I remember 4 years ago wishing for an "ultra extreme graphics card" (didn't know anything about pcs back then)
I got a gt730
Same, got gt730 back in 2017. Then upgraded from 720p to 4k lg tv as monitor for a year and half. It was during this time mining started and you know it. Then got 1440p 165hz monitor this year. All this time my gt730 crying in the corner. Finally upgraded to 3060🥹 after 2 yrs of GPU prices disaster. It was quite a journey.

I remember when I had a friend that yelled at me because I didn't buy a computer that had a GT 710 in it.

Honestly the GT710 is an amazing device for one feature in particular: It is the single best troubleshooting device I own. I have only ever plugged it into 1 PC that refused to boot afterwards, and that PC had had its CPU dropped and the PCIe lanes weren't connecting properly in the socket due to the damaged substrate (this was an 8700F, so no iGPU to be found). The GT710 may not be a good graphics card, and its hard to even call it a display adapter, but I always keep an old passively cooled GT710 in my troubleshooting box just in case - its got me out of enough issues to be worth keeping.

I have Intel UHD 770 graphics and it’s pretty capable to play light weight gaming titles with.
Upgraded from a 710 to a GTX 1080 about a year ago. Best decision ever made, even though I overpaid cause of the shortage
1080 is hands down the best GPU investment imo. Back then, prices were not overly expensive and 1080 still holds rock solid.

GT710 is one of the cheapest solutions to add extra display outputs to small form factor computers that accept half height PCIe cards... everything has it's use case, even this.
I wonder how many mobile phones have been made in the past five years that would toast this bad boy 710 for breakfast...

It's useful if you just need an extra display out for multi monitors or maybe the display output on your motherboard is broken
If that's the case than just get a GT 1030. It's cheap and gives a much better performance. The GT 710 has no purpose in this current generation.

It's the cheapest way to add multiple ports for displays for a multi-monitor setup to servers and many OEM PCs, so it's not useless, it's very useful in business and sysadmin contexts.

The 710 *IS* the 210 relabelled! Its a superb card for playing back movies although, as a 3D animation professional, the Quadros do have better colour ;)

4 months down the line, history has not changed.
I remember back in 2015-2016 when this card came out, everyone was saying that it was the best budget card to get. And of course, I got it. But it really just shows how far budget GPUs have come. Back then, you need to spend at least $150 for a decent budget card, maybe lower if you're fine with buying used. But now the selection for $150 cards are amazing. You can play triple A games with a new $150 card today, 7 years ago it was only a dream.

This is correct..i remember one of my friends ask for a quotation for a custom build for 3d rendering..we recommended a GTX 1650 at the time. At first my friend company agree with the quotation..but somehow at the last minute his boss disagree and somewhat have no faith with the small company and went buying a pre-built pc from another company which is bigger..I ask my friend what build did he bought and he showed me the receipt..The graphics card was a GT 730 but the processor also has a integrated graphics which is alot better than the gpu plus the price is roughly the same as the price that we gave from the quotation but higher performance. "Customer is Always right" they said.

@@duscha55 I don't really play very modern games, I got 2 cards for rendering since it scales linearly (2 cards cuts the render time by half), and I enable sli for overwatch mainly, I get nearly double the performance.

The first PC I bought was a 500$ pc that had a r5 3600, GT 710, 8GB of ram, 240GB of storage, and a b450m. I still use the PC, except I upgraded to a r9 5900x, RTX3050, 1TB internal, 12TB external, and 32GB of ram. Im glad I bought the 500$ PC, though. Its what got me into building and modifying them.

It might be better but the thing is when you use your cpu as ingrained graphics its using half of you cpu for graphics. When you have a gpu your cpu can use all its cores to get better performance.
Not true. The integrated graphics is on the same die as the rest of the CPU, yes, but it is its own separate unit, and the actual CPU cores are not used for graphics, if that were the case the performance would be even worse since that isn't what they are built for in the first place.

The GT710 video card is now only used because it is available with several HDMI ports. Therefore, it is easier to use with multiple monitors than with the integrated video card on the motherboard. Of course, the performance in games would be even worse with multiple monitors, which is why this video card is still only used in office machines.

If you need to run a Linux machine with an 11th or 12th gen CPU but aren't able to boot in UEFI mode for technical reasons though, this card is a gem since Intel started restricting iGPU to UEFI operation only. Miniscule resource requirements, passively cooled and never really gets warm, a rock solid VBIOS and actually looks half decent. Cracking card for server or basic desktop use.
Every GT#10 should be looked at as a premium "Video Adapter" rather than a "Graphics Card"
You actually can add it to a system that already has an existing good card and use it only to add more displays if your current card happens to be full. If you must have that many displays, that's the way to do it.
You can still do all the rendering on the main GPU.
I actually learned that from a colleague that happens to professionally stream on Twitch. Granted this was years ago. For all I now, you can use the ports on the motherboard on more modern systems now. (I always felt like that should be a thing anyway)

these are good for one very specific thing, they're great for test benches and general purpose rigs where you need multiple inputs/specific inputs for monitors but onboard doesn't offer it. Also it saves you the headache of building around an integrated graphics CPU and mobo combo that might bottleneck upgrading in future
