I have a 19 2500 L5P with 190,500 miles on the clock and I just had the P020D code pop Friday evening as I was getting off work. First check engine and reduced engine power issue in a long while. Last time it happened it was at 93,000 miles for the fuel rail pressure sensor and connector. Other than the glow plug failure under warranty and the lift pump at 74,000 miles the truck has been a great running rig. Plan on keeping her a long time. Thanks for the information.
I just had injector #4 and the pigtail replaced last week. GM service tech says they are too short and therefore strained from the factory leading to fraying. He also said injector #7 was the second most common
gm duramax has had injector connector issues back to the LLY and possibly LB7. There was/is a bulletin for injector 2&7 connector issues. The claim was lack of support on the wiring near the connector causing loose terminal tension and or broken wire at terminal. I wonder if supporting the wiring would help like it did on the older engines?
2018 LP5, 200+ miles. P0203. Picked #3 injector connector and fixed problem but just went bad again. Going with pigtail now but having to have a shop do the work…freakn labor cost per hr is crazy…

that hot pipe causing the terminal to expand over time is my guess. May consider putting an additional heat shield around the hot pipe??? By the way, a good many DIY are not concerned about polarity of the injector connector plug when replacing. You have stated that anything that has a "module" is polarity sensitive. My thinking is this could be a contributing issue to #4 injector connector if polarity is not configured correctly on prior repair thus causing early malfunction of the plug.
i bought a wonderful lemon. i had the HP4 high pressure pump go boom. Dealer replaced the pump and gave back to customer. it went to 2 auctions before i bought it. had to replace all the injectors and clean all the fuel rails... i had brass from gears in stock in tank lift pump in the fuel filter. Nightmare . luckily i'm handy and fixed it all myself. i will say L5P has one of the easiest motor to service injectors tho. flip that retainer and use as a puller boom. you can do 8 in 45 mins in parking lot.
@@Duramaxtuner other than that i love the motor. GM did work with banks help on the militarization of the L5P. This motor is meant to be easily serviced in combat or in the field.
One more consideration: is it possible to check the resistance of the injector while it is still inside the engine and possibly compare its resistance to other known good injector prior to removing the injector. Also, the pain in the butt is that resistance may be good on suspect injector; yet, it may still be "clogged". Therefore, injector resistance check is not always reliable. Are these correct statements?
I currently have my GMC Duramax Diesel lp5 sitting at Carl Black Chevrolet here in Orlando with number for injector and pigtail the service advisor has told me GM acknowledges that they a defective part and have a new part and part number and I still have to pay for this repair of I believe he said $2,000.00 or $2,500.00, I just ran out of warranty 2000 miles ago with 107000 miles on my truck now. I believe if you know you got a bad part you should cover the repair, I own a window and door replacement company and if a product is bad I replaced it for free. This just shows the greed of GM.
I only have a P026D and that's the only code. Replaced the Map Sensor, air filter and fuel filter and CEL keeps coming back. If injector #4 is an issue would I have other issues? Should I hook up can tool and see if I see a misfire while driving?
I don't have a fix.. My CEL has been on for months. I've used my Autel 808 scan tool live and cleared it and it comes back after a mins after I stop and turn engine back on. I did notice the high pressure numbers were in red and everything else is black so I guess could be high pressure switch ? but I have on clue. It's so hot down here in Houston , I think it might have something to due with the humidity that's throwing the light. I don't want to drop 3k into new injectors just to have the same thing come back up like others .... @@alvaroenriquez1555

I found that issue with my L5P I replaced the pig tail and it had already been changed. So at least 2 pigtails for #4 for my truck. 272000 miles.

Did warranty cover labor and parts? My truck is currently at the dealership but they want me to pay labor.
Mine is in the shop for the same issue.
Did they just replace the pigtail? Mines in the dealership right now and I’m going to tell them to just replace the pigtail

I heard the gold plated pigtails are the ones to get if you need to replace. Where is everybody getting them?
When L5P’s come in our shop it’s always injector 5 🤣.
p01d3 code Cylinder 5 on mine right now
Great information, thanks much!
Happy to be able to provide it @Jimm2442
It's because it's pulled to tight from the factory. And it arcs and causes arcdust in between the connector and clip

Part number on the pigtail?
Is it common for it to throw the service emission system because of the injector miss fire code?

So what legal actions can someone take where a dealership is just replacing parts and guessing at the issue?
