indeed a deadly threat for Zaggy-butt. You have to completely change tac in order to manage the threat, but he *can* be managed with skirmish.
I did the same thing yesterday. Honestly, Infest build is the best way to bully people. By the way, at 4:15 , you kill Cassia? Is Valla the new cassia 🤔? New leaks..
Zag used to be an ez mode powerhouse then they changed her abilities and her team fight when down like 50%. Now she’s only really good for laning even then I can counter her easily with someone who has the ability to get rid of her creeps.
@paradox i play this hero a lot. I can definitely show you some things with her. I have played her for years and have developed such an amazing way of playing her. I win against any hero solo lane with her. I have a build for her used every time and i call it "the swarm build". will be honest i didnt finish watching this one cause i wasnt happy with the first two talents you picked xD. If you are interested let me explain to you my build and how it works :)
I think when doing these vids you should also explain why she isn't played as often: I usually get worried when ppl pick zag because 1) She's incredibly easy to gank: Squishy and no CC 2)if they have a character that can easily clear creep (Fenix, Malth, Tass, etc) it cripples zagara with not only a loss of vision but a more difficult escape. Also at lower leagues zags get so focused on split pushing they forget to join fights a lot :/
You missed the absolute number 1 thing to do at the start of every Zagara game; drop tumors so you can see the enemy coming to gank you from a mile away, and to grant movement speed to get away from them. :)
I have since applied the bullying method to other areas of my life, and have found that people now fear me. Thanks Paradox!

It's when you dance around an enemy so s/he can't hit you and harassing that enemy with your abilities or/and autoattacks at the same time. Works well if you have long range and mobility (Genji, Sylvanas, Tracer, etc. - all of them can kite enemies well).
Hey Notparadox, I wonder, as i watched your trall video. How your oponent should have play as Trall to not been pushed so much?
Funny that you can hear how paradox torture his mouse like in 11:30
You should definitely be using mutalisks to push lanes; they last 45 seconds and your auto attacks will reduce the cooldown. It allows you to leave the lane and have a significant amount of pressure built up from multiple mutalisks. You also definitely want to get in Triglav Protector to boost Infest Damage; the siege damage you deal is immense in triglave so you want to use it early-midgame to boost Infest.
hey paradox, do you mind starting to put the build talent calculator in the description so we can quick check later on?
NP had a really calm sololane experience this game.
I think Brightwing, because he's been doing supports
Im having the same problems, makes it super hard to watch when he drops down to some wonky 10-30 fps range and then back to 60 fps
I rate Zagara as the single best off-laner in the game, she's insanely strong and very often requires 2 heroes to deal with her, which frees up the rest of the map a lot. Very strong hero in a lot of comps.
do you play with quick cast on release? :)
NotParadox, which other solo lanes are good?
Question, why dont u use alt-d follow with alt-r to quickly cast tumor+nydus?
7:28
i'd like to mention zul'jin as a potential counter, as he kills the hydralisk with ease, stop the spreading of tumors and can stop the bully. I like playing both heroes, and i found out that i'm dominating with zul'jin vs zag almost all the time, and in reverse, i admit i have problems. Usually when i go vs zul as zag, i cant push very much, just collecting xp without any pressure put on him on the lane. Opinions?
The rare times pushing is covered, an aggressive Zag can be a lot of fun
My average day is get up in the morning, have breakfast while watching your videos on RUclips. You have made me a better player and for that I'm very grateful.
I'm currently trying to get a team on "the same page". I'm generally the leader and I play tank. Any chance you could do a video on tips for team comms, and how to get everyone working together?
Hey man, can you do a "Getting in the mind of a GM Tyrande" ? Thanks
helping others players to see more ways to out play and win matches.
Thanks a Lot from Perú 😁
The pain is real. She’s either ignored and carries her team, or she completely takes a party member out of team fights because she HAS to be challenged in lane
"tychus is no fun" right at the start XD
Abathur with monstrosity and using parasite on it is insane for these things, gains buffs killing minions, good for killing minions, lots of health, pretty much a siege weapon as long as something is distracting the enemies
You're forgetting one of the most important optimizing parts about zagara. Whenever you attack something (especially when sieging a fort or keep), you want to be on creep, so you get the CD reduce. Also you can really spam your creep when doing that even more!
do you ever pick maw or do you always take nydus?
While I overall agree that Mutalisk at 16 is really nice for the duration boost, in practice I feel like it always ends up dying about when the Hydra would normally time out anyway. (Especially against comps with a lot of aoe damage)
For example when you were pushing the keeps and then the core towards the end the Muta was getting targeted by the buildings and dying in 3 seconds anyway, thus not gaining any value from the increased duration.
He also has decent waveclear and self-sustain.
why would you turn infest of ever? please tell me
Yay more educational stuff!
Zagara is a lot of fun, she can push really hard or join a team fight and do well as well
The ranged minions are mean they destroy everything the swords minions are there to tank
17:37 why not finish with a few kills ?
