His music has been the soundtrack for my life. From 14 to 52. Lucky enough to have seen them at their best (86' mop) and seen the genesis of thrash. What a fucking time to grow up in and this guy was already a legend in his late teens early 20s. If you listen to his lyrics he has told his life story to the world. The good and rhe bad. And even the ugly. People can hate on him but imo the greatest bandleader- innovator- front man to ever live. I don't feel weird saying I love the guy and I feel blessed for him sharing his gift with the world. His battle with the bottle and his honesty about it has inspired countless others to get help and pulled me out of a lot of dark places. Thanks for everything Mr. Hetfield.

@@ami2evil That was a stupid thing to say. These guys get flooded with new gear and deal offers more than you can imagine. Interestingly, Hetfield has been very consistent with his choices throughout his career and it's obvious he's not the type of guy to put his name on something just because someone offered him a great endorsement deal.

I just got these strings yesterday. Boy they are THICK! Really seem to be something very special and dare I say it NEW. I will have my test mule Jackson DKMGT back from the re string and set up in a couple of days. Really looking forward to it.

I talked to het's guitar tech years ago and he told me that het used 11-48 in standard, 11-50 in E-flat and 11 to 52 for D standard

3:00 DUDE! James doesn't pick the low C or the low G of the chords - Hammer ons! Probably then pulls off of the low G to sound the open E, but he only picks the top 3 strings. Secret to that crystal clear Fade to Black sound!!!

I use 11-52. 😋 However, I think I'm starting to develop some kind of arthritic issue in my left thumb in the back knuckle. Shit kills when I do a really wide vibrato with my left index finger.

Is that a new Het sig? I know its the old (lawsuit) ex shape but the ESP logo on the headstock is the same as those on his Snakebtye which suggests it could be new or was a recent custom build. I really hope so

He looks happy and healthy, and I'm happy for it. Ernie Ball strings sound great at first they become dull pretty quickly. I guess James has boxes of them so it's no problem for him.

I wonder if James is having his older instruments restrung with the new set(notice his workhorses of the past behind him, most notably EET FUK)….would require widening the slots on the nut to accommodate the heavier gauges(whereas he used 10’s years ago)…
