I did this 20 years ago 😂 I was doing laundry and had bleach splash onto my skort, I loved it because it was shorts and a skirt at the same time and I was spending my time running after my son. So I looked at where the bleach made a stain and decided to make a vine going up to my hip, it turned out so well people would ask me where I bought it, so I made myself a few more and wore them for years. I did it on cotton and the color you will get depends on the base color of the dye that was used one of mine came out brown and another purple blue both of the items were black.
@BrintyArt~ Excellent Video! I love how your design turned out! FYI: Hydrogen Peroxide will Neutralize Bleach. So, when your painting, or even just certain areas of your painting, have reached a point which you don't want the bleach to further lighten the black color, you can mist or dampened that area with Hydrogen Peroxide and the bleach will stop the fading process. This is good to know because it gives you more control over your design while you are creating...EX: you can minimize the effect of bleach that you may have placed incorrectly. It will lessen the amount of post design work you have to do with the black paint + textile medium. ~~Christy~~
I’m trying to get a good handle on how this works so I can try it myself but is it truly safe to have bleach and hydrogen peroxide coming in contact with one another? That can create chlorine gas which is obviously hazardous😭
rather than tailors chalk if you’re doing a super complex design… i HIGHLY recommend getting the cheap sticks of chalk and shredding them, then adding water until you get chalk soup and then use a super thin brush and PAINT your design on. i tried this yesterday while working on an arcane project and it allowed me to be way more precise with my likes
oh im also working on an arcane project for my gf!! i know that bleach sometimes burns clothes (if left on for too long), did you have any problems with this??
@ not at all! i was doing a jinx themed sweatshirt. it has fishbones across the whole back with lots of other details around it. i did it in two parts: starting with the main part of the design, then doing the details and other elements later. washing and drying the shirt between. it worked well for me!
This is the exact video I was looking for, all tutorials on here were spray bottles. I had the idea, I just needed a small boost in confidence from a video like this, thank you!
My daughter loves everything anime. Thanks for sharing this great video I think I'll try to make a t-shirt for her. I'm always on RUclips trying to find different ways to do different crafts, I've never come across a video like yours. Thanks for sharing ❤️
oh yeah thats a cool thing, but always show her what thing you make becuase a few pannels or characters are cosideret weird or akward so make sure your daughter likes the motive. but yeah i bet you already know so have fun with your daughter!
I had learned a decent bit on this topic, piecemeal, through lots of other short videos. This is the absolute best, detailed explanation to get you started on bleach painting. Bravo! 🎉
THANK YOU SM FOR EXPLAINING THE COLOR THEORY!! I was abt to start my piece, but it has a Lott of lighting features and I was so confused as to how I should go about it.
1:48 I will both agree with wearing the mask, but also (from personal experience and artistically impulsive creativity) suggest a mask for spray painting doors at home 😬
This is exactly what I needed. I’ve made one shirt before but it didn’t turn out exactly how I wanted it to so I’ve been trying to find an actually informative video for awhile now
I didn't even think that was possible and I was very curious when I clicked on your vid, and after watching everything I can say that it's really cool and so detailed ! I will definitely try it if I get all the material and a great design idea, thanks !
I love how I knew what i was doing prior to watching. I Also love how you filled in my questions bc i felt like i was doing shit incorrectly and u showed me im not, so thank you. Me and you have great minds- i’ll definitely say you beat me to it with a youtube video so i applaud you but overrall thank you for existing, you helped a lot ❤
I didn't even think that was possible and I was very curious when I clicked on your vid, and after watching everything I can say that it's really cool and you explained very well ! I will definitely try it if I get all the material and a great design idea, thanks !
Wow I am utterly impressed. This is exactly what I was looking for. Thank you! Also, when you said “the fact I started a week ago and already have a video to refer you to? Pretty good planning on my part, I must say” I laughed out loud
Wanted to create a custom anime shirt but didn’t know how I should do it but now I know I want to do it this way. Gonna try to paint it in the next few days! Hopefully it turns out as good as yours :O
@@roxanna960 oh lol forgot. Yeah it came out great and was able to get everything right. I never painted using bleach before so the only thing I wished I had done was used more bleach on the brush to make the whites brighter.
That was a killer tutorial, especially since you said you've only been on YT for a few weeks? Crazy. Stick w it, bc I pretty much garauntee if you do one of these long form a week (and try to link back to them from your 'shorts'), you'll def hit 100K within a year. ... then you can spend your life craftin' and nothing else : )
Man. As much as i love my band hoodies the lack of more designs on it annoys me, def gonna use your guide to add more designs to them lol. Appreciate your advice!
this is just a guess, but since water kinda stops the bleach from bleaching, maybe you can spritz parts that you're done with with water to stop/slow down the bleach until you're done w the whole thing? or do it in steps that you can rinse between- lineart/shading kinda thing
Just what I needed! I want to make two hoodies for my friends as a Xmas gift and it’s also my first time doing this. Thaaaaaank u and have a wonderful holiday 🎉
SO helpful! And SICK shirt! I just want to do a Jackson Pollock style splatter white on a t-shirt where I got a lovely oil stain on it. I think the shirt will look cool with the splatter white and it will cover the oil stain (that I did try to wash out with oil remover stuff and it was only slightly successful. Thanks again!
This was a great video! I spent hours searching for what to do on mine and I finally decided on this: I’m going to do the two hands from the creation of Adam with a moth and a butterfly hovering over the hands and maybe some splatters or something and then I’ll write “FUND THE ARTS” at the top. That’s kinda confusing imao
This is hands down one of the best tutorials I've ever seen. Not just for bleach painting but- I actually fully absorbed the knowledge, and got exactly what I wanted by replicating what you taught. 11/10 thank you so much! (Edit: also this seems to be a really popular sentiment in the comments. You're a great teacher)
Thank you for sharing you mixes.. im just starting with this and am learning the hard way about mixtures for shades. I appreciate your video and especially your art ❤❤❤❤
Sick this is an amazing idea for a birthday gift OMG and the chainsaw man idea my son’s gonna love this might not look as good as yours but practice makes perfect I’m always painting with bleach

