I don't have a sad story for this, but I think the way it was used in Fear the Walking Dead was phenomenal. Maddie coming in and comforting Travis right as the music gets intense and the slow zoom out and pan to the ocean is one of the most beautiful endings I've seen in a tv show.
This speaks to me on so many levels, such profound volumes. Specifically on addiction. So many people I lost to this. And a big part of myself I lost to this too.

yea - i can get how it can feel a bit abrupt the way it ends ----- but i also love it for this reason. the message is delivered. there is nothing more to say. he is such a great lyricist and singer. it's really about an abusive relationship he happened to have been in. i remember the first time i heard it tho and i took it literally and thought it was about someone who died and it just broke my heart - it still does if i let it. this song and their other track 'Putting the Dog to Sleep", both just break my heart. If you haven't listened to that latter track - do so - especially check out the live version from WEXP i believe - a great forum for some great artists - Alice Russell does a great version from WEXP studio of her song "Citizens" - both awesome tracks. take it easy.

We thought she was gonna get a transplant and we were so happy, then the doctors pulled us in a room and told us that she wasn't strong enough for a transplant and that there was nothing they could do. I miss her so much.
i found this song on my own several year ago. a friend of mine and I just made up after a big fight and he showed me the song 'bear' from the same album this one is from and I ended up listening to the whole album. this song represents to me that our friendship was not a healthy one but no matter what we threw at one another, we both stayed and changed eachother for the better.
