Great cover. It always gets the crowd going. Tarja and Nightwish awesome as always.
It is so nostalgic to see these videos 😭 Nightwish remains incredible and I love both Anette and Floor, but Tarja holds a special place in my heart 💖 I miss the band's first era. It would be wonderful if everyone could get together at a show again. Tarja, Anette and Floor on the same stage, with no rivalry between fans, with everyone happily celebrating all the phases of the band 💖

@@Kelly-pp1et I don't agree, Tuomas writes what he likes, the music evolves, you can't grow if you keep writing the same music all the time. If they wanted to sell out they would start putting in "rap" sections to appeal to the pop radio stations.
@@Kelly-pp1et So what if it's not "symphonic metal" anymore, Tuomas can write anything he wants. Most bands I have enjoyed over the past 50 years that have had staying power have changed styles repeatedly over their careers. Pink Floyd was a "phychadelic band" in the beginning but became a "prog" band. The Cure were more "punk" in the beginning but went to a more rock/pop/goth etc. Bob Dylan was "acoustic folk" when he started but went electric. David Bowie made a career of changeing his styles and personas encompasing many genres of music. You don't need to like the changes but don't accuse them of selling out, I thing that is unfair i this case.
@@Kelly-pp1et I agreed, my point is all artists are allowed to change. I gave "facts" regarding other artists that have changed from there original "style" and I have enjoyed the changes. I don't expect artists to stay in the same style box for an entire career, I guess you do, to each his own.
@@Kelly-pp1et You might find them boring but I like them just as much if not more. Compositionally some of the new material is superior and I love the themes, I'm a scientist so songs about evolution, the cosmos etc really hit me where I live so to speak.

@@DrSkeff Please forgive me but this is a song written by Gary Moore in 1986, nothing to do with an old folk song from the 1800's. Thin Lizzy's Whiskey in the Jar is an old tradition Irish song but not this song.

Even so compared to the original clip, this is fantastic.
As others have said this a cover of Gary Moore. I like it - it's one of my favorite Tarja era songs - but at the same time I feel that unlike Phantom they didn't really change enough to make it 'theirs'.
I love old NW and new NW ..But to be honest Tarjas strongest areas were those classical and operatic voices. But More "rocky" areas were not that great..at least on live.

They are so young...looks bit like a high school band compared to todays Nightwish. Time flies. I got my first MP3 car stereo that year and this song was one of the most listened while driving that old Ford. Golden memories.
So here's a crazy idea......
Why not have both? Traja for tho total full fat opera parts AND Floor to handle the heavier growly parts. All the stuff in between, they can trade parts, play off of and harmonize with eachother. Not even best of both worlds, but 2 planets in perfect synchronicity ❤

Tareya . Listen to actual Finnish (Tuomas) people pronouncing it, the above poster is right.
@@Rosannasfriend I'm Finnish. Tareya is slang, and most of Finns don say it like that. I don't think Tuomas says that often either. It would be written like Tarija. It's not totally wrong if you keep that e (i) short. Some Finns might even say it likea Tarea (Taria).
In 2007 I met Tarja Turenen at a recording Studio near Moate County Westmeath in the Republic of Ireland at that time I didn't know much about her. I wish I had known Nightwish had covered Over The Hills & Far Away as I had been a huge fan of Gary's since I was 11. Over Hills & Far Away is from the brilliant album by Gary called Wild Frontier. The b side of Over the hills single is Crying in the Shadows which is a beautiful song & well worth a reaction video itself!

@@deanabennett8461 I'm not saying it is just a karaoke version, but Nightwish didn't alter it too much either. They just made it a bit heavier, and added Tarja's vocals. So Gary is not totally wrong. And I don't think he meant it a bad way. He knew who Nightwish were, and that they already started to be pretty big name.
