Jenna can with the wishing dust Matt gave her as a birthday gift so to think all this could have been avoided if he hadn't gotten her that wishing dust lol
Matt realizes that you can't change the past or live in it. He realizes that he has to live in the present and where he is now. He's engaged to Wendy and he wouldn't have proposed to her if he didn't want to marry her.

Lol this part is deep. U can tell that his current fiancé kinda looks like Jenna. He prob has a type or maybe he just cant get over her. Thats why he said that. Jenna was the dream house he didn’t get.
What he means is that you can be in a loving an healthy relationship with someone who is not the love of your life. You can't get a second soulmate but you can still live a happy life. At least i think thats what he meant.
Matty's face at 3:08 is a face I will never forget. The lump in his throat, his eyes filled with tears then his words......Jenna I have always loved you. OMG. This right here is perfection
I guarantee he called off the wedding as Wendy heard the conversation between Matt and Jenna. The look on Mark's face when he gives Jennifer the house I was like Ahw the poor dude is heartbroken.
He plays a great romantic lead. He's a very sympathetic character, you can't help but fall in love with him. This scene makes me cry right along with everyone else that's posted a comment. He is tops in this movie, but Just Like Heaven is pretty awesome, too.
Yes i cried in Just Like Heaven while watching it in the theater. He has an endearing quality to him. He is not that tall and he has the guy next door look but has IT
Everyone keeps saying this like it’s a good thing. He is clearly in love with someone else. Literally would be thinking about someone else at his wedding maybe even when saying his vows. Would you want your future husband doing that so you can say he’s committed? It’s already not fair to Wendy and she deserves a guy who wants to marry her because he loves her. She’s so exited meanwhile he’s forgotten he was even getting married. I’m just saying yeah it’s nice he was trying to do the noble thing but I’d rather we don’t get married if you’re in love with someone else.
Matt loves Jenna, he always has. But he loves Wendy, too and he's already made his decision. He has history with Jenna but it's childhood history. He has history with Wendy which is grownup history. He admits that his feelings for Jenna have come back but he knows that they can't turn back the clock and pretend everything over the last 17 years never happened because he moved on from Jenna, met Wendy and proposed to her and he can't break his commitment to her over a childhood friendship being rekindled.
exactly!!! I love that this movie did that. that it showed a good man is someone who doesn't break his commitments to follow his desires no matter how much it hurts. it's what makes matt so much more realistic then almost every other generic rom com out there.
MsLovestory01 not true. Love isn't a guarantee your relationship will end up happy and lasting. It's just a factor. What determines that is whether or not they're willing to move forward and understand each other despite their differences. There are plenty of people who divorce despite having married while in love. The concept of true love is also not a reliable notion. Sure it probably does exist in some form or perspective but it's not the all encompassing notion that people think it is. And it's just as possible for you to have true love with someone you married but barely knew before like in an arranged marriage. The more important key is understanding and loyalty.
Atiqah Diyana It's why teenagers should listen to their parents about love. Teens claim their in love but there's a difference between thinking with their hearts and thinking with their hormones.
I thought of this scene as it reflects my life. I dated a woman 9 years ago and she ended things with me because the timing wasn't right for her, she was getting over a boyfriend who cheated on her. We reconnected years later but I had moved to a new state and was dating a new woman whom I eventually married despite knowing that I had strong feelings for her. Needless to say, I divorced and we reconnected and for once, the timing was right. We're finally together and so happy. Its hard not to want to turn back time and wish we had never moved on and made choices that brought us apart. I've found that if you truly feel something strong for someone, you'll never forget them and if you're lucky, fate can bring you back together.
I like how kind and caring Matt is. He doesn’t even argue with Jenna despite her personality change. He actually welcomes her back into his life. He’s so sweet. I so want a friend like him
if this was real life and he had married the other girl it wouldn't have lasted long. It was so obvious that he loved Jenna and the other girl would have seen through it. i wouldn't wanna be someones safe choice.
