Great review, they’ve done very well acoustic energy not only with the quality of the product, but by keeping it Analogue only, with no built in dac/ Bluetooth etc, these active speakers will age very well indeed, and have done already. I don’t see much competition at this price. I’ll be picking up a pair to go with my chord electronics Hugo TT2 as a small compact system. Thanks again.
Hi mate, just so I understand... If I bought the new bluesound nano as a streamer, can I just connect it to a mojo 2, then into these speakers and that's all I need? I understand they need separate power and stuff per speaker, how do you make sure your streamer and dac supplies both speakers? Have you got them setup with your TT yet? If so, opinion?
Yes you can match these speakers to your set up. Just use RCA or XLR from your DAC / streamer. Your nano should have a pair of RCA jacks (one red and one white) just tap one jack for each speaker and you are done
The Wiim Pro and Pro + do come with DSP as a ten band graphic EQ and a parametric EQ. That is the principle reason I purchased the Wiim Pro. I love that I am able to tweak the EQ a little when I need to. It takes no time at all, and it makes up for all these amplifiers with no tone controls these days. Thanks for the video.
Thanks for your review - I have the AE1 Active & I agree with pretty much everything you say; to sum up the sound in one word I would say 'explicit'. They are very coherent top to bottom and the level of detail is incredible, as is the overall value. Avoiding bright-sounding partnering equipment is my preference; I'd love to hear them with a valve pre-amp and that may happen soon. I think anyone looking to spend £2K on a power amp + speakers needs to hear these.
I think these actives are quite revealing of source and pre amplification, a better source and pre would and does give excellent results. I’m using my Naim 272 streaming pre amplifier using Tidal and Innuos hard disk player with superb results.
Thank you for the very detailed review. Great production. I wanted to ask you something related to bass: what do you think about bunging the bass ports on these speakers? This is really the only way I can get a handle on my room gain issue. Can this hurt the speakers/amplifier inside?
I have the Acoustic energy ae1 also with RME dac adi-2 and I have a question - have you tested the AE1's with the XLR connection to RME and if so, was it much Improvement versus the RCA connection on RME in terms of sound quality?
The sibilance occurring in the high-pitched range is due to 1. Source sound quality and recording environment impact. 2. The sibilant sound in the high-pitched range is a common problem with almost all low-priced Chinese DACs, so the solution must have a good filtering function.
I just bought a pair in gloss walnut. Wow they are much more stunning in real life! I'm looking to add a couple of subwoofers at some point. What would you say would be a good match?
well the great advantage of the AE 1 they don't USE DSP wich is bad for a pure sound.Them use them with balanced cables from Van Damme they will give a fuller sound
@stehlik I don't believe it's pointless. I don't know of a reviewer who doesn't disclose the price from the time of the video release. Even the guys from Europe post both prices in euros and dollars. Our friends from North of the border do the same. Just saying dude...

Thanks for the feedback, a Wiim Pro plus review is also coming soon👍🏽

Hi mate, do you think new wiim ultra would be a good match or these?
@themarksmanABP yes but you already have the nano so use that it will be fine
@@timothywimala3979 no, im considering buying the nano, i dont yet have it. Im building a system in my head til i order it

Absolutely, Naim 272 wow High-End stuff👍🏽
Active speakers can be further divided into analogue and digital (DSP) speakers.

Something musical, sealed and not big, SVS 3000 micro or velodyne deep blue are good examples!
Thank you for the review, i would really like to see the comparison with KEF LS50 Wireless!
Looks like KEF is not interested in sending their products to review 🤷🏾♂️
I think that there is no comparison possible here.

Ciao, so che parliamo di prodotti differenti, ma le acoustics energy ae1 le trovi superiori alle project box 5 s2?
Can you suggest more budget dac or integrated amp that will match them
It's a powered speaker👍

Measuring before auditioning can further bias and skew your subjective opinion. I think the better way is to do it the other way around.
Did i said before? If yes i want it to say after by the way..
@@MadAudiofficial I think you said before. I'm too lazy to go back and confirm...lol
@@razisn thank you i will check, but yes i always measures after the audition.
Good review however even after 5 mins the price wasn't disclosed.
Do you have internet? The price will be different everywhere, pointless to mention..
