Any guest she found who was unhappy with her zoo got picked up and put in that enclosure. She declared that they would stay in there until they were happy again. Obviously, it didn't work. The guests just kept getting angrier, and no one ever left. Not even putting in food stands and seating helped. That prison got very overcrowded very fast.
I was that kid that was obsessed with Jurassic Park growing up, so releasing all of my animals to attack and eat my guests in Zoo Tycoon was a no-brainer. I trapped the guests in with some gates at the zoo's entrance until most of the guests were eaten! My parents would know exactly what I was playing on my computer as they passed my room hearing screams of terror. 😂

I feel like cheat codes are a dead art form, far more games these days need to have secret unlocks like "If you place a mermaid statue underwater it shatters and becomes a living mermaid" or "Name an exhibit Super Croc and it unlocks the deinosuchus" that stuff is so cool

love zoo tycoon, i just found your videos for the first time today, im a college student working front desk at my school doing nothing on spring break, i pretty much am getting paid to watch tv right now, so i decided that i would look up zoo tycoon players, found you and u have been making me laugh so hard dude, i just rebought zoo tycoon for the second or third time in the last 7 and almost a half years ( hadnt played it since i was a child, bought it after i got married, lost the game at my grandmas house lol then bought it again just the other day) i was laughing my bought off at u playing marine mania hearing u say " i pay u 800 bucks a month and ur going on a walk and not cleaning the tanks" me yelling at mantienence works to fix fences when i put them in front of the fence and they go somewhere else saying they have to clean trash like dude i put u next to the fenceeee. bahaha, love the game play and the commentary

Blast to the past! I loved that game so much. You should start a new game but starting from a really low budget and no cheats no matter how hard it gets lol It would be great. Also, Rollercoaster Tycoon would be fun game to try again too.

It really is amazing! They don't make games like they used to, to be honest! There's other little hidden goodies in my Marine Mania and Dinosaur Digs episodes too if you ever get around to watching those!

lol are you serious?! There's that many lions that you can start selling them off? I wish I would've known that so this playthrough didn't crash and burn the way that it did! 😂
@@Tytar Psrzewalski horses and flamingos are suited for that purpose too, but the advantage of lions is that male aand female ones have different models ofc, so it's easier to keep the appropriate male to female ratio in a selling spree. I think your big mistake though was focusing too much on the enclosures and forgetting about the guests. Putting down an entertainment venue, like the merry-go-round instead of the fountain would've helped out a lot already.
Thats a great point about the lions! Yea after I wrapped up my playthrough I realized I had spent so much on zoo stuff and not enough on things for people to spend money on. The game does a really good job and keeping it realistic as far as balancing money and zookeeping goes!
It's criminal that this game isn't available on Steam or Gog. To play it, you basically have to track down the original discs and hope they run on Windows 11.
I was raised by a family who weren’t much a fan of computer technology, however they considered tycoon games as acceptable due to them ‘simulating real life’… don’t tell them about the underwater base tycoon and moon base tycoon games. But I think my favorite map on Zoo Tycoon (if I remember right) was the large dune sea? If I remember right, it was because it was a giant flat map with no water and endless trees on the map… which I would sell for a huge amount of money or sell them in clusters because I was terrified of loans and bankruptcy in tycoon games, so areas of trees were more of ‘cash reserves’ to sell in emergencies until I was confident my zoo would last. Nostalgia. (Also I had zero idea of any of these Easter eggs existing. Dear lord.)

My fav thing to do was after getting many visitors, i put a fence at the zoo entrance (the whole zoo is an enclosure now), then I put an army of lions, on the other side of the map an army of rangers. Then i removed the fence at the entrance and the battle began, the lions hunted the humans and the rangers shot at the lions, my 10yo me was peak exited watching lmao Same thing w T. rex was wild to
If you want more money for your zoo, press shift and 4 at the same time. Problem solved, but just don't have any exhibits built or otherwise the chest will destroy your fences. 😅
I been playing 1 and 2 lately....I only have the ultimate collection for 2 no other expansions for 1 and I did NOT know about the unicorn. So when I play this game again I'm doing this

I'm sorry you're dealing with that, what type of PC do you have? Windows 10? And in what way is it lagging? Are you noticing the framerate is dropping? Or do you mean lagging like you're clicking stuff and the game is freezing with stuff you're doing?
@@Tytar The game is freezing. I have AMD Ryzen 5 and AMD RX550, the framerate is sometimes dropping, and when I move the camera, it will duplicate images, and that is just annoying. I have windows 10
Good question. You can search for it online since the game is considered abandonware. If you download it from a source you trust and scan with anti-virus, you can get it for free. If you have the opportunity though, purchase it! Though at the time of this comment, you cannot buy it anymore.

