this man found out a way to mix metal and trap and make it sound good stadium wise. this is like a kanye west 808s and heartbtreak era of trap music. whole lotta red is really simular to 808s and heartbreak . it was hated dearly just like whole lotta red was.... and boh albums birhed a whole new sound of rap music.
trap metal has been a thing since like 2014 with bones and ghostemane. Hell, X's 2018 question mark album has straight up metal and hardcore songs on it and that went to billboard number 1. Carti is just using the metal aesthetic. His music is not metal or fusing it in any way.

Then drill happened and Trap Fashion. Trap is as old as the early 2000s but it evolved into a broader genre. From that it morphed into what most say is mumble rap era. Were moving slowly out of that and now hitting this femme fatale era.

Listen to this. So carti was on Flex Up 4 weeks before WLR dropped. The sound was completely different to what we knew before hand. Then it ended up being the main sound for WLR.
So with him saying "new music real soon" "asap" and "I delivered" and his appearance on FEIN with a new sound I'm convinced that it's 4-5 weeks away