@brintyart I just flooded your comments a bit by replying to some questions! I apologize if that comes off as annoying lol. I just clean with bleach very frequently and have a lot of experience with sewing/fabric so I thought I would provide some input. Even if the people I responded to won't see my replies, maybe future people with lol. Additionally to future people: gloves. Latex, vinyl, nitrile, any of those. The effects of bleach on hands isn't immediate, but it will fuck up your skin. Caustic burns aren't always obvious. Okay I am done now, just had to spazz out for a second ;;
hii, firstly thanks for this awesome video!! just wanted to ask one thing, after i've made my art on the fabric, when am I supposed to wash it exactly?
Love this! But I don’t have those hardcore masks, I’ve been using typical surgical masks and doubled up with a fabric mask on top. Do you think this would be okay? Or any cheaper options for those masks?
The creator replied to another comment asking the same question and said that they only use the respirator mask if they are working in a smaller space with no open windows or fans, so as long as you have ventilation it should be fine
Thanks for tutorial, I have been searching a good one for days❤️❤️❤️ But I have a question, do you need that mask that u showed in the video? I have everything prepared but a mask, does a normal mask also work, the one we used for corona? Or if I don't use a mask will something really bad happen?
You don’t need it if you can work in an open space with a fan/open windows. The only time I use it is if I can’t do that :) if you’re in a small space for too long with no fresh air the bleach can give a bad headache
Hi!! I just used your tutorial to make my boyfriend a shirt :) it came out wonderful. however i need to touch up some areas with black paint. Can i use fabric paint or does it have to be black paint (not sure what kind) and a fabric medium. thank you sm!!
the confidence in doing the voice over before actually painting is crazy. Super impressed and thanks for the tutorial.

I heard that bleach can form holes if it remains for too much time on the shirt. Since drawing is a long process how do you prevent it?

She said a week, but did 3 days
hi one queestion i had about this is that does the existing dye in thee fabric bleed back into the bleached areas
great vid thanks
How do you wash it after painting? Like you always do other clothes? What about later, can you wash it with other black stuff?
Hey I love your video I think it’s very helpful buttt question. I’m not the best drawer so what can I do to make these designs
You can trace using a projector. Or you could always just trace off of your computer on a piece of printer paper. Cut it out and trace around that.
thank you for this very usefull video
I WISH I COULD DO THAT, IM AFRAID I'D MESS IT UP

is there any way to change the color of the bleached artwork after you finish? would dyeing it work?
For Drawing you can use white fabricPENCIL
I'm gonna do bleach blankets for my brothers for Christmas I'm nervous the panels are gonna be HUGE should I do it in sections? And wash in between?