MsToni_f you'll be surprised how long someone will be with the wrong person. Matt did it because of how much time he spent with Wendy. Imagine starting a family? For some men things like that mean something. I'm sure if he did marry Wendy. He'd be like "it's good enough."
I dunno if I say that Wendy was the "wrong" person (least not in this alternate reality). True he settled for her somewhat, but they do generally care for one another and he wasn't gonna just straight-out break her heart because his old crush waltzes into town. Wendy and him had a real relationship. Jenna seemed awfully bold there too, assuming he'd drop Wendy for her. Guess Jenna had to learn the hard way. At least she DID get a chance to go back in time and realize her mistake and correct it though.
You can love two people at once. Love and infatuation are not the only factors that makes a marraige, but also trust, reliability, and respect. Clearly, he finds that Wendy has all of those qualities. And even though he might still have feelings for Jenna, he clearly sees a better, longer, happier, more stable, more nurturing love with wendy.
i don't think so, because if was real life, Jenna would be that awful person who walk away from him in his teens, to be part of certain group, which she started to become arrogant, to forget about her family, to cheat her friends , to cheat her boyfriend...and i think Matt even though he felt love or caring for her, he realized that she is not the one for him. He may never forget Jenna but I think his ideas of "what love is", doesn't correspond to Jennas personality, and yes to Wendy's.
"I've felt things these past few weeks that I didn't know I could feel anymore". I hate being an unpopular opinion on here but I am so bothered that he proceeded to marry Wendy when he kissed and had a fling with Jenna during their magazine photo project. We barely know Wendy but I feel so bad for her because she just said "I do" to a cheater and has no idea. In this alternate scenario from Jenna's dream, this Matt is not ready for marriage or commitment. He's totally settling here too. If you're gonna marry somebody you better believe they are your dream house ...also this movie came out when I was in 4th grade! I'm 22 years old now and I think it's funny how critical I am of this scene but 4th grade me was crying and hating on Wendy lol
This movie makes me soo sentimental and I don't know why 😭😭 I was only 8 when it came out, but I was never able to relate till now. This scene breaks my heart each time & makes me realize how valuable certain moments/people are. If only I could "turn back time" to relive a lost instance with certain individuals. Certain people I miss but who are no longer in my life 💔💕
I didn't cry (maybe 'cause I'm a guy), but I was satisfied in knowing that Jenna had learned a very valuable lesson. She aspired to be someone she wasn't, and realized that "being cool" may very well make you someone who's totally UNCOOL. Glad she got a second chance.
“You can’t just turn back time”. Yeah well I was 13 when this movie came out. I am now 30. Where’s that got damn magic dust when you really need it now lol.
This is a great movie (especially for a romcom) It still breaks my heart every time I watch this scene. Jenna & Matt’s paths diverged because Jenna didn’t stay true to herself... or Matt. Later on as an adult, regret catches up with her (in this scene) when she realizes that she can’t change the past or her decisions nor can she have back the only person who ever truly loved her for who she REALLY was. 💔
How he confesses at the end that he always loved her, despite their abrupt friendship breakup, he couldn't stop loving all of her, constantly thinking about her every single day wondering what it could have been. That was so beautiful. As a guy I really liked the romance in this movie.
I like that he himself admits that despite that he does love her, he realizes that’s it’s too late. She had her chance and she blew it. He found someone who was able to love him the way he wanted to be loved and he moved and accepted it and was able to return the same feelings to Wendy. Despite how he still feels he knows that the current him loves Wendy more than the memories he has of Jenny
This is one of my all time favourite movies. It’s not a silly little romantic movie. It’s so prevalent and true to people’s lives. Realising how far you’ve gone through life and filled with some regrets on missing out on relationships and friendships. I love Mark and Jen. So glad they reunited on the Adam Project as married characters. 💜💜
Matt was willing to commit himself to Wendy, but he doesn't love her the way a man loves the woman he wants to spend the rest of his life with, and never will. That's obvious by how quickly and easily he was distracted by Jenna. To marry Wendy would be deceitful and unfair to her. She deserves more, and Matt needed to set her free for a man who will be completely smitten by her and only her.
