So collectables are only valuable IF there are people around who still want to collect them. There was a documentary about this old guy collect old phones and gramaphones one of the very few remaining around put in thousands of dollars for this hobby over his lifetime and now he's in his 90s, how many other 90 year olds do you think are still around that would be interested to pay top dollar to buy some of his collection? in the end only museum would want but they have notorious tiny budgets otherwise landfills after he passes. So most collectables have a time limit and If you cross the time and the customers are not around anymore because they dead then the value will drop to zero.
