Or rather: Latvia and Lithuania are two brothers who at some point in time (a long time ago, don't even remember when exactly) moved near (my nation) Estonia, and after Estonia's courageous but a bit naive little bro Livonia became too weak to pay the rent for his room, Latvia moved into that as well (same apartment/land - now Latvia lived in both southern and northern room, forming a whole of today's Latvia). And while we are quite different in nature and interest, we've shared some of our bullies for centuries (Russia and Germans mainly) and united for our common goal - freedom. As for the whole Nordic thing, the main reason we really want to go there is kinda a matter of jealousy. Our big bro Finland is accepted while we are not. (it's not really a big deal in reality xD, If you'd ask an ordinary estonian about it, the response would be rather uncaring but "well... it would be nice if we were included, after all Finland is included, and we have more common history with Sweden/Denmark than we have with Latvia and Lithuania. I mean, we are neighbors true and co-operate in matters that concerns us all, but we don't know much about ourselves, unless we actually visit them ourselves. I for example know more about a lot more about China or Turkey than about Lithuania (let's see: famous cities Kaunas and Vilnius, hot-blooded as baltics go, close but complicated relationship with Poland, Christian nation (catholic like Poland) , was a great Empire once and for some time united with Poland, supposed to have awesome architecture... that's it. We are closer with Latvia with whom we've had more aligned history, enough to write a worthwhile reply about it all, but again, we are not too knowledgeable of each other's situation, unless they happen to be same - problems with russian minority for example)
Well I am Estonian and we have tried to be one the nordics as long as I remember... We are a lot different from Lithuania and Latvia and our language is similar to Finnish... To be honest, Estonians act like the nordics already, but our paychecks aren't that high :)
