I was bawling my eyes out when she sang this. If you're planning on seeing this movie, I would bring lots and lots of tissues. I cried throughout the ENTIRE movie!

totally blown away by Anne Hathaway's performance in this number. This song really brought me to tears :(
What people forget is that this is a film, not a west end musical. she has to get across the emotion of Fantine and how she is feeling, while having the advantage of not singing to a live audience in a massive theatre, in that respect she did very well. In the west end they have to have a strong voice to project it across the theatre, so don't have the option of putting as much emotion into it, they put a lot, but not as much as Anne can with her advantages. You can't compare the two.
She sings the entire song and it is chilling! I saw the movie at an advanced screening on Tuesday. It was absolutely brilliant.
My fourteen year old nephew went to see it....he normally wouldn't like this type of movie, but he actually loved it. The songs tell the story so beautifully that you forget the actors are singing their parts.

This is probably the only song in the film which I think is equal or better than the broadway version, there's so much emotion in this version.
Samantha Barks will probably leave you a blubbering wreck too. If Hathaway wasn't in this I'd have her as favourite for every actress award going.

I think this is the studio version. As far as i know, they've recorded two versions of the music from the film. I literally just listened to a from set version of this and they sound different :) i'm glad they sung it live

I agree, and if you also have heard the versions of the other Fantines, like Lea Salonga and Ruthie Henshall. This version would actually seem as if its not good. But Ms. Anne Hathaway still has her own way of dreaming a dream. Still a great job for the movie.

They didn't record any of the singing part in any studio. They only record the orchestra in the studio. This version is the version they used in trailer. It's just cut to a shorter version.

its mainly about the french revolution, and it follows the life of a man that goes to jail for 19 years for stealing bread, he gets out of jail. and decides to break parol and turn his life around. Theres A LOT A LOT A LOT more that happens, It;s an amazing movie, you should deffinetly see it

In an interview, she said it would be selfish to go for the pretty (real/ actually good) version. So she basically says that anyone who had sung this song the right way is selfish and sang it wrong. Going to see movie to see how Hollywood botches up another great musical
