I like the point, about Four minutes in, when the two adult musicians realize that they are playing with a serious trumpet player and get down to business themselves. A very good trio.
Today I got to play in a concert with this kid. He is mind-blowing for his age. Right before the last song in the concert, me and one of my friends did a trio with Geoff for a thank-you song for the conductor. It was a moment that I wouldn't forget.
This isn't just taught. This is feeling, All credit to the adults who fed of Geoff and produced a great sound. I do hope that the future allows him to express his ability to play his own interpretation of the sounds around him. Signed a Miles Davis fan
I'm sure he had great teachers, started when he was six and practiced all day. He sure knows the chord tone arpeggios. All great players had great teachers, in one form or another and they practiced constantly.
Yeah he really has a great sense of phrasing. It's not just a bunch of licks, he really knows how to start an idea and develop it in his solo. Everything feels "coherent" in a way. Having that skill as an 11 year old is pretty crazy.
I guess im asking randomly but does anybody know a method to get back into an instagram account? I somehow forgot the password. I would love any tricks you can give me.
Man, I'm gonna have to get my jaw fixed. When I heard this young man's playing it hit the floor so hard ... Geoff will be a MAJOR talent if he keeps going.
Just the endurance for approx 6 min of playing is absolutely incredible. Just keeping the riffs going for a period of 2 min would exhaust most mature players. The speed of fingers and his attack is fabulous. This comes not only from extensive hours of practice but from great teaching and an inborn connection he has with sound, rhythm and that ever sought after connection. Listen to his Pennies from Heaven if you want more. Look forward to seeing him years into the future.
This stuff brings tears to my eyes every single time I watch it, which I periodically do. I love the face of the bass lady at the start of the solo, and the words of Rossano at the end of the song "but THIS GUY..." lol
Wow! when I was 11 years old I just started playing trumpet. I would have been happy to just get through a whole 32 bars. This young man is proving he is already a proven professional.
We are so proud of you Geoff. Hope to see you soon. Thanks so much for sharing your wonderful playing. It's so great see how much you have improved. WOW!
Oh, boy! A marvelous player! Puts me in mind of so many greats: Sheldon, Condoli(s), Snooky Young, Sweets...such a nice light touch and great runs!!!! I look forward to more, much more from this talented young 'cat'!
Yes!....... ' I was blessed to see Jack Sheldon & Conte Candoli play many an evening in LA SFV Jazz supper clubs among my favorite Life 101 memories...
You know, cuteness will take you only so far. And at first, he was so cute they were laughing at how cute he sounded being cool. But then the little brother brought it on and they cuteness laughter was replaced by shock and awe.
Hey the piano player and bass player did such a good job supporting this truly gifted kid. The trumpeter played in C but that meant the pianist and bassist had to do it all in the key of B flat which is quite a feat in itself since they would normally play it in C.
Once and a great while, young talent like this comes along. It gives me hope for America's music future! I'm sure this kid didn't get this good playing guitar hero on his video game console.
LITTLE JAZZ GENIUS ON TRUMPET At the Shanghai Jazz restaurant in New Jersey, the greats Nikki Parrot on double bass and Rossano Sportiello on piano play a duo. An 11-year-old boy, Geoff Gallante, comes over and asks to play the standard version Cheek to cheek. They start and it doesn't take two minutes to realize that they are in front of a true prodigy of the art of improvisation.
QUE VOULEZ VOUS??? GALLANTE EST UN GÉNIE!!! VIVE SON DNA E VIVE LE JAZZ....!!! DIRECTEMENT DE SALVADOR, EMERVEILLÉ AVEC LA VIDEO. GRAND MERCI ET VIVE LA VIE!!!
Beside seeing Geoff's incredible talent, I was delighted to see that, when he is giving Rossano the tempo he wanted him to play the song the public laughed thinking "this young kid thinks he is a great jazz player". That gives me an idea of how surprised they must have been when they heard him play.
Actually Sliphorn, it's a cup mute. The kid is definitely a great talent and on his way up. Hopefully the gravy trainers won't burn him out before he gets to college.
An incredible performance, Geoff! I really love this one! Your improvisation is absolutely brilliant, buddy! My best to you and your wonderful family! Denny
Who could have guessed that Miles would come back as a young white kid? Geoff has a beautiful gift! How many of we older trumpet players can hear what we yet strive to do in this young guy's playing? The present and future of jazz trumpet sounds as though it is in capable hands. Thank you Geoff!
He's amazing..what a great talent..In this youthful world of bullshit music & mediocrity along comes an 11 yr. old savior....I'm speechless....God bless Geoffrey Gallante...
Geoff Gallante is incredible, although these "enfants prodige" do appear relatively often. Not always do they keep the pace with their early promises. Geoffrey has - of course - already a language that belongs to a well formed adult good jazzman. May he persevere and create his own voice that may meet the expectations arising from this already very high level. It is evident -talking of Rossano Sportiello, the pianist- that Rossano did not know this little guy.. who, on the contrary, seems to be already famous. An impressive aquaintance moment. May it turn into history.

