My mom (she's 80) owns an antique store in Liberty, Texas and has for the last 16+ years. We've been picking and visiting antique shops for decades. The house I grew up in built in 1879. I absolute love watching these antique store videos and the amazing antiques that are there. We think antique here in Texas are old if they are 150+ years old and that would be considered new compared to he stuff I am seeing in these videos. So awesome to see how much is there and the condition and the age... just amazing! Thanks for showing this!!!!
@@melissahalbert9455 I grew up in Fannett. The Dugat house (now gone) was one of the early homes on the Beaumont/Galveston trail. Mom's shop is called Dovetail Antiques and is on the city square.
@@wrkey It is possible to bring back some things from France in suitcases ! Some people will ship items, but there may be import taxes. More remote places in the country have good prices. The shops in the 'lads' videos are in more expensive areas. I brought back table linens recently which I hope to sell on a potential Etsy shop.
My Italian nona bedroom she had an old Mable top dressing table with a white marble top like the large one you was looking at...on the middle plinth she had a jug of water and a bowel underneath...
Love your videos! You have a wonderful way in presenting yourself and whatever you are discussing. Your calming and pleasing voice/attitude is very welcome . I would say the door is magnificent. My only question would be - does it fit the time frame and the overall look of the area it might be placed in. If you have to repair it or rebuild anything missing then I don't think it's worth it. Having to do so would mean that the finishes are going to appear very different and the look would not compliment the the overlook of the period of the chapel and would look our of place.
Hello Ryan and Billy, thank you for your wonderful informative vidios. My Son and Daughter have been buying in France for quite a few years now, but sadly have had to stop buying there now due to costs and other factors. My daughter however continues to restore antiques mainly gilding mirrors and furniture, she has recently taken up canning seats of chairs quite a laborious undertaking but she really enjoys the challenge. So if you find yourself in need of work doing she would happily help you. Happy days Ryan !
Ryan, I think you and Billy should collaborate on a podcast it could be very funny. Perhaps speaking about random things that occur on a daily basis, etc.. Love your outings!
I liked the octagonal (or maybe hexagonal) red and white rug that you passed by in the chair section. That leather chair with the lion arms -- the lions look Chinese to me. I imagine that the wood is beautiful under that paint. It's also interesting to me that since both the convent and the chateau have magnificently high ceilings you look at huge pieces, such as mirrors and frames because they will fit the scale of your buildings. I look at much smaller things because of the scale of my house.
The small Bank of France chandeliers would look great in the chapel, near the walls as a secondary set of lights with larger chandeliers down the middle. Layered lighting.
That’s completely understandable. We have certain antique dealers here that won’t haggle either. You just get to know the ones that will and the ones that won’t.
Love the brocantes. You need some nice chairs for your office. Great assortment of antiques. I would go wild. Mainly the China section and fabrics. You guys are so lucky to have so many to choose. Enjoy your Sunday.
Happy Sunday Ryan. You make the happiest videos. The door is beautiful, I’m sure there’s a perfect place for it in the chapel or convent. Get to negotiating…
The door is lovely, but the wrong era for the convent. The one large lamp and all the matching smaller ones would be perfect for the library! They are lovely. ❤
Thank You for the tour of The Brocanté. Starting at 07:47 … The Mirrors, The Gramophone & Especially The Tapestry… Fell in love straight away. The Fashion Captured…Astonishing. Fantastic!
Your videos of the shops and brocantes are so much better than when you started, Ryan. They are more relaxed and show more details of select pieces rather than racing through the entire shop and seeing very little. Great work. Very enjoyable! By the way, you sound more relaxed as well. This new side of you suits your kind, enthusiastic personality🥰👍🏻
Ryan. As I've all really said I truly enjoyed what guys are doing. There is so much wonderful and important to History and I love that you guys are bring back history which is so important to History. Love what you guys are doing. You guys bring so much inspiration!! Love what you guys are doing it brings me hope for mankind.
I loved that chapel door! Such beautiful detail, especially on the corners of the outer door. I've always loved those raised squares alk over the door; it makes it look so sumptuous and strong. I've only seen them in historical dramas, mind you! 😆 It was lovely to see the matvelous things there; the Bank of France photo was wonderful; the building looked so beautiful, do you know what the purchasers were going to do with it? Nice video as ever, thanks for sharing with us!
Thank you again Ryan for sharing your life . I do hope you take a day off and don’t get burn out hun . I love seeing you everyday , I’m just thinking of you . ❤🙏🏻🤗
Ryan, I think you should open a unique antique shop. Sell things that are not typical but still antiques. You'd be great and you'll also have the talent to be online with it as well. 👍
I thought the copper was well worth the price yesterday. Definitely good to have a favorable relationship with the Brocante owners. Such great items to be seen!💗
Thank you for taking me shopping with you and Billy. My days of tripping the light fantastic through the brocantes of France. I used to take an extra suitcase for all my treasures and of course airport security loved me-copper pots and such stuffed with clothing so that I could cram it all in.
