George Harrison, the gentle genius who was overshadowed by John Lennon and Paul McCartney. I loved his voice and his spirit. I was so sad when he passed away.
It's often said that John was the brain, Paul was the heart, George was the soul and Ringo the laughter. I don't know that it was always accurate, but this is the gorgeous George Harrison, he didn't have a lot of songs while in the Beatles (many when he was solo) but they stood out. Try 'While My Guitar Gently Weeps'.
Years ago my friend, who's sister had taken piano lessons as a kid, was thumbing through an old piano music book, and ran across "Golden Slumbers". It is a very old lullaby and was not written by Paul after all. At least the lyrics, I don't know about the music. I need to check on that.
@@mgonzales56 Paul has actually said that he found it in an old piano book, but he didn’t know how to read the music so he made up the melody to the words. He slightly edited the words.

'Yesterday' came tune first, in a dream. Paul claims he assumed it was already written & extant in the world, but later worked out in conversations with others that it was original. Hard to believe the lyrics & title started out as "Scrambled Eggs"...
For me, the best thing about the Beatles was that you never knew what they were going to come out with next. Their sound changed with every single album. And each album was great from the first track to the last. Pure genius from all 4 of them.
@@davidt9238 well just going by what people during that time say and George was like Brian Jones from The Rolling Stones as he felt close to him because he was in a similar situation in the Stones as George was in the Beatles with the Situation with Paul and John vs Mick and Kieth and I guess they both felt like they were a bit invisible in the band sometimes just going by an article I read when Jones died George had written an article talking about Brian it was kind of eye opening and a bit sad too but I’m with you as I’ve always been a big George Harrison fan myself too !
Ringo Starr was their drummer, and sang occasionally. His most famous song is With a Little Help from My Friends, from the Sgt. Pepper album. Ringo has a very distinctive voice. Once you hear him, you'll know when you hear him again. He and Paul are 80-ish and still alive.
It just showed how versatile they were but they did do a few "harder"edged songs like Helter Skelter, Revolution(with a powerful opening guitar 🎸riff). The others are George Harrison (who sang this song) and Ringo- the drummer, who sang a few songs, they made I believe 13 albums altogether, so there are enough classics to choose from
Get Back would be another that's a little harder. Also, much of their early stuff, including covers and their own compositions, were straight ahead rock and roll. There's collection of that just called Beatles Rock and Roll.
My late wife loved this song so much. It was probably the last song she heard--a beautiful thing. I can't cry hearing this positive, wonderful song, but some others get to me that way. The great positivity in this anthem is what she wanted played at her funeral.
Yes he did. What's funny is that he sang it more than once in tribute to John after Lennon was murdered, unaware obviously that it was George's composition.
This is what I currently am singing to my 3 month old granddaughter as a lullaby. I sang it to her mother, my 22 year old daughter and to my 23 year old son...just like my Mom used to sing it to me in the early 70s. We are a Beatles loving family and this song is the one that means the most to me. Love you both so much! Keep spreading that positivity. ✌❤

"Ticket to Ride" is pretty much _the_ transitional song between early pop-rock Beatles and later, complex work, and a fantastic groove to boot. I wish you'd try it soon.
It's great that you asked who were the other two during this song. George Harrison is the main guitarist and he wrote it and sang this song here. And it's beautiful!
They played this at my sister’s wedding in 1974 as they walked out at the end of the ceremony. Still brings tears to my eyes. They just celebrated their 50th anniversary in March & they’re still madly in love.
One song is really hard. The song "Helter Skelter" is considered by many to be, The first "Heavy Metal" song. It's really different from anything they ever recorded.