Oh my god, oh my god a kid playing like this ,gift from heaven.
Brings tears to my eyes.
A song from 1935 bringing so much joy to everyone

How can you have so much vocabulary at such a young age??? This is incredible!
having street
I'm sure he had great teachers, started when he was six and practiced all day. He sure knows the chord tone arpeggios. All great players had great teachers, in one form or another and they practiced constantly.
But David, it goes beyond the chord tones and the teachers. In the first five seconds of his playing, you hear an **understanding**.
Yeah he really has a great sense of phrasing. It's not just a bunch of licks, he really knows how to start an idea and develop it in his solo. Everything feels "coherent" in a way. Having that skill as an 11 year old is pretty crazy.

Great performance by all. Love Nikki on bass always. Wonderful of Rossano Sportiello to give such high praise to Geoff, he deserves it.

The faces the bass player makes are just priceless!
Oh yeah, and this kid is an absolute genius!

Could this be the second coming of Miles? Wow this guy has it all!
Che gioia sentire e vedere un ragazzo che già con tanta capacità approccia il jazz.Auguri e buona giornata.
I never get tired of watching this wonderful musical performance unfold.
WOW! Kid can play!! Swingin'!
Bass and piano killed it too! BRILLIANT.
The first 8 bars of the piano solo are testament to how good Geoff is!
That kid is out of this world. Wow wow wow...Cheers little buddy, you have brighten my day.
Yeah. You see it right away. He's on top of the beat..all over the music. Playing the spirit of the tune..he's got it all.
Genius in the making!....wow!!!..I think Geoff is 16 (ish) now....and is a fully fledged genius!
Can't tell how many times I've been watching this over the years
Wow! when I was 11 years old I just started playing trumpet. I would have been happy to just get through a whole 32 bars. This young man is proving he is already a proven professional.
When this young man started he got the feeling of the swing and showed his real talent with the trumpet
*Applause! This kid is gonna be in jazz/trumpet history!
We are so proud of you Geoff. Hope to see you soon. Thanks so much for sharing your wonderful playing. It's so great see how much you have improved. WOW!

All I can say is WOW! What a talented young chap!

Fantastic! This is a STRONG affirmation that there's hope for the younger generation truly being able to create and play great music!
When I can't play anymore, I'll know there is someone who can carry on this tradition!
F's sake, genius at work! What on earth will he become?
Dude has got the style down really well. I can't wait to hear him grow up and make some awesome music.
This is my favourite video on RUclips. So excited to see this kid keep evolving into a whole new animal! mazing.

@@mattinthehat8361 is not double bass player? I ask this for a better use of my terminology in the English language.
Geoff has some serious maturity, and Rossano and Nikki are a pleasure to listen to
as well.
This is what humans should do instead of fighting and politics and military
