I run ugly Stik as well. I love them. ML Bait caster with Abu Garcia 4601C4 loaded with Berkley big game mono and a Trilene Sensation leader. It's my lightweight rig. I also run a 9'6" MH Carbon Catfish 2pc with Abu Garcia 6601C4 and 50# big game braid. There's lots of rocks on the bank here so mono is better than braid from shore but I'm experimenting by using a copolymer leader.
Congrats!! I just caught my first one last week. You caught that snakehead at one of my home ponds , i know they are in there but I haven't been there since last spring!! That pond has been hard since the snakes showed up in there, I'm glad you got one to bite for you !! 🎉
My man is into fishing! Now subscribed to both your channels, I love fishing and wasting loads of money on camera gear I don’t use! Looking forward to this!
Wow, great job! I'm a bank fisherman from the California Delta. We don't have snakehead but sometimes gar and sturgeon will surprise you. I'm a carp and catfish guy. I also really love perch , a good sized perch is satisfying. The frequency of fishing expedition you described is average ime. Would you consider doing a catch and cook for snakehead? If release only I respect that just curious. Tight lines. Catch a giant.
Hey buddy! I know the spot you got your first one at. You ever wanna go snakehead fishing hit me up (I live close to where you got that one at). One tip -- be careful dragging the snakehead out of the water like that. I noticed it in this video and your newer video. If they thrash when you drag them like that there's a good chance your rod tip will snap when you start landing the 8+ pounders. Trust me it happened to me a few weeks ago! I caught my first one this year as well and now i am on my 10th or 11th Snake Cheers
@@snaggindragons If you don't care much about the rod, go for it. I had a KastKing and luckily they replaced the tip. Goodluck catching more the activity should be picking back up soon
Awesome! Epic catch!

Congratulations on that first snakehead I enjoyed the content also and I’ve been trying to catch one for a year now.
Thanks bro. They are everywhere. Just gotta figure out the pattern and don't overthink. Just get as many casts out as possible to present the lure.
@@snaggindragons yeah but where I’m at I only seen 2 sightings of them and I’m in Cecil County
Bro your area is loaded
@@snaggindragons I guess imma have to search harder and I can only do on shore fishing I don’t have a kayak or a boat 🤣
@@JohnSmith-ut1hq there are shore fishing spots... how far are you from Loch Raven. Seems like people are catching there.. i havent been
Should have gotten a crab cake from GM while you where over there i definitely recognize that spot I got skunked there 😂😂😂
You’ve given me hope though I definitely need to go back

Gotcha. It's also why I got Uglystiks. I might keep doing it until it snaps just to test it out. No joke.

Try a bump bar, aluminum ruler with a bent nose , slap them quickly against the bar lying flat and get a quick measure. My two cents. Enjoy.