That little round suitcase -- you wondered if it was for hats -- was, in the 1950's in the US anyway, used for hair dryers, the giant rollers we used to set our hair, and for various beauty products. We called them "train cases" as opposed to "suitcases". They were fitted with elasticized pockets around the insides and elasticized straps on the inside of the lid to hold combs, brushes etc.
Hi Ryan! I love the brocante videos. Please keep them coming. I enjoy your banter with Billy. You're like the Chateau jester. LOL. Love watching your every day life in France. I'm American and while I live near the Great Smoky mountains in Tennessee which is beautiful, I love that there is so much history in Europe and would love to visit someday. take care.
I’m glad you mentioned the negotiating. It’s easy when watching, having no idea of the background, to second guess how we would have done things differently. It’s good to be reminded that you and Billie are in these shops all the time. You know the people and the market.
Over 300 'Banques de France' have been decomissioned and emptied and sold off in France, many are pretty spectacular. I visited three of them with Bruneau to pick up furniture.
Ryan, I appreciate your explanation about shopping for bargains. I saw an antique Victorian skimmer for sale similar to the one Billy purchased for 67 Euros, way above the price offered to you and Billy. You never know.
Thank you Ryan for showing us around these beautiful shops I could quite literally bankrupt myself in those shops... I'm just sitting here fawning over all those antique tureens 😍 I started collecting them about 3 years ago.. I see so many things I could just load up my car boot with .. absolutely amazing.. 💯
France has so many antique shops compared to other countries. Good explanation for viewers as to what your negotiation strategy was, and why it works for you! We can now understand why Billie is happy with having you along! Good teamwork.
You could always add the conversion rates in the details of the video. (show more- description) Brochante Bros are Back :) I think Billy could have a second channel featuring just the antiques that have been bought for the convent and chateau, so beautiful.
Bonsoir Ryan! Wow, the chapel door is a great find and so beautiful! The chair is amazing with the lion detail on the arm rests and how much more beautiful it would be if it could be restored. I’m planning on visiting France in a few months. Looking forward to visiting a few brocantes while I’m there. Thank you so much for sharing your brocante adventures with us and have a great evening! ♥️🤗
Those bank lights would look cool somewhere in the Abby All the paint on the chapel door can be striped off, including on the hardware. That marble table would have been a side table in one of the large living rooms.
Thanks for taking me with you to these antique shops. Wish I could be there. Also thank you for the exchange rate between US dollar and the Euro. Be safe and God bless.
The chapel inner door is stunning. It would be wonderful to see it back in a chapel. Thank you Ryan for the conversion it helps me when I am watching the videos with the antique stores in them. Converting to Canada's $ which is about 30% less value than US$ .
I hope you're having a wonderful Sunday, Ryan. I love the chapel door. If Billy thinks that it will work as the inner door at the entrance to the chapel, he should consider getting it. He has a vision, so I would want to support his decision.
Thanks for converting the money for us and especially for including our AUD (Aussie dollars ), as I would have felt left out😉 and it was a quick way for us to know the prices of items in the Antique stores that you visit. I would go mad with the choice of all that pretty china as I have quite a collection now but is so much more rare to be able to find it here in Perth WA. The chapel inside door was very nice but Billy will know what’s right for his chapel won’t he? Thanks for keeping up with your daily videos, we do appreciate them and we realise how much work it must be for you, bye Ryan.
I absolutely love the bank safe. If there was anyway if getting such a solid and heavy item back to the UK then I would be tempted to buy it. Obviously price dependant too, lol. When I was in the army they had some old safes that where unused and stuck in the corner of offices. I asked if I could buy one but they wouldn’t sell it to me but preferred to just dump them instead. Such a shame. They were almost the same as the one in the shop so extremely thick, solid and heavy metal. Xx
I'm so glad I didn't go on the antique tour with you, because I would have spent far too much money. In the first place there was a small drum on the floor that could be decorated for Christmas and on the red chair there was a piece of lace I loved, not to mention the bridal hair ornament that was on one of the tables you talked about in a glass dome. ... and you didn't even see some of the stuff.... it's fun to see what other people go for in places like that 🤣

Hey Ryan😊…. Love shopping with you… love antiques very much !! France has the goods for sure! The chapel door has its own framing so installation would be great! It looks Gothic… would it blend ok at the convent chapel …?? Anyway like the door. The wall hanging (tapestry ) is beautiful 🤩 Wow!! So many gorgeous mirrors… might be difficult to pick one… price may help with deciding! Love you❤. Keep making these amazing videos! Thank you, Ryan !
Great day out antiquing, Ryan. Hope you and Billy had fun. It's good to take time off and do something different. You both have a lot of work ahead of you this week. Get some rest, buddy. 💖💖💖
When antique shopping you mustn’t show to much excitement since the shop owner senses your desire in an item(s) it might make negotiating a better price more difficult.
I loved all the bombe dressers and especially the gramophone that was sort a portable player. But he wanted too much. Here you can buy the gramophone with the tall cabinet for 400 dollars. I would that it should be around 2to300 dollars for that one
I love it when you speak French …hearing your perfect accent