Here Comes the Sun is the song that played when my son’s fiancée walked down the aisle at their wedding. I was completely composed until this song started. ❤️ 😭
Here Comes the Sun has always been my favorite Beatles song. George Harrison was a genius when it came to songwriting. He had a good voice and was a good guitarist. He put his heart and soul into his music.
My brother passed away back in December. I edited a tribute video to be played at a dinner we had in his memory (also my dad's who passed away a week earlier). I used "Photograph" for the music.
@@firebird7479, I'm so so sorry. What a beautiful tribute that must have been. When I was a kid my father lost his dad and brother within two months. I remember those times well. My heart goes out to you.
I will never forget seeing the Beatles in concert in 1965. it's great that young people are listening to the Beatles and trying to understand their unapparelled impact.
My wife suffered with depression for years. When she finally found the right help, this song is the theme for recovery. It;s also a hoot to finger pick on guitar, especially the four note part "little darling"
The Beatles' two hardest songs would be "Helter Skelter" and "Birthday." Their most creative work, in my opinion, would be "Within You, Without You" (very spiritual/mystical.) And it's my favorite. The runner up is "A Day In The Life."
The single (rather than LP version) of "Revolution" is a bit harder edged, too. ruclips.net/video/BGLGzRXY5Bw/видео.html Or you could go back earlier for "And Your Bird Can Sing" from Revolver, or even to the start of their careers with songs like "Twist and Shout" or "Long Tall Sally" (both are cover versions). And I believe I heard Paul McCartney say that "Helter Skelter" was made to impress Pete Townsend of The Who with how loud and hard-edged a Beatles track could be. Some even see it as a song that led other musicians to move toward 'heavy metal'. So many great songs with lead sung by each of these great talents, from "Come Together" to "In My Life" and "Strawberry Fields Forever" and "Norwegian Wood" sung by John Lennon; "Paperback Writer" or "Eleanor Rigby" or "Penny Lane" or "Lady Madonna" sung by Paul McCartney; "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" or "Something" or "Taxman" sung by George Harrison; and "Yellow Submarine" or "Octopus' Garden" or "With A Little Help From My Friends" sung by Ringo Starr. And that's just scraping the surface, of course.
My mom loves the Beatles. She had a CD of their greatest hits that she would play in the car all the time so I grew up listening to them. Some other good ones are "Let it Be", "Yesterday", "I've Just Seen A Face", "All My Lovin'", "Eleanor Rigby", "Can't Buy Me Love" and "I Wanna Hold Your Hand".
I looked for a 'Greatest Hits' for the Beatles for decades, until they released their "1" album. I wish somebody releases a 'greatest hits' (IE: Not just their songs to reach number 1) CD, I'd snap that up in a minute. BTW: Here Comes The Sun is my wife's favorite song.
Being I was thirteen when the Beatles arrived and " knew" everything about them it's so funny hearing you say you don't know but 2 members. OMG, you have no idea how big the Beatles were...whole weekends on the radio playing nothing but Beatles music...I still know all the words to all their songs, 50+ years later!! Love y'all!!
I've loved everything that George put out there. From his time with The Beatles, to his solo career, and with The Traveling Wilburys. John and Paul's music may have garnered more attention, but George's songs always held their own.
this song reminds me of preschool i first heard this when i was three and I'm 52 now, and this song brings me back, so thank you for giving me this great peice of joy in my heart that i will remember until i die. thank you truly
my dad used to play this on his guitar and sing it to me and my sister before we went to sleep :). Every time I hear this song I feel that sweet warm feeling like I'm 5 years old again :). Thanks for the reaction!
Anyone here who is a Beatles fan, I highly recommend watching “Get Back.” You get to see them jamming and coming up with the songs that will never be forgotten with such ease. The chemistry they had is amazing.
John Lennon and Paul McCartney wrote almost 300 songs together. The main writer of each song took the lead vocal. George Harrison also wrote songs for the Beatles and sang lead vocals on his songs including Here comes the Sun. I hope this helps to inform your Beatles song choices in the future
George wrote this in minutes when he visited Eric Clapton and while he was waiting for Eric he was walking through Eric's garden with his guitar and the sun suddenly came out...the song jumped right out of him!
Someone (okay, I'll volunteer) needs to mention the masterful drumming Ringo provides, especially in those tricky tempo changes George likes to throw in.
I remember hearing this song as a little kid, like around 4 or 5 years old. My Aunt used to sing it to me when I was upset and it did make me feel better.

