As a young teenage goth I used to stay up late listening to John Peel instead of sleeping like my parents thought. I’d arrive at school the next morning completely knackered but with another mix tape full of great music! Wish I’d kept them but I’ve moved around a fair bit over the years and had to travel light.

Ethereal, beautiful soundscapes. I love the way the music and the singing weave around each other. It's like nothing else I've ever heard.

It's fucking amazing they weren't well known. I only found out about them 2 or 3 years ago, and that's baffling to me. I should have heard them earlier. Everyone who knows about them should spread the word.

@@NameNotAlreadyTaken2 They are very well known and are an iconic band that has influenced every dreampop, shoegaze and post rock band on the planet. Robin Guthrie literally wrote the blueprint for dreampop. Not to mention that every worship guitarist and and “ambient guitarist” on the planet are directly/indirectly borrowing everything they do from his playbook regardless of if they realize it or not. It’s less a question of them not being known and more a question of people needing to broaden their own musical horizons because there are scores of bands out there that have and are writing amazing music that many people will never hear because their musical tastes and desire to find new stuff is myopic in nature.

@@softlightsymphonyband I don't think many people my age have ever heard of them, though. I know they were never played on our local alternative station in the 90s. RUclips seems like the only kind of place I would ever have been exposed to them.