He does love Wendy, but he knows that the first love he has was Jenny. Jenny changed and became a very terrible person, so he had to move on. It’s no different in real life, as much as you want to go back to that person, you found another person who changed your perspective and made you better. It was too late for Jenny to try get with him, because the Matt that Jenny herself loved and new had found someone who did love and appreciate him the way he wanted. I can not stress this enough, Matt chose Wendy because he loved her more than the nostalgia feelings. Nostalgia is a powerful thing my dude, but overall he himself realized that’s all that Jenny was to him now, a remnant of the person who was his best friend and truly loved.
Everytime Matt says *please don't cry* and when he goes to the closet to get the dream house for Jenna, those parts always get to me and make me say *awww* with watery eyes!
Such a depressing scene, but she was lucky to be able to go back and time and fix their relationship. Too bad you can’t do that in real life. I’m glad I first saw this movie when I was under eighteen. It taught me how to be careful who you trust, appreciate your childhood, not take what friends do seriously, not take friends for granted, and turn you back on friends. I would recommend this movie to anyone ages twelve to sixteen. Wendy could’ve ended up with Alex Carlson, or maybe Chris Grandy
“I’ve always loved you..” 😭😢 I cry like a baby at that part. Can’t believe this movie came out 15 years ago today! I was thirteen and that’s when I fell in love with Mark Ruffalo ❤️♥️❤️♥️
Re-watched this movie for the first time in years. I love it even more and this scene got to me and I was bawling. I LOVE these two together and I love this movie even more than I did as a younger boy. Yeah, I'm a guy and I adore and love this movie. :)
I've been best friends with a boy named Matt for over 8 years now and I've always called him Matty because of this movie. He hates the nickname but he accepts it anyway cause it makes me happy to call him that. lol 😊
I watched this movie on an airplane when they still had several screens mounted up on the ceilings. The flight attendant saw how into the movie and didn’t turn it off like they usually do for landing. I was sobbing all the way to the gate and then the film was over.
You know what I just realized! Matt said Jenna threw the dream house he built at him and it broke into pieces. It’s actually so sad bc he rebuilt it after all those years. Matt wasn’t giving Jenna a dream house, he was giving her his heart ♥️
I love this part.. when jenna recognition that she love to matt.. (her old best friend) and matt still love her oh god, this part quipped me that right now i'm loving someone in my past exactly with my ex at high school.. i love this movie so much.. i watched it on my dvd everyday without getting bored..
actually the most important line is the one said by jenna´s mom which is " I made too many mistakes but I don´t regret them because If I didnt make them I wouldnt have learnt how to do things right"
Or Zodiac, Spotlight, Foxcatcher, The kids are alright, Reservation Road, Blindness, What Doesn't Kill You, Shutter Island, Thanks for Sharing, Begin Again, Infinitely Polar Bear, Collateral, We Don't Live Here Anymore, My Life Without Me and You Can Count On Me.
At first I thought this movie was going to be terrible. Then my sister rented this movie and I watched it with her. To this scene I started to like it and understand what the values in life is. Now, this movie makes me want to turn back time the bad things that I shouldn't have done. And my life in the past was great and fun. I wish I can just fix everything that I've shouldn't have done and relive good moments that I used to have in the past. This is one of my favorite movies.
Man, this is such a good ending. You’re like, panicking that he didn’t stop her, and then the music starts and you KNOW it’s over and…. Then the dust and it’s all okay 🥲🥲🥲🥲
Boiii the way he looks at her. I need one of those in my life. The scene where Jenna goes can i tell you a secret May and he says sure and then she tells him your the sweetest person I’ve ever met-killed me.
Am I the only one who is obsessed with this film recently 😂😂😂. Maybe its cause i'm pushing 30 this year. Yeah now all I want is to grab wishing dust and find a guy like Matt Flamhaff.
" You can't just turn back time. " That's the most saddest line in the movie, but the most predominate line to me.

Thank god ariana put this movie reference in her new music video because this movie is iconic
This scene breaks my heart he still loves her so much after all this time😭❤️
i will never forget this movie. always makes me cry.
