    A good Q&A video, great to see Allys in front of the camera for a change.
    It's not easy being an expat, as you say learning the language is critical to being fully accepted/ integrated into the community in a rural area. You've both got a fantastic attitude, keep up the great work, and thanks for posting! 🇳🇿

    Scorpions are not life threatening but I got stung by a yellow one here in Algarve and it was the most painful thing I've ever experienced, 5 hours post sting I was in hospital for pain meds.

    • @rootsdownhomestead
      @rootsdownhomestead  Год назад

      Ah no way! I've heard from others the sting is very painful and the young scorpions cannot control their tail so you're more likely to get stung from a small one (thought that was an interesting point!)
      We shall stay away from them :D

    Bom dia. Têm de começar assim os vossos videos para treinarem português 😊. Fico muito contente que queiram aprender a nossa língua. Há 30 anos atrás vive na China e também era impensável falar ao telefone. 😅Pessoalmente também eta difícil porque as pessoas lá eram muito fechadas
    Nós temos um almanaque, um pequeno jornal , que é anual e que ensina a época das sementeiras e das colheitas das hortas em Portugal assim como os produtos a cultivar. Esse almanaque chama-se Borda de Água e podem encontrar informações na internet.
    Espero ter dado uma pequena ajuda.
    Já me estava a esquecer, eu também adoro cães e os vossos são muito fofinhos ( very cute) 😅

      Obrigado pelas dicas também, sei que noutros países deve ser muito mais difícil aprender novas línguas. Os portugueses são óptimos e muito acolhedores :)
      Muito obrigado por teres visto!

    The biggest problem with the British is living in a bubble, I know British people that are living in the Algarve for 15 years and don't speak Portuguese

    • @rootsdownhomestead
      @rootsdownhomestead  Год назад +1

      Yeah i think you are right there, if you move to a country, i think you need to make some effort to follow the local language, culture and values!

      Don't know where you live but I'm from Portimão and senior citizens from the UK and from all over the world do have their difficulties with the Portuguese language but all of them do try their best.
      Younger British in the Algarve do not speak Portuguese but that might be because they prefer to speak in Algarvian , I know a young couple in their twenties , he's English but from Wales and she's from Norway and both of them speak better Algarvian than the Algarvians themselves.