"Do the Beatles ever make anything kinda harder?" One of the first ever metal songs was made by the Beatles, try "Helter Skelter." It can't get any harder than that. "Glass Onion" and "Twist and Shout" are kinda hard as well.
"She's So Heavy" on Abbey Road is another one. I know Jay reacted to that one early on but should give it another listen after hearing more of the Beatles catalog.
This was the great George Harrison on lead. Try Something for another one of his greatest songs. Ringo Starr was the drummer and infrequent lead but he did do Yellow Submarine and With A Little Help From my Friends, both worthy tunes.
For Ringo, I would recommend his solo stuff, like It Don't Come Easy, or Photograph. However, for a his earliest compositions, Octopus' Garden is a peek into Ringo's whimsy, as is Don't Pass Me By. Early 1970, is a very interesting take by Ringo, about the Beatles, immediately post break up, each verse describes Ringo's relation to each of the members, and then a self deprecating final verse describing his own musical limitations at the time. He is still releasing original music at age 81, with only covid limiting him from touring.
Harrison's coming of age - having been 'the quiet Beatle' - was a slow but sure progress. Interestingly, he was the first Beatle to have a UK No.1 following their break-up, with the contentious 'My Sweet Lord'.
After losing the 'He's So Fine' lawsuit, George wrote 'This Song' ruclips.net/video/T0i9rjTxhpY/видео.html as satire, which in turn was parodied by Weird Al as '[This Song's Just] Six Words Long' ruclips.net/video/do5vXn_Rap4/видео.html
The fact is that the Beatles always put the ART into their artistry. Their music is a theatrical performance that is totally beautiful and evocative. They created concepts with every song.
In the midst of all their conflicts, George penned and sang an allegorical tune of hope and love which turned out to be one of their most melodic and beautiful songs. It truly has been a long, lonely winter......
“Did the Beatles do anything harder?”
“Revolution”, my dude.
Helter Skelter probably

Seeing them literally changed my whole life trajectory because I formed a band and made music my lifes work! At my 50 year class reunion I played Here Comes The Sun for my classmates! So fun!
I hope you kept your ticket stub.
Yes. I saw them same year at the Hollywood bowl. I remember before they sang Help John made a point of telling fans that their new movie will be in color this time
Great story, thanks!
Just tell it like it is, “anything Beatles”! Never disappoint

Everything John, Paul, George, and Ringo touch is gold and that's not an overstatement.
My dad asked to have this played at his funeral. 6 years later and I can listen to it without crying. It is a beautiful song written by George Harrison, he was an amazing song writer, please check out My Sweet Lord ❤
It’s on my list to be played at my wake/funeral.
Jane Hamill ........it is curious that you mention " songwriting " and " My sweet Lord " in the same sentence........a judge RULED IN COURT that the music for " My sweet Lord " was the same as " He's so fine "( chiffons) and thusly said the songwriting funds from " My Sweet Lord " be taken away from George and given to the composer of " He's so Fine"
A song of hope. After the darkness comes the warmth of the sun. I said goodbye to my wife of 48 years with this song. I close my eyes and there she is.
"Revolution," "Helter Skelter," "Come Together," "Hey Bulldog," and "Don't Let Me Down" are some of The Beatles' hard rock songs. Ringo Starr is the drummer and George Harrison is the other member, who happened to write and sing Here Comes the Sun.

Today's your birthday and Back in the USSR are hard edged as well.
Don't forget "Why don't we do it in the road."
@@3Angela Oh YEAH, this is some poppin' garage funk that lays down the concrete facts.
Beatles do not fall into any one category. Their music is all over the place. Not just soft. Varied.
George Harrison, the gentle genius who was overshadowed by John Lennon and Paul McCartney. I loved his voice and his spirit. I was so sad when he passed away.
The instrument Amber was asking about at the beginning was a Moog synthesizer.
They reacted to that one not super long ago. Go back and check it out.
@@johnplaysgames3120 Don't know how I missed that, but thanks, will do.
Typical sound of a George Harrison song, gentle and melodious
Their entire catalog is tremendous. "A day in the life" would be a nice next reaction. The Golden Slumbers medley is my personal favorite.
Right there with you. If had to choose one Beatles' song I can't live without it would be Golden Slumbers
I've been searching for reactions to those songs. None yet