Re-watched this movie for the first time in years. I love it even more and this scene got to me and I was bawling. I LOVE these two together and I love this movie even more than I did as a younger boy. Yeah, I'm a guy and I adore and love this movie. :)
You don't have to justify liking it. Beneath the cheesy rom-com surface there's a lesson to be learned 🙂
This was so hard for her hurts to watch. Beautiful confession.
I've been best friends with a boy named Matt for over 8 years now and I've always called him Matty because of this movie. He hates the nickname but he accepts it anyway cause it makes me happy to call him that. lol 😊
I've seen this movie like a million times and STILL cry every single time!
I watched this movie on an airplane when they still had several screens mounted up on the ceilings. The flight attendant saw how into the movie and didn’t turn it off like they usually do for landing. I was sobbing all the way to the gate and then the film was over.
I like how their character names are similar to their real ones. Jennifer, Jenna. Matt, Mark. XD
This made me cry so hard last night. I just loved this scene.
Matt’s last reaction tore my heart apart. 💚
Ugh. I love this movie.
When she starts smiling to make him happy i couldnt stop crying XD
505 same
Ugh. The way he says “I’ve always loved you.” gets me every single time! I just love Mark Ruffalo in this, he’s so damn fine.
I love this scene. He is so gentle and kind.
You know what I just realized!
Matt said Jenna threw the dream house he built at him and it broke into pieces.
It’s actually so sad bc he rebuilt it after all those years. Matt wasn’t giving Jenna a dream house, he was giving her his heart ♥️
omg i just realised that! its really deep and impressive that you noticed that!
Matt is just a really genuine & lovely guy :)
This part always get me.
“Jenna I’ve always loved you” my heart😭💔
Me: Mark Ruffalo just admit that your character isn't going to marry Wendy. It's written all over your face man.
I love this part.. when jenna recognition that she love to matt.. (her old best friend) and matt still love her
oh god, this part quipped me that right now i'm loving someone in my past exactly with my ex at high school.. i love this movie so much.. i watched it on my dvd everyday without getting bored..
This scene broke my heart🥺
I have no clue how many times I've seen this movie, but the ending scenes will always make me cry!
This scene always makes me cry no matter how many times I’ve seen this movie.
this scene always makes me cry
actually the most important line is the one said by jenna´s mom which is " I made too many mistakes but I don´t regret them because If I didnt make them I wouldnt have learnt how to do things right"
everytime i watch this, i still get the same feels, i cry starting from this part until the end...❤❤❤
When I see Mark Ruffalo, I think of this movie. Which is weird because he's been in serious roles like in The Avengers and Now You See Me
Or Zodiac, Spotlight, Foxcatcher, The kids are alright, Reservation Road, Blindness, What Doesn't Kill You, Shutter Island, Thanks for Sharing, Begin Again, Infinitely Polar Bear, Collateral, We Don't Live Here Anymore, My Life Without Me and You Can Count On Me.
Just Like Heaven with Reese Witherspoon is also good!
@@AgentAO7 I LOVE THAT MOVIE!!!!!!
Same, this film introduced me to him.
I'm a dude and I love this seen.
Me too😊
that moment when matt say "jenna, i've always loved you"

I came here to cry. Dayummmmmmmm.......I had a good cry.
Who came here from the thank you next video just to reminisce 😭
I love this movie, so funny and touching, this scene at the end is truly heartbreaking as there's nothing worse than loving someone you can't have....
OMG Jen is so beautiful and raw in this scene....how could Mat ever break her heart ? Mama Lama we love you - from all the Lama Lama loving families
One of the Best scenes in this great Movie!
Taking out the dreamhouse solidified that the love they had was so real.. what a great scene.
This scene made me cry like a baby that was sad
I used to cry to this scene every time I watched this movie (which was a lot) and I just remembered it, watched this and cried my eyes out again.
we've gone down different path for so long ....so sad !!!
MARK RUFFALO REALLY MADE THIS MOVIE! hes so adorable
