I was about to say he did but I’m realising that was a guitar centre thing and it was actually KIRK that did a string theory. Yeah papa het needs to do a string theory, no question about it
His music has been the soundtrack for my life. From 14 to 52. Lucky enough to have seen them at their best (86' mop) and seen the genesis of thrash. What a fucking time to grow up in and this guy was already a legend in his late teens early 20s. If you listen to his lyrics he has told his life story to the world. The good and rhe bad. And even the ugly. People can hate on him but imo the greatest bandleader- innovator- front man to ever live. I don't feel weird saying I love the guy and I feel blessed for him sharing his gift with the world. His battle with the bottle and his honesty about it has inspired countless others to get help and pulled me out of a lot of dark places. Thanks for everything Mr. Hetfield.
3:32 Its the same V that James glued when he was young, right? You still can see some yellowish glue on the neck, its fking cool that after all these years he still playing the same guitar, so sentimental he is I think!!
This man has guided every note I play since I got my first guitar. The most aggressive and unforgiving tone, a front man for the ages, and pure punisher of wrists everywhere. Thanks Het. Ernie ball for the Win.
Gotta keep the thing hanging low…takes all the stress off the wrist….Johnny Ramone and Dee Dee showed me that and it was a game changer in the early 90s for me
Man, he’s looking so much better than recent years, stylistically and health wise. It’s great to see he’s healing, and I’m glad he’s not still choosing to look like an extra from Sons of Anarchy. Embrace age people, youth isn’t everything.
@@sjoerdyt9248 Do you know anything about it? This may be a dumb question, but is it just chrome plated or solid? That one always seems to have some extra heft to it than his other ESP explorers and I’m not sure if it’s the guitar or pickups or what it is
I mean… it’s about time he got his own brand of strings. When I was younger always played the Ernie ball strings that I heard he played. It cool to see a set come out. I’m sure it will change depending on live n studio, but where he likes his feels for the picking . It’s awesome
0:17 james says it best, whenever I think of Tallica I think this. James with his tight ass…. Riffing 😩, playing together with the band, and punchy with that heavy as tone they always have.
Mientras tenga una guitarra en sus manos, James jamás dejará de ser ese adolescente rabioso de los 80 que a puro talento nos rompió la cabeza a millones. Larga vida y gracias de todos los tiempos, Papa Het.
3:00 DUDE! James doesn't pick the low C or the low G of the chords - Hammer ons! Probably then pulls off of the low G to sound the open E, but he only picks the top 3 strings. Secret to that crystal clear Fade to Black sound!!!
Here's where I'm at: I learned about Ernie from his championship quality show car paint jobs in the early 80's. 35 years later I learned he had something to do with music, lol!
I've been playing for almost 30 years & have used almost exclusively 9-42 & 10-46 strings & if I have a good guitar never have problems with tuning or getting a "thick, beefy" tone or however you wanna describe it. I think it's all personal preference, & those are what I prefer.
This is the guy that made me pick up my first guitar now 15 years later n almost 30 I’m definitely a bad ass down picker as he is practicing makes perfect 🙂
I just got these strings yesterday. Boy they are THICK! Really seem to be something very special and dare I say it NEW. I will have my test mule Jackson DKMGT back from the re string and set up in a couple of days. Really looking forward to it.

I hope Ernie ball has upped the quality, because teenage me dumped a lot of my $7 an hour paychecks into Ernie Ball's pockets.