It started working in 1962 and still has a beautiful effect on us today.
I love this song, but "Something" is an even better George Harrison tune.
Yes I was going to suggest this one too. It's my ultimate favourite. :)
actually i like this better
It's the one that Sinatra picked.
That’s one of the sweetest, purest love songs written.
Yes I agree with you on that one
The “deepest” song of the Beatles, to me, is”Yesterday”. You really should react to it!
In my life is a close 2nd
Both fantastic song's 🤔👍💟✌
"Yesterday" is actually Paul's first solo track. no other Beatle appears on that song.
I love Yesterday; but I think Let it be has to be my favourite. I also really like Strawberry Fields.
I think Yesterday was one of the most covered around the world.
The most creative band ever!
And we always knew it was going to be a classic.
The Beatles. The best to ever do it.
The most optimistic song ever. Relaxing, calming, brings a smile to my face each time hearing. And often a tear in my eye too.
George Harrison is one of the coolest members of The Beatles that doesn’t get enough love and he was a musical genius !
My favorite Beatle!!!
George gets a lot of love, actually. Peace.
@@davidt9238 he does now but during the Beatles era it was Paul or John that got the love !
@@michaeldaugette802 You might be right, but my big brother’s favourite back in the 60’s was always George.
You can’t forget “Octopuses Garden” and my favorite, “Photograph”. If you are into movies…..Ringo Starr in Caveman. 😂
The two wrong Beatles are still alive.
Don't forget Dingo sings Yellow Submarine too.
@@feldspar3858 That's a terrible thing to say. They should all be here.
@@dana_brooke_27 - Just responding to the last sentence. I wish the Fab 4 were ALL alive and reunited.
Frank Sinatra said the “Something” by The Beatles is the best love song ever written.
Yes he did. What's funny is that he sang it more than once in tribute to John after Lennon was murdered, unaware obviously that it was George's composition.
"Something" really is a special song
He also routinely credited it to "Lennon-McCartney".

Agreed
Yeah, one of their best along with 'Eleanor Rigby'.
People finally realize just how much George contributed to the group. All his music hit hard.
"Ticket to Ride" is pretty much _the_ transitional song between early pop-rock Beatles and later, complex work, and a fantastic groove to boot. I wish you'd try it soon.
OMGawd... Ticket to Ride...8th grade!!
It's great that you asked who were the other two during this song. George Harrison is the main guitarist and he wrote it and sang this song here. And it's beautiful!
"Here Comes the Sun" is the ultimate Spring time song. I think it will be listened to in 1000 years it is so timeless. Just pure joyous music. 💘👌🎸🙃
They played this at my sister’s wedding in 1974 as they walked out at the end of the ceremony. Still brings tears to my eyes. They just celebrated their 50th anniversary in March & they’re still madly in love.
Amber would love “In My Life”. It’s such a beautiful song.
It's one song I've loved every cover of
Try "Fool on the Hill" for a nice mellow experience.
The Beatles' "Something" is probably the greatest love song of the rock era.
Frank Sinatra said it was the best love song he ever heard.
One song is really hard. The song "Helter Skelter" is considered by many to be, The first "Heavy Metal" song. It's really different from anything they ever recorded.
Haha I knew someone had to have written this. If not I was going to. Yeah the ironic thing is that they basically created that genre.

Perfect choice, it's been the ringtone on my phone for years 😄
Hey I really like the positive vibes from Jay and Amber. Big fan here
Here Comes the Sun is the song that played when my son’s fiancée walked down the aisle at their wedding. I was completely composed until this song started. ❤️ 😭
I just did a wedding where the bride did the same thing. Perfect.
It was George Harrison
Here Comes the Sun has always been my favorite Beatles song. George Harrison was a genius when it came to songwriting. He had a good voice and was a good guitarist. He put his heart and soul into his music.
It's my favorite, too. And I always play it after we have like three days on nonstop rain, like a ritual mantra. George would approve! 😏
"Photograph" is a wonderful song by the drummer, Ringo Starr. He's in his 80s now and still performs. "Peace and love"
I love this song!
Good
My brother passed away back in December.
Photograph sung by Ringo but composed by George.
You're making me feel ancient but at the same time I'm really envious that you get to hear all this beautiful music for the first time.

