Oh my god and he even made the early Repulsor ray blasts sound more impactful. Goshdang I always wondered why they never made iron man sound as cool as he was in the first Iron Man movie but it all makes sense now.
"don't worry about consistency, worry about impact" true words from a Master Director, words can not express my admiration for this amount of detail involved. Kudos John
Well, it's more like most directors think "consistency isn't that important, viewers are too stupid to notice anyway. Rather concentrate on making it Look Cool" But there's a few of us who will notice the difference, the plot holes, when filmmakers change things just 'cause it suits them.
@@Vousie not really. It's more so about making memorable scenes that will stick with people. If you pay attention you'll see that Jon knows exactly what he's doing here.

directors tend to rely on trusted collaborators for these kinds of decisions. that's why you often see directors work with the same producers and crew, or as close to the same teams as possible. directors obviously work well with film crews who mesh with them well on a personal level, and who execute the director's vision satisfactorily according to him or her. a director really can't do everything alone.
6:55 What's cool about this discussion is you can see in the final film they added a shot after the punch to become the new "reveal shot." Wonder if it was a reshoot or if they just found another take to use.
Since the suit in that scene was full CGI, all they had to do was go back to that set and shoot a dolly shot to put the CGI suit on. If the set was already re-purposed, would be slightly harder.

Iron Man is still one of my most favourite marvel movie ever. It started something so so special and awesome. This movie was basically a big bang of the marvel cinematic universe. :)
The scene started at 1:00 was actually deleted in the final version of the movie. Obie was stunned by the blast of arc reator and directly fell from the roof into the reactor.
They had no idea how important this film would become, and what a legendary cinematic universe it would start. Also: I never realized Jon Favreau was wearing a wig there ;)
@@catha86 they definitely don't know since Kevin Feige even said that they would still be happy if it failed since at least they tried to made the movie themselves rather than other studios which was their main focus rather than a successful movie
It's amazing how good directors always have such a specific vision with every single scene. And they can give such precise answers and critiques to what they want to see on screen.
I hear Hollywood greats badmouthing these kinds of movies as not being real cinema. Iron man to me was one of the best movies I've ever seen as in I could stop and watch it any time. RDJ is a masterclass in this.
Had no idea John was doing the mocap for the Mark 1. It’s incredible how much they did staying with a small budget. I feel Kevin Feige dropped the ball trying to push Iron Man 2 opening the MCU so fast. You can see the direction & quality John brought into the first film.
And after jump starting the MCU with this mega movie, Jon started thinking about a story concerning a mandalorian and how it could inject new life into Star Wars...
I work in the business, and it is interesting to see how the process is roughly the same on any film during the post production process. A lot of back and forth and different people with different ideas. The director is obviously always the lead. It is fascinating.
Holy cow..at 4:06 Jon Favreu took off his hair. I had no idea it was fake. He was also wayyyy skinnier compared to how he is now in Spiderman No Way Home!
I never knew this was the guy that directed Iron Man. I always wondered why he was always featured in so many Marvel films. I always thought of him as the guy who got turned down by Monica on Friends.
Wow I've never seen the behind the scenes for the visuaFX. It's so cool to see them talk about the effects, especially two months before the movie released.
whats most fascinating is - jon the security head of ironman is somehow most non - intelegent or non techie guy of marvel in film and in reality he is the most talented and techie out there who started all the marvel journey - man this man gave so much to us. GOAT . rest is history - at first we can easily see that rdj has so much love and respect for jon... they had great bromance over the series - love to see them together.
The fact that the amount of sheer dedication Jon and his team put into this movie is unbelievable. I mean the amount of hard word he's putting into each and every single inch of those shots is mind blowing and the way he attains and corrects every unseen minute detail is what made this an all time spectacular and marvelous masterpiece. This is like the dope film of those times and no other movie during that era has pulled of with a CGI like this. God! It is as if it's almost real. I mean they were just trying to give their best in the work not knowing how iconic this movie is gonna turn and paves a path wide enough for more future projects. Love RDJ and Jon fav! Thanks to Jon Favreau, we got him as Iron man otherwise it would have been a lot more odd to see or even imagine someone else portraying this role.

Ah the pre Disney says the MCU had such a good start, no overly childish comedy and jokes just for the sake of being ‘family friendly’ practical props and sets that actually make the scene look far more realistic and movies that largely focus on its own character and not try to squeeze in a bunch of cameo or supporting roles of other non related character
I just finished a full MCU binge, from Iron Man to Endgame (plus the last 2 Spider-Man movies), and after that it's really odd to see/hear Happy Hogan calling the shots on how it's supposed to come together.