In 4 talent they pick hero damage against Chen and Rehgar?
why dont you put a nydus *inside* the altar?
edit: I just wanted to know if there was a specific reason why you chose otherwise, or just random.
I think it has to be outside the altar
@@Claytown no it does not, every Zag player from bronze to GM does it
You can place it everywhere where you can place A creep if it fits
Can nydus still block players? I've see nydus that blocked the Zagara player, and even ones that blocked their entire team from leaving the altar. But yeah the best place is to put it next to your specific hearth location (players always hearth to their own specific spot that's set when the game starts, in case anyone didnt know), specifically towards the back so you dont block anyone but can still click on it without moving from the hearth-in spot.
@@zippo718 it can. Its still An object like KTs ice spike. I once secured A boss on warhead junction by placing nydus in Bush from enemy side
E talent on lvl1 is godlike when tanking merc camps, soloing boss is kinda possible with it and lvl10 passive.
What happens if all Zagara's nydus worms are killed while she is inside one?
Pops out of the last one that's killed
I'm pretty sure she dies
@@JIerark nope, she appears where the last one is killed
i Can confirm that you are simply put out of the nydus just as you would do out of the bunker of Blaze
I am almost 100% certain that, so long as a Nydus worm is on the board, regardless of distance from entry, or which you popped into last, you will not be ejected.
I am more than willing to be proven wrong, but not at my desk.
yep just hopped on and qued zag. I'm already decent as her but this video is great for improving
Hehe, "except for that one time, let's not talk about *that* one time".
I feel that Medusa lacks a bit when you compare it to the quest for AA. Early game you should be able to stack up enough to were you can start becoming more of a threat to single targets, meaning Towers and Forts/Keeps beware.
The Fallen Angel Raven I agree. Infested drop by itself clears minion waves pretty well when supported by your own minions.
Infested at level 1 is a great talent. I have had heroes actually die from my ranged minions due to their bonus damage.
Hey :D
I tried it at myself and yeah Zagara is really good, but I've got the problem that I get flamed and also reported for not beeing at objekt all the time... so when do i go on objekt and when do I lane? anyways good video :D
@@ironmagedpvp3076 Wow thank you, that helped me alot :D Have a good day =)
what hero does the most seige damage besides abathur and sylvanas
Lava wave Ragnaros does more than both imo.
Level 1 - Infest '"Can be toggled on or off" what would be the purpose of toggling it off? when would you do this? why is this an option?
Hiding in a bush(you wouldn't want the visual effects of the ranged minions)
Freezing the wave(letting the minion wave stay in the middle so you could positioning more safely)
What are some good counters to zahara? Not illidan I suck as him
Yrel can pretty much tank her and bully her out of lane. Maybe Azmodan can out lane her with a good build.
how do i get better and be more efficient at vs ai?
The bile drop quest is broken as fuck, at max stacks the bile drop does like 700 damage and it has larger width, it becomes pretty much an ult lol
Use more creeps for vision between laines to avoid dying from rotating enemy heros
what server u are on ?
You can summon nydus on creep anywhere on the map, Zagara doesn't have to be there
I've always wondered why the level 1 talent is an active instead of passive ability. Is there a reason to deactivate it?
The main thought I came up with is that you might wanna not show the enemies that you're nearby for whatever reason :0
She is defiantly one of the worst things I have to deal with when trying to soak a lane lol! Crazy minions!
0:29 yep there goes zagara's best early game potential, she becomes crap either way late game...
Hay can u make a video on rexxar why he is rearly seen in games and an overal view on hero
Oooh games quite interesting nice vid
You should really play with quick cast, especially with spammy abilities like Zagara’s Q
wow just bullied the hell out of my lane
is this dota for starcraft if so how do i play it
I once used Maw on a bunker and MAWed the 2 ppl inside it. Was hilarious.
I've found it very easy to counter Zagara with Cassia.
I eat zagaras in breakfast as the highlord
SZ really skilled Alarak is indeed a deadly threat for Zaggy-butt. You have to completely change tac in order to manage the threat, but he *can* be managed with skirmish.
Is there a lot of people playing HOTS?
i dont put nydus at base. you get hp/mana regen while you stay inside
I think it's just a way to be quickly back on a lane in case you'd use B to get back to your core
@@PioneerSkies its also used when you die to jump back to your lane quicker.
I did the same thing yesterday. Honestly, Infest build is the best way to bully people. By the way, at 4:15 , you kill Cassia? Is Valla the new cassia 🤔? New leaks..
Between this and league of legends which one is better?
If there were a hero like Zagara in League, i´d probably switch. There is just no hero in League that compares gameplay wise.
With no priority on the E quest, wouldn't another talent give you more value?
Zag used to be an ez mode powerhouse then they changed her abilities and her team fight when down like 50%. Now she’s only really good for laning even then I can counter her easily with someone who has the ability to get rid of her creeps.
I suggest quick cast on q
If you have muta, you can use it to push much more.
I'm a Zag main and since I resorted to actually onetricking her in ranked I went from medium Diamond to (currently) 5k Master :D
