    Well of course I have to say I loved the video!! My wife and I were on the train Sunday afternoon. We saw you filming at Remsen Hill (@MP U-19) - FYI, your dog standing so nicely next to you gave away that it was you filming. We passed right by you at exactly 6:00 on the nose with us in the First Class "City of Utica" passenger car. I'm just sorry I couldn't get my camera up fast enough to grab a pic of you filming us. However a bit later on in the trip at Thendera Station I ran into one of your train friends who was also on-board for the trip and he & I struck up quite a conversation on photography. I gave him my card, and he promised he would get it to you. It was a beautiful day for a train trip and my wife & I are glad we decided to do it. Keep up the good filming and we will keep watching it from our home back in Texas.

      Hey! Glad you saw me and Witold! Thanks for the kind words and happy you had a nice ride on the Adirondack. I’m looking forward to getting some video when the leaves are in their autumn brilliance.

    "Stittville, the field days!". Every time I hear the name "Stittville" I have to loudly say that because the commercial for the Stittville field days is burned into my memory for some reason. I never even attended that field days! People rarely know what I'm talking about - apparently I'm the only person who remembers the Stittville Field Days commercial!
    Also, about being woken up to a freight train - we were once having bad weather and I was woken up to the sound of a train. I thought it was a tornado, but luckily, before panicking, I realized that tornadoes don't have horns. ;)

      I think field days are mostly a thing of the past, although I wouldn’t be surprised to learn that a few local fire departments still hold them.

      @@railroadingrambler218 I believe the last time I attended one was in 1994 in Clark Mills and I stayed about 30 minutes.

      Oh do I remember the Stittville Fireman's Field Days from my youth! One of my high-school good friends was in the Stittville Vol. Fire Dept. for many, many years. He is now a paid municipal fire dept. Lieutenant with the Binghamton, NY Fire Dept.

    I really like your videos, which I follow from Italy. Since you comment them by voice, I use automatic subtitles to understand something more. I would be curious to know the exact name of your dog, because it is never transcribed twice in the same way ...

    Very nice! Any idea how many trains a day use these lines? Both railways.

    • @railroadingrambler218
      @railroadingrambler218  3 года назад +2

      The MA&N has 1-2 trains each week to serve the line’s only two customers in Boonville. Presently, there are 2 Utica-Thendara round trips per week now on the Adirondack (soon to include a Thursday trip I believe) and two Thendara-Otter Lake trips 3 days per week (I think). The season will end on or about Oct 16th.

    Hey rail rambler why did they stop running freight trains to lake placid to Utica .?

    • @railroadingrambler218
      @railroadingrambler218  3 года назад +1

      Well, Penn Central filed to abandon the line in 1972. Railroads don’t file to abandon profitable lines, so that’s the simple answer to your question.

    • @josephbrandt6778
      @josephbrandt6778 Год назад +1

      The line has been repaired and upgraded past Big Moose now eventually the plan is too reopen the line backup all the way to Placid.....Amtrack showed an interest in it.....we be working on it!👍
