I know...made me cry...she's so humble and she deserves every cheer and every tear we all gave her. He's in awe and so humble and is so sincere. He wants her to have all the glory , he is nothing but grateful to be in her presence ❤
So much societal and artistic beauty was demonstrated in this performance. And although I hate commenting on how someone is physically presented, I found Ms. Chapman to be an image of elegance, depth, and poetry....And yes, his reverence was genuinely child-like, in the best way possible.
All that GLITZ and GLAMOUR at the Grammys and these two hit it WAY out of the park with one simple HUMAN song. Hope they record this together and add "Baby Can I Hold You" ....
For those too young to remember, this was a massive hit in 1988. Tracy Chapman is an icon and I’m glad Luke brought this song back into our musical lexicon.
Wow. You could see Her glowing. Kudos to Luke Combs for bringing Tracy Chapman back, and Her receiving all the respect and dignity that she deserves. What I really like is that he brought that song back as it was, with no changes, he definitely looks up to Her.
I was going to say the exact same thing! My mom and I love the original, and the first thing my mom said when we heard Luke's cover is that he kept it the way it was written, no changes of pronouns, key, or any alterations whatsoever. This reminds me a bit of how Harry Styles acted when he got to sing Landslide with Stevie Nicks - another absolute favorite in my family.
"he brought that song back as it was, with no changes" She only allows people to record her songs 'as is', i.e. with no changes. I'm so glad that she retains such control over her music.
That beautiful smile and unshed tears are so pure. She is so beautiful. Just glowing. Luke gave it all to her. No guitar, no hat, wore a suit. When he mouthed the words when she was singing that was all of us. I've probably watched this performance 100 times already. Glad I saw it live.
The huge smile on her face and the tears glistening in her eyes says it All. Well deserved adoration from the audience. So happy for her. Oh and a great duet as Luke stays in his lane not trying overpower Tracy but giving her the respect he feels for her and the song. The song his Dad played while driving with a young Luke in the car bonding over this song.
I love his “I’m not worthy “ bow at the end! To be standing on stage with one of the G.O.A.T.s of my lifetime, my children’s lifetime, and now my grandchildren’s lifetime!!!!
There is something about Tracy Chapman that feels so genuine, like what you see is what you get - and what you get is a voice so pure that you can’t help but be drawn in. This was a gorgeous performance - thank you for sharing it.
I wanna ticket to anywhere.. That’s what I wanted Listening to this song years ago, when I was in my horrible marriage Got out of it, got my freedom! Fast Car was my theme song!
It’s adorable to see how much Luke is loving this duet. Tracy sounds the same, looks virtually the same, and she’s enjoying this performance, too. We all love Fast Car, and he got to share it with her.
She is my idol!!! My mom would listen to her every night when she was alive, late night cleanings. To see her live would be the ultimate bucket list item. My mom passed at the young age of 53. So I went and got Tracy Chapmans lyrics tattooed to my arm. She would have loved to see this duet.
@@robertkemp185 Just stop with that crap. I've seen the performance - how come you're not calling out the other people who were standing up during this piece? Show me on the dollie where Taylor Swift hurt you.
Seeing Tracy's smile and cute dimples was just everything! I SO adore her and to see her once again perform this timeless song in person just made for a perfect evening for me. I didn't intend to watch the Grammys but shortly before I learned she and Luke were performing this I was all in!
Tracy Chapman is a song-writing/artistic genius. Watching this duet - it's hard not to be profoundly moved. This is the best of what America has to offer the world.
Tracy Chapman dropped an absolute classic in 1988. Just a pure songwriter. I was eleven years old at the time but I still remember hearing this song a lot and really liking it.
I loved this song so much as a teen when Tracy hit big with it in 1988 and I was delighted that Luke brought it back with such a wonderful and respectful cover. It was so nice to hear that Tracy loved and fully supported Luke's version . This was beyond beautiful to see them doing it together. They merged so well and were deeply respectful to both the song and each other. Tracy obviously being so overwhelmed that even after not being in the public eye for decades she still garners so much respect was touching to see.
Tracy Chapman has been incredible since I first heard this in 1988.💫 Personally I LOVE just Tracy singing it - have listened to her version for decades - so amazing and takes me back to different times. 💫
RESPECT 🙏 🤲 🙌 This performance was worth the entire night of watching all by itself. She looks like she's appreciating it all and finding a lost love all over again... hope this means we're going to be hearing some new stuff from her...
This is beautiful on so many levels. She is shining bright with the spirit of God and he is giving her the place and making a place for himself in the lexicon of human love and musical perfection
i bet all those years ago when she wrote and performed this song, that I remember so well from those days, that it would come back and be such a huge hit. I am glad Luke kept it in its original form and didn't change a thing and to watch her perform it again is just awesome for me. The only reason to have watched the Grammys was this performance.
I love how you could see her get emotional a little bit at the beginning when everyone cheers. I can’t stop watching this performance.
Me too. For once, during this time of division, we just hear the harmony in music. SAD that some people try to make something bad out of this.
Me either I can’t believe how many times I’ve come back to it. Please come back Tracy. ❤️
Same
Yup. I can't get enough, either. I hope she keeps sharing her gift with us. She's absolutely beautiful inside and out. I hope she knows it now!
I know...made me cry...she's so humble and she deserves every cheer and every tear we all gave her. He's in awe and so humble and is so sincere. He wants her to have all the glory , he is nothing but grateful to be in her presence ❤
The way he looks at her with such reverence is beautiful. She is an icon and deserves all the love ❤️
This performance was transcendent.
So much societal and artistic beauty was demonstrated in this performance. And although I hate commenting on how someone is physically presented, I found Ms. Chapman to be an image of elegance, depth, and poetry....And yes, his reverence was genuinely child-like, in the best way possible.
My favorite part. It's so wholesome. Like he cant even believe he's on stage with her

bringing her back? She never went anywhere brother

I've watched it 12 times. I've cried 8 of them.
I can’t stop my tears, the lyrics…

That glorious moment when you can sing the song of your life with the one who wrote and sung it... #priceless
So beautiful, she doesn't age and has always had a kind twinkle of light in her eyes xxx
The chemistry between them is powerful
Luke was like a kid in the candy store, watching his hero. It was a beautiful thing. Love and respect
