I never understood why Nickelback got so much hate. I never followed the drama since I was a kid when these songs came out, but as I got older everyone kept declaring Nickelback was trash and was terrible. Almost 10 years and I am still listening to this still questioning how they are terrible. Just because their personalities are kind of rotten (as I have heard), doesn't mean their music sucks. Still love this stuff.

i have a distinct memory of watching this projected on my wall with my dad when i was like 7
no matter how much you like or dislike this song, coupled with the music video is a work of art. it's perfect in a sense. allegory kind of sense. even if it's really literal, but art can be literal. Just this is a dream life for some people and real life for some people. Even if just having a lot of cars makes you feel like a rock star. like, if you asked one person for a list of definitions on things associated with being a rock star, then ask them to make a separate list of personal goals and dreams. Some people would probably want to have a drug dealer on speed dial, and some people just want to VIP with movie stars, have that little nugget of an extravagant lifestyle. many of these lofty goals might, by definition of it's existence, already be part of someone's life; one of those archetypes happens to be a "rockstar" be it literal rock music star, och like a figurative business mogul.