It was cool I recently discovered cheat codes to unlock unicorns and Deinosuchus which is a giant Dinosaur Alligator. I think you type super croc for your exhibit to unlock it. Xanadu I think is the code for unicorns oh yea I remember mermaids as well being in zoo tycoon.

@@Tytar Awesome! No problem! The Deinosuchus I recall is really big Alligator lots of water it needs and I think I had electric barriers I don’t remember if it can break free or not. I think it can.
Oh, I remembered also that I wanted to earn some extra money by breeding and selling some animals. I quickly realised that the warthogs were the only animals that got piglets very often, and not one but 3!!! So I would sell the old ones, cause they were getting old and would die...and kept the young ones to keep breeding on them XD
Annnnnd, that I used to block the entrance by putting fence around it so that guests wouldn't be able to enter the zoo and disturb me while I'm still working on it XD OMG so many memories...I loved this game, with marine animals and dinos too
this game really was so iconic for its time. It holds up so well too! There is a marine mania episode and a dinosaur digs episode too if you have not seen those yet. :) The things you describe about selling different animals as well as different strategies, I remember doing too! Not exactly the same, but you know what I mean :)
I remembered playing this game with my baby brother in 2008. I just started college and my brother started in kindergarten. There is a cheat code to make infinite money and make the zoo go chaotic. I would put like 100 warthogs around the zoo and a T-Rex was chasing the warthogs.😅
Great question! I still own my original copies. However, I have heard good things about archive.org/ and getting there. Please do so at your own risk, of course. I always say purchase it if you can, download abandonware for free at your own risk! In my experience, I have heard good things about the site, but I have not used it for Zoo Tycoon.
So love zoo tyvcon so basics wider paths 2-3 squares wide let your guests move mroe freely and makes them happier , happy guests stay lnnger and spend more money restaurants as said before cover all needs and are economical statues and bushes and rocks can make guests happier as well as things like torches and such use the walls to build cages just like dino digs its gives you room to expand as someone below said put your amenities in the center of the zoo so guests wander around and then cna use the amenities to be happy fun easter egg wait till christmas and santa will come across the sky, when he does check the trees section and a holiday christmas tree will be unlocked to purchase it has a HIGH happiness rating Also cretaceous crorral and supercroc both work in zoo tycoon basic this last one covers both zoo and dino guests can see 10 squares into an exhibit so keep in mind when you build large ones. if a guest cant see an animal they may be unhappy keep having fun 😺

Hi! This game is abandonware. Meaning you cannot buy it anywhere. If it becomes available for purchase, please buy it. But for now, you can go on Google and search Zoo Tycoon 1 Download. Download from a site you trust and scan with anti-virus and you can play it just fine!
I still own the discs. Otherwise, because the game is abandoned, you can go to Google and search: Zoo Tycoon 2001 ROM download. Because the game is abandoned, doing it this way is deemed 'ok'. If it was available for purchase, I'd say go and purchase it. Once you download the file safely from a source you deem trustworthy, you can open the file, it should be a .iso file. If you have Windows 10, it should open up the contents of the .iso file, you'll find all the Zoo Tycoon files inside. All you have to do at that point is find the Autorun.exe or find the ZooTycoon.exe file and installs just fine! This is assuming you have Windows 10. Hopefully this helps!

On mac, I'm not sure. But the game is considered abandonware now, so in order to get it you have to download it from a 3rd party source. Of course always purchase the game if it's available for purchase! Go online and search Zoo Tycoon 1 for Mac! (download from a source you deem trustworthy and make sure you don't get a virus. scan with antivirus!)