My favourite George Harrison song. Especially in Scotland where we don't see that much sun. Very uplifting and smooth. A truly gorgeous song.
So right there bro. soar alba!
Music certainly is great therapy ,no doubt about it 👍🎶
The Beatles' two hardest songs would be "Helter Skelter" and "Birthday."
Their most creative work, in my opinion, would be "Within You, Without You" (very spiritual/mystical.) And it's my favorite. The runner up is "A Day In The Life."
I would a revolution to that list...
Back in the USSR is another.
"I Want You (She's So Heavy)" and "Helter Skelter" for the hardest, hands down. Agree "Within You, Without You" is the best.
Don't forget Oh Darling
The single (rather than LP version) of "Revolution" is a bit harder edged, too.
ruclips.net/video/BGLGzRXY5Bw/видео.html
Or you could go back earlier for "And Your Bird Can Sing" from Revolver, or even to the start of their careers with songs like "Twist and Shout" or "Long Tall Sally" (both are cover versions).
All songs by the Beatles are wonderful. Some are just more wonderful than the others. This is one of them.
Timeless. Decades later, people are still touched by the Beatles. Centuries from now, they'll still be listening.
**TRAVELING WILBURYS**
Love George's voice, so beautiful. He was definitely my favorite Beatle.
this song reminds me of preschool i first heard this when i was three and I'm 52 now, and this song brings me back, so thank you for giving me this great peice of joy in my heart that i will remember until i die. thank you truly
my dad used to play this on his guitar and sing it to me and my sister before we went to sleep :). Every time I hear this song I feel that sweet warm feeling like I'm 5 years old again :). Thanks for the reaction!
"She's Leaving Home" will bring a tear to the eye, as will "Eleanor Rigby", just superb craftsmanship.
Love seeing young people like yourself keeping this incredible music alive after almost sixty years
This is a good example of why George has always been my fave Beatle. Mystical and magical
Mine too!!!!! ✌
And me!
I agree with you. He was the Best Beatle to me
Anyone here who is a Beatles fan, I highly recommend watching “Get Back.” You get to see them jamming and coming up with the songs that will never be forgotten with such ease. The chemistry they had is amazing.
Rest in peace George Harrison, the quiet Beatle with a lot to say. Another great song by him is "What Is Life?"
The best Beatle.
Ambers facial expressions are so genuine. You can tell she really falls away into the music and really experiences it!
And then Jay pauses it and yanks her back! 😁
I too, love watching her get lost in the sauce (as A&A say)
This may be just one of the most beautiful songs ever written.
That perfect outtro brings me to tears...George nails it
Love you two. Her reaction is like love. You actually placed your hand over your heart. That's how their music makes you feel.
Someone (okay, I'll volunteer) needs to mention the masterful drumming Ringo provides, especially in those tricky tempo changes George likes to throw in.
Anyone who dismisses Ringo Starr as a drummer, doesn't know what they're talking about. He was part of that Beatles sound.
I remember hearing this song as a little kid, like around 4 or 5 years old. My Aunt used to sing it to me when I was upset and it did make me feel better.

One of the first ever metal songs was made by the Beatles, try "Helter Skelter." It can't get any harder than that. "Glass Onion" and "Twist and Shout" are kinda hard as well.
"She's So Heavy" on Abbey Road is another one. I know Jay reacted to that one early on but should give it another listen after hearing more of the Beatles catalog.
I've always considered Come Together to have serious metal vibes.
Wild Honey Pie gets up there too
And Hey Bulldog.
@@chriswhinery925 **** yeah! (insert barking/howling noises)
She's Leaving Home-A lovely often forgotten song. It's a heartbreaker.
A favorite.
I love how you are both vibing to this song but at different frequencies. It's adorable!
Harrison's coming of age - having been 'the quiet Beatle' - was a slow but sure progress. Interestingly, he was the first Beatle to have a UK No.1 following their break-up, with the contentious 'My Sweet Lord'.
He came of age on the White Album with While My Guitar Gently Weeps.
The Beatles Live on the rooftop at 3 Savile Row is FIRE! “Don’t Let Me Down” is one of my favorites. 💜
In the midst of all their conflicts, George penned and sang an allegorical tune of hope and love which turned out to be one of their most melodic and beautiful songs. It truly has been a long, lonely winter......
