They're STILL gonna do it again, adobe is there with apple and microsoft owning the market and pisses us off with bugs and shit without worrying about revenue.
One thing Illustrator needs is a huge upgrade to it's key board shortcuts. There are so many things that are not possible with keyboard shortcuts while other programs let you assign practically anything as a keyboard shortcut.
patience is key is the number one rule of a designer. More time you spend on something to perfect it, the more you learn. try it sometime. besides, you need to start basic.
There are tons of features we don't know and we are not good at using too..I think we tent too often to look for what is "missing" rather than improve what we already have! No kidding. I have a new fully specc’d MacBook Pro and I have issues with the GPU, corrupted files and strange errors/ at least one a week I have to delete my preferences and start over. It’s a bloated garbage app, I miss Freehand.
@@radioactivecat Yeah, i run Illustrator on different Platforms (OSX + Win10) and yet it still manages to crash reguraly on fairly new hardware. I think the software needs an rewriting from the bottom up.

I know it's not simple to rewrite the software but an important program, "state of the art", as Illustrator MUST use all cores if a cpu.... we're building vehicles to fly to Mars, you know..ah ah..:( (nothing to laugh with all the money we pay...!)
One new feature that needs improvement is the new ability to unlock individual items. It creates a very specific problem. If you have an object, with an object on top of it, lock the object on top, then try to select the object below by clicking on it. Of course, you can drag a selection around it and get it, but imagine that you have several objects stacked this way. You know that the one you want is 1 level down, or 2 levels down. With this new feature turned off, you can click on the top object using a modifier key and it will select the next object below, and continue going down through the stack. With this new feature enabled, it won't select through the top (locked) object. It only took me minutes to realize that I couldn't use this new feature. Other than that, I really hate that when you make selections over the locked objects, the locked objects "appear" to be selected. While I know that they're not, it is very disconcerting to look at it. I can't shake the feeling that when I move or delete or scale, the locked (but selected) object is going to also move or scale. Adobe needs to work this out. Coreldraw has this feature since the early 90's I think and I've never had that particular problem with it. It doesn't get in the way of anything else I do.

Haha. Probably. I have a new Illustrator problem myself. Whenever I'm using Illustrator, Windows Explorer has performance issues. As soon as I close Illustrator, Explorer goes back to normal behavior. I have no idea what is going on with that.
Improve the inclusivity of the recolouring artwork tool and text design work. I'd say that's awesome. Hey, at least you're not put into a position where you have to buy the full software again.
Compare this to what Astute, makers of the awesome plugin suite for Illustrator, did. New tools, seriously useful new functionality that makes Illustrator a way more powerful program. And Astute is a company a fraction of the size of Adobe. They're constantly innovating. When companies get big and monopolistic, they get lazy, greedy and arrogant. Affinity Designer is still significantly behind Illustrator, but eventually it'll catch up if Adobe continues like this. Look how long it took Adobe to give us decent sized canvas for signage, a feature asked for years on Adobe forums, and it's still clunky. Affinity vs Adobe - the tale of the tortoise and the hare? We'll see. In any case, competition is good. Adobe sure needs a competitor to spank them.
Very well put. There is a lot of innovation happening in the background (think of Adobe Sneaks) but the larger a tool gets and the broader the user base, the harder it is to make changes. I know many of the Illustrator developers personally and trust me, they work very hard and they are passionate about making Illustrator the best tool. Having said that I'm glad to have competition in the market. Look at ProCreate for instance. Without it I'm not sure if Adobe would have invested so heavily in iPad apps like Fresco, Ps and now Ai.

This must be a joke, Adobe has money enough to do great updates to this software, but does nothing because its the mos vector design software. This is a good reason to move to Affinity Designer.

In my opinion the best thing is that with the „recolor” the color theme can be picked up also from a raster image. Finally :)

The font height may be usefull when you want to pair different types, and make them work better together.

eraser tool, hold alt, drag a selection over the part of the object.
