you all probably dont give a damn but does anyone know a way to log back into an Instagram account? I was stupid forgot my password. I would love any assistance you can give me.
Been listening to David for over 20 years now since Follow For Now. My favorite all around artist. What a gem he is and we are so blessed to have him in our generation. Honored to share the bill with him locally in 2012 and hang with him for a bit. Super cool cat
So glad to see those JHS 3 series pedals make it onto videos like this. They are solid sounding pedals that are about as affordable as boutique pedals come which makes them a great stepping off point
I love the DigiTech EX7. It's an underrated wonder, despite the AC power requirement. I use mine with a blend pedal to turn the space station into an octave reverb.
I'm eventually gonna buy one of those boards when I decide that I don't want to make another one myself, but it will be a while. Loved his playing and sound in general.
Greetings! Looking forward to this! Also, which video was it; or, is it possible to do another about the new pedal boards? I have multiple pedals with expression pedals of various sizes and it’s hard to gauge which might fit with the risers and which would not fit. It’s hard to tell from the website of the smaller foot rocker pedals would fit or be usable with a riser as well. Thanks so much!
@@VertexEffectsInc i have two 18 volt isolated outputs on my truetone but I don't have any 18 v pedals. Can I use these " wasted outlets " to power my 9 v pedals with an adapter of some sort? Is there an adapter available for this purpose? Thx
David mentioned the size of the EHX. Have you tried the Dream Mender by Mojo Hand? I'd be curious if it stacked up to the holy grail might save some space. As always, awesome video.
Awesome board, I'd say the Meet Maude can get close to some of the memory man tones in a smaller footprint - love the look and sound of the memory man, though.
If I had all the money in the world I would just build all sorts of different pedalboards with different artwork for different genres for shows for tours for studio for wireless Busking just everything!
Looks great, can't wait to start wiring my Vertex board! Do you know if the buffer in the Mission VM-PRO volume pedal is any good or should I build a DIY Buffer/interface? I also have an ES-5 on the board, so wondering if I need separate input/output buffers to get the best noticeable difference. I was thinking about possibly modding the volume pedal into an interface to save some space... Also wondering your thoughts on the new Fender power supplies. I was planning on using a Voodoo PP3+ but the LV12 looks nice too.
Samuel, I don't know the specs on the Mission. If it's 1M input impedance and 100 ohm output it might be OK, but would just be an input buffer, you'd still need an output buffer assuming you'd put the volume pedal first. The ES-5 buffers are the same as any Boss BJT buffer, not great. The DIY buffer we do is a sure thing in terms of quality and tone. The Pedal Power 3+ is great! I don't know enough about the Fender supplies or the details on it. They don't mention if it's linear or not.
@@VertexEffectsInc Thanks for the info! Here's the published specs of the VM Pro. Seems that the output is 30 ohms. Input impedance 1V at 1KHz: Standard: 1M Ohm PZ: 10M Ohm Output Impedance @ 1KHz Normal Mode: 30 Ohm Fuzz Compatibility Mode: 10K Ohm
Love the solution for the power supply of the EX7. I have done a backyard version of the same thing on my board. Is there a link to the tiny little jumper extension cord you used for that?
Hey guys i’m making a pedalboard and i’m biking it around specular tempus and hx stomp, would these types of pedals last a long time like 80s analog pedals.
Hey Mason, how did you create "audition loops" for trying other pedals? What kind of jacks did you use to ensure no noise in the signal chain and what was provided to power these audition pedals?
Hey Rig Doctor, im sure you've seen this product already, but you might not trust it. The Rockboard Iso Power V16. It has 15 outputs, 4 of them switchable between 9,12, 15, 18v. There are not many reviews on it, I ordered it blind, not knowing if it would be noisy. It is more or less dead quiet. And it is very low profile, maybe similar in size to Cioks powerbricks. I have the slightest hum, but im sure the 2 solderless cables im using are to blame.
I don't know much about it, whether it's linear or switch mode, etc. We don't see them often here in the USA, or at least I don't. Could also be the transformer that's doing the "hum" if it's linear.
Mason! I need your help man. I build a new board and want to mount the power underneath, problem is this new gator supply has the AC input on its side and cant get to mount as easy as I'd like. I want to wire up an additional AC inlet on the outside of the board; (IEC cable plugged into the power supply hard wired to the inlet). Is this ok or should I just find a different place to mount? Should I get a fused inlet or does it matter? I don't think I've seen your interfaces include AC inlets so I was thinking there may be a reason.
John, sorry I can't give advice on this sort of stuff regarding AC. I did a few times in the past and was advised not to for safety reasons and that you could injure yourself if something went wrong. There are some dog-ear IEC mountable plugs that are female on both ends and require no cutting or soldering of new AC power cables. I'd start there.
@@VertexEffectsInc Thanks for the advice anyways, the female to female IEC would do it, just got to find the right fit. You truly are the rig doctor, thanks for your time!
This question is for The Rig Doctor himself (Mason Marangella). Sir, do you have a video that gives instruction on where "looper pedals" like the Boss RC-500 should go on the pedal board complete with switches and volume pedals? I have an RC-500, but I am not sure where in the chain this should go and how to properly hook it up, Can you please advise? Thank you
Glad you're doing these types of videos! Now go ahead and DM me for my contact information to send me that platform pedalboard like we "agreed" in my last comment ;)
Amazing board! But, may we turn our attention to the guitar for a moment? Is that an SG w/ 2 single coil lace sensors? And what kind of trem setup was on that guitar? I need answers. Thank you.
@@VertexEffectsInc I took it as “I usually don’t like tube screamers but I like this one “. It doesn’t really matter, I just wanted him to know what he was using. Plus I have mad love for that pedal
@@VertexEffectsInc it is David's signature pedal....I have one and love the edge of breakup setting on channel one, then you can add the second channel and its like a (not too) dirty boost! I understand that TMG is persona non grata and that DRH cut all ties from him in 2014...but its still great sounding pedal!
Quick question, is pedalboard noise etc. more of a problem for guitarists than bassists? Pretty much all the boards you build seem to be for guitarists and I wonder if it has something to do with the range of the instrument etc
Not the rig uncle, but bass players tend to simply use less pedals, and furthermore less gain pedals that sit in the frequency range in which noise is particularly noticeable. Bass players who use lots of fuzz/high gain amps, or high voltage pedals like Strymon units probably need the same amount of care. Ultimately, I think it is most likely the first option. Bass *generally* is trying to fit in with the drummer, and having big, time based effects pedals and swampy stuff can make that relationship fall apart.
No, it's pretty across the board - we have a video coming in a few weeks for bass players specifically and the similarities and differences in approach for a guitar rig versus bass.
@@M0M... Because there's a global pandemic, and it was completely unnecessary for him to have an in-person, in-home (and maskless) visit for this build.