There is also a cheat to repare all the fences. Name a male maintance worker Bob V and all your fences are fixed. :)

My fav thing to do was after getting many visitors, i put a fence at the zoo entrance (the whole zoo is an enclosure now), then I put an army of lions, on the other side of the map an army of rangers. Then i removed the fence at the entrance and the battle began, the lions hunted the humans and the rangers shot at the lions, my 10yo me was peak exited watching lmao

If you want more money for your zoo, press shift and 4 at the same time. Problem solved, but just don't have any exhibits built or otherwise the chest will destroy your fences. 😅

I'm sorry you're dealing with that, what type of PC do you have? Windows 10? And in what way is it lagging? Are you noticing the framerate is dropping? Or do you mean lagging like you're clicking stuff and the game is freezing with stuff you're doing?
@@Tytar The game is freezing. I have AMD Ryzen 5 and AMD RX550, the framerate is sometimes dropping, and when I move the camera, it will duplicate images, and that is just annoying. I have windows 10

It was cool I recently discovered cheat codes to unlock unicorns and Deinosuchus which is a giant Dinosaur Alligator. I think you type super croc for your exhibit to unlock it. Xanadu I think is the code for unicorns oh yea I remember mermaids as well being in zoo tycoon.

I always took the map where there were the most trees or rocks, because I could sell those and earn extra money additionally to the maximised 500K XD
Oh, I remembered also that I wanted to earn some extra money by breeding and selling some animals. I quickly realised that the warthogs were the only animals that got piglets very often, and not one but 3!!! So I would sell the old ones, cause they were getting old and would die...and kept the young ones to keep breeding on them XD
Annnnnd, that I used to block the entrance by putting fence around it so that guests wouldn't be able to enter the zoo and disturb me while I'm still working on it XD OMG so many memories...I loved this game, with marine animals and dinos too
this game really was so iconic for its time. It holds up so well too! There is a marine mania episode and a dinosaur digs episode too if you have not seen those yet. :) The things you describe about selling different animals as well as different strategies, I remember doing too! Not exactly the same, but you know what I mean :)

I remembered playing this game with my baby brother in 2008. I just started college and my brother started in kindergarten. There is a cheat code to make infinite money and make the zoo go chaotic. I would put like 100 warthogs around the zoo and a T-Rex was chasing the warthogs.😅

I always say purchase it if you can, download abandonware for free at your own risk! In my experience, I have heard good things about the site, but I have not used it for Zoo Tycoon.

wider paths 2-3 squares wide let your guests move mroe freely and makes them happier , happy guests stay lnnger and spend more money
restaurants as said before cover all needs and are economical
statues and bushes and rocks can make guests happier as well as things like torches and such
use the walls to build cages just like dino digs its gives you room to expand
as someone below said put your amenities in the center of the zoo so guests wander around and then cna use the amenities to be happy
fun easter egg wait till christmas and santa will come across the sky, when he does check the trees section and a holiday christmas tree will be unlocked to purchase it has a HIGH happiness rating
Also cretaceous crorral and supercroc both work in zoo tycoon basic
this last one covers both zoo and dino guests can see 10 squares into an exhibit so keep in mind when you build large ones. if a guest cant see an animal they may be unhappy

Hi! This game is abandonware. Meaning you cannot buy it anywhere. If it becomes available for purchase, please buy it. But for now, you can go on Google and search Zoo Tycoon 1 Download. Download from a site you trust and scan with anti-virus and you can play it just fine!

I still own the discs. Otherwise, because the game is abandoned, you can go to Google and search: Zoo Tycoon 2001 ROM download. Because the game is abandoned, doing it this way is deemed 'ok'. If it was available for purchase, I'd say go and purchase it. Once you download the file safely from a source you deem trustworthy, you can open the file, it should be a .iso file. If you have Windows 10, it should open up the contents of the .iso file, you'll find all the Zoo Tycoon files inside. All you have to do at that point is find the Autorun.exe or find the ZooTycoon.exe file and installs just fine! This is assuming you have Windows 10. Hopefully this helps!

Not to my knowledge, I think it's just in ZT2 you can do 1st person mode! I've seen the game hosted there, I still own my discs after all these years!
