First race I attended was F5000 at Laguna Seca in 1970. My buddy and I were 15 and took his dad's car (no DLs) to the race. I knew then that being a race car driver was my destiny.
For me this paints the problem of most historic racing stateside. Some epic race cars but only a few of them pushed hard. Compared this to most races at the Goodwood Revival, with front line and current racers pushing them often quicker than in era and it's a palpable difference in 'racing'. Great video and thanks for sharing.
We were at Seattle International Raceway at the vintage races back in the 1990's. About 10 of us were standing around a F5000 waiting to hear it start. Oh, it started alright.....and nearly blew both of my ear drums out! My ears rang for the rest of the day...LOL! Good times at SIR!!!!
You probably dont care but does someone know a method to get back into an Instagram account? I somehow forgot the password. I would love any tips you can offer me.
@Iker Aden Thanks for your reply. I found the site thru google and Im in the hacking process now. Seems to take a while so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
Man, with all the amateurs, this is crazier than Daytona, Craig! Frickin' scary in all these expensive vintage race cars! I was happy to see you start to put it down when you cleared the backmarkers. Nice work, kid. Give our best to Bud and Biz, and Kirt. (and thanks for posting this, Leah!)
Man that car was visually so much faster than the others. He had so much more corner speed and braking. Lots of mobile safety cones for him to pass. Almost didn't get one lap with any rhythm as he was blocked by cars he was nearly crashing into they were so slow.
@@ded3eat exactly. I see historic races and then you see actual races in the past and you quickly find out who is actually driving to full potential and who isn't.
Very nice drive .. no dangerous moves ..well thought out racecraft..why did you start in the rear of the field? Did you suffer a mechanical or didn’t qualify at all? Another 10 minutes would’ve been great he might’ve been able to mix it up with the front fast guys .
this is what we got after CanAm these cars were really fast also not far off formula one I saw both race at mosport Bowmanville ontario AJ Foyt was dominant in this series, love the famous corkscrew the most feared corner in racing
Parade or sunday drivers in very old cars.. not everybody is racing. You should check it out in real life, to get a feeling of the power and how much they slide in corners
My grandfather, Taylor Spurlock raced these in the 70’s. He said it was a Lola chassis with a Chevy motor. From memory, I thought he said it was called formula 4 or Can am. His team was sponsored by the Panamanian dictator. If anyone has any information on this, please reply
Don't forget a lot of them are internationals, never seen the track before, and Craig has obviously done a LOT of laps there so has the braking points down pat. Still a great drive though.
With the can-am or F5000, Craig is a real racing driver, but that it's not simple with many guy's to walking an forget the mirors ! in historic racing, that can be dangerous
Weird comment section.. friends write, which is pretty cool. And other fans.. but then you have people who doesn't understand, what event this is. And kids, that can't distinguish this from a computer game, because they never been to a race. And a few, that couldn't help but notice the title
Doubt that anyone, who bought a very expensive and unique car, would want to crash it and also if you value your health.. as these cars are not great at crashing
Without doubt the best driving and car control I've seen. Safe, but so fast.
saw all their races at laguna in the 70's....love this

Nice to see someone at these events who can actually grab the car by the scruff of the neck and drive it.

I used to go to Riverside Raceway frequently. The Formula 5000 or Formula A's were my favorites. Great sound and scary fast.
Seriously fast car. f5000 is just awesome when you consider that it’s nearly as fast as 70s F1 for a fraction of the cost.

@Iker Aden It did the trick and I now got access to my account again. I am so happy:D
Thank you so much, you really help me out !
@Kelvin Kelvin Happy to help :)

I wanna race in something like this
That last pass in the corkscrew was sweet!
Thank you for A-1 driver and car experience. Wow!
Fantastic drive!
Superb demonstration, thanks for sharing
How F1 looked back in the 1980s and 1990s... The art of classic racing is truly still alive and well.
What?

That's mostly driver. There's typically 2 or 3 people in each race that actually drive historic cars near their potential.

Thanx 4 the ride.
Nice to ride along with a competent driver for a change.
NICE DRIVE, great gutsy passes!
We have many of the F5000 for sale, AND a Shadow F1!! All great cars, join in for the 2023 Monterey group!!
That was awesome!
Driving a very rare Shadow DN6 Dodge powered F5000 EX Jackie Oliver
That ex-Gethin #22 did a good job of coming back at you for a second. Nice drive Bennett's

Maybe my favorite on board footage of all time in the history of the modern world

I'm not familiar with Formula 5000, those cars are seriously powerful. So cool when he pulled the pin and let it rip! 😃
WOW THANK YOU...
awesome drive
That engine sounds as brutal as the Sauber Mercedes c9 prototype car, its a funny looking car thats a brutal thing to drive
this reminds me of myself when I'm out on my motorcycle except my Buell sounds more like NASCAR
This car is absolutely fast
Wow! He made everyone else look like they were running 55 octane fuel!
Nice drive!
The AI difficulty must be set to 20%

Wow - a lot of turkeys in that group - but a nice job getting through them! My stomach hurts from all the twisting and gyrating I was doing.....LOL

@@LS2MGB His car also clearly has a LOT more power than most of the other cars on the track.
Awesome
Masterful
What car is he driving
Is this your car?
What a ride!!!
Was waiting for the dinosaurs.

THAT was enjoyable. Car a bit tight and showed in traffic. Worse thing is judging the slower cars. And some were very slow!
That car is so fast
Has that car got a 427 in it? Scary fast.
F5000 stood for 5000 cc or 5.0 Liters which is 305 Cubic inch.
@@XA351GT I was joking, that it is so fast.
Looks Fucking Dangerous !!
Another barn burning session with Craig!! ALWAYS a front runner....beautiful car!! RaceCarLocators.com

It's inspiring to watch a DRIVER vs a bunch of rich guys trying to drive a car they lack the talent to be operating.

Can't believe that Dickie Smothers raced these in the early 70's. Lotus 70 I think.
Rocket sled on rails
That was a race? Could of fooled me. More like parade laps.
Ha! Pre-historic cars.

F1 cars are water pistol compare to F5000

hahahaha!!
That car got warp speed
He running something different cuz it’s way too fast😂
