As you asked if this format is good of " putting the look together" ?: yes it is helpful as it gives even a better picture of how each element as a build up makes the whole look complete. It's a motivation to build on an outfit completely and not just judge by 1or 2 elements and then give up half way by telling self that it doesn't work . Thanks :)

I liked this video because it basically encourages us to capture the spirit of outfits and looks we love even if we cannot recreate the specific elements of a look that are what initially draws us to love it.
I’m embarking on a no buy for 2022 so this is all very encouraging for me.

I love the idea of shopping our own closets, rather than engaging in consumerism and always chasing after what we don't have, which as you pointed out, isn't good for us or the planet. We don't usually consider the negative impact of throwing away usable items and increasing our landfills, or the clothing manufacturing process which puts gas, liquid and solid pollutants and by-product waste into the environment.
I really like this format of seeing your thought process, from looking at pictures and picking out key style elements to choosing outfits and backups from your closet. In all the style magazine articles and videos I have ever seen over the yeats, this is the first time I have seen the thought process of identifying different style elements and picking out similar outfits. It was a very helpful video. Thank you and have a great summer!

I have been way more deliberate and more conscious while shopping since I came across your channel way back when you started it. I am still a maximalist but with way more restrain and have a closet full of things I love to repeat wear. The styling challenge is to rewear the same things in as many, many different ways as I can. Where I am most a maximalist is in accessories and shoes which makes it easy.

I really enjoy this format as you walk us through this process start to finish. For many years I gravitated towards boho style and acquired loads of very colorful, mostly busy pattern pieces. Now at 47 all of the sudden I feel as if my closet is screaming at me every time I open it. So I’m on a new quest towards softer look. And following your advice I give myself time with new pieces selection. But yet I feel as all my looks are very safe and predictable. So glad I have found you Alyssa and this wonderful community here. I’m hoping to learn to be more .. well as you would say “ classic with a twist”! Thank you for all your priceless lessons!

Thanks to watching some of your videos, I went out of my comfort zone and when thrifting the other day I picked up an off-white designer silky collared button up - in one fell swoop I completely elevated my wardrobe. Couldn't believe it. Not my color or style, yet I discovered I can wear it over tanks and it adds a pulled together and almost expensive look to what before was sort of well...sloppy, or today I popped it under a black oversized scoop neck tee. I never could figure out how to wear that tee, it looked blocky and blah, but the collar shirt under (it's very light and sheer so still fairly comfortable in summer) completely turned into something I could wear out to coffee with capri jeans and feel pulled together without being over the top. I also really appreciate when you note not everyone wants to show off their waist or "curves." No matter my size, all my life, I gravitated towards the layered everything hanging down straight look - you've offered several tips I can incorporate to help take that silhouette out of frumpy (what's cute at 20 is bag lady at 50 sadly!) to intentional and artsy. Thanks for your videos :-)

Hi, Alyssa! Thanks for another fun video. Wanted to point out, that Mindy K has a theme in her look: the sweater vest and the baseball hat purse both harken back to original early days in baseball. The players wore the sweaters (very early on) and the old leather look of the hat... A nod to beginning baseball.

Loved these looks! I actually liked the black top out and not tucked in. It really highlighted your slender waist and hip! The Victoria Beckham looks were great, too! I would never have thought of putting red and a light blue together. Both looks worked, but I think the fitted red sweater with the stripe top replicated Victoria's look, better. If you had a light wash denim button down shirt....that might have worked as well. Every Canadian I know seems to hasve a denim or three jacket, jeans, and sometimes shirt in the three shades of denim....dark wash, medium, wash and light wash. Of course there are other denim colors as well, but the three washes of denim are very common up north in your territory. I actually started copying this as I found these very useful~

I got inspiration from the way you approached the Mindy Khaling outfit. I have a metallic pleated skirt. I don't have a baseball cap purse, or patterned knit vest, and my current body shape isn't most flattered by leaving a shirt untucked without a belt or something. So, I like seeing how you turned the inspiration into something you'd actually wear. As you've said before "inspiration, not necessarily recreation". YOu completely nailed the Victoria Beckham look, and that tailored look is accessible to most of us for everyday/office/work and errands. For the Liu Wen look, I might have tried your cognac loafers because they would tie in with the leather on the basket bag, and be lower contrast than the mainly white uppers of the pointy flats you tried this time around. As always, nice looks! I bought a ticket to your next live event!

Also just think these videos are such fun. I love the way you evaluate the elements of style and walk us through your process. It has helped me define my own style and love working with my wardrobe in a way I never did before.

I love it. The strange thing is, even when You try to recreate a totally different style than Your own, You still makes it Yours. You have an elegant sophisticated style that sometimes totally contrast with the style You want to recreate, and You make it almost identical, BUT, You still makes it yours. The elegance and proper classical style. Even the most anarciatic crazy once. And You look great. It is good. It makes me want to go and play with my wardrobe. Because it shows, I think if we have an interest for fashion, we do most of the time have our own personal style. And as long as we are aware of that one, even if it is unconsciously, we can play with our clothes. Look at celebrities and other styles and we will still get it right, with some thought process and intuition. I have been a bit afraid of doing that before. But after zi saw how great You looked and how sophisticated and classy the outfits made You look I just want to start doing the same. No one can deny that sometimes (not in Your examples though) celebrities can look as if they just grabbed the first clothes they laid their hands or eyes on, and they will still be praised (for their cool looks) I discussed Sinnead O'connor, Natalie Portmans and Demi Mores shaved heads once with some friends. We all agreed about that if anyone not famous would get that "haircut" people around them would think they m either were sick, suffered from som mental issues, or had joined a cult. But the celebrities all looked great ( except in the tragic case of Brittney Spears) Having that said, I do not encourage You to shave your head. Even though You just might get it done with class🌝Even fashion has its limits. I think🙄😀⚘
