      @@mkv9105 the market has to propel the technology for it to be affordably scaled up. who would be able to afford such wheelchairs if they cost 250k-400k each? also, not everyone needing a wheelchair is able to handle jumping upstairs. there are better ways, like this. ruclips.net/video/drDrxPFaiLA/видео.html but it's super hard to make them affordable, or even maintain the old models.

      @@francopanigaia2425 they don't cost that much each, the majority of the tech is software. I suspect they could be made for around £3k or so. Whether they sold for that is a different matter.. even the bearings on a wheelchair (which are the exact same as on a skateboard) - yet if you buy them for a skateboard you are charged a few pence but if you buy them for a wheelchair they literally cost 300x more..

    Most of these robots seem scary and threatening, but this one with its small, compact form is actually kind of cute. While it was jumping up steps and performing tricks like a pet dog would, I couldn't help but thinking that I kind of want one.

    With only 2 wheels is very difficult stay vertical. This robot is a great step forward in servomechanics. I think this kind of robots will be faster and eco efficient than the bi - pedestrian counterpart.

    You know what this reminds me of?

    YES, this is what I always thought of when I saw videos of walking robots: why don’t they have wheels on their feet? Now this robot should also spin and stop the wheels while walking to stabilize itself.

    Forget the Robot. That sweet Bass slide in the beginning shook my house ;) Also, best CGI I ever saw ;) In all seriousness: This has amazing potential to act as a "seeing eye dog" for the blind. Hopefully that is one of the rolls it will fulfill.

    I got one of those for Christmas... in 1968
    it looks like a portable seat that can follow you on your morning stroll. When you get tired you sit down and take a rest.

      Error Code 0. I wonder if it just kept falling forwards or wigging out because the accelerometers detected movement. But really it was stationary technically. I wish they would've shown that because it's good to know it's strengths and weaknesses. I feel like the guy stood there because it needed a reference target to realize it wasn't actually moving and it was just in a follow mode.

    I'd love to see this go against an ATV and win.
    It's weird how when we picture the future it looks like something familiar, but the thing that does the job best looks nothing like we could imagine.
    This is the future no one imagined, and it looks like a hybrid between the lower half of a human with training wheels.

      Vor Allem in der heutigen Zeit... ansonsten waere das Ding mit Haenden oder Greifarmen ausgestattet ein guter Helfer im Alltag. Mal bissi zusammenkehren, oder hinterm Schrank gefallene Dinge hervorzukramen, kleinere Gegenstaende suchen... oder Hundekot wegraeumen, usw. Ueberall, wo Drohnen nicht hinkommen, waere das Ding gefragt.

    The same but with 4 legs could be an amazing platform that is energy efficient on flat surfaces (wheels) yet can navigate difficult terrain (articulating legs). Like a cheaper, more marketable spot mini. No need for fancy hip joints when you have omni wheels.
