Thanks to anyone who watched, hopefully you found at least something of use in the video.
Watching it back I definitely say "um" way way too much. Something to note for any future videos!

its a great video man keep it up tbh. I dont mean anything in a negative way but a great suggestion for these type of videos is to include sections for the different aspect of these speakers and also give a audio comparison wherever youd like that to be but i think the audio comparison is one of the most interesting parts when it comes to speaker comparison for veiwers. You definitely know your stuff about these speakers and gave a really good in depth review and would definitely be what people are looking for.

@rayhanramnarine3532 Thanks for the feedback, really appreciate it! When you mention sections do you mean the chapter headings? That's an advanced feature in RUclips Studio that I don't currently have access to but I have applied for it. Once I'm able to I'll add some to this video to make it clearer for people what I'm covering at various time stamps. Definitely agree that's a useful thing and something I certainly look out for myself too. And I did think about doing a sound comparison but the recording gear I have I don't think would really have captured the sound of them well enough. Also I'd need to get more into video editing in order to include that and that's not something I'm able to do currently, but definitely something to work on if I do more vids in the future! Really truly appreciate your kind words and constructive feedback.

@@ednewmy undertandable don’t worry. I actually never knew that you needed RUclips studio for that it makes much more sense. But yeah you’re doin great in terms of in depth comparisons and stuff like that.

@@ednewmy maybe try a tiny sound clip and see if there’s a difference because people definitely like hearing that. But your good tho don’t reach for something u don’t necessarily need rn or whatever choice u make.

I love the clarity and detail you get with Edifier speakers. Especially when you take advantage of their Hi-Res feature. The bass is also clean and well represented for me. It doesn't get super low, but you can feel it least. I boost the bass a little using the equalizer. They are great for any genre. I was just blasting out broadway music earlier. 😅 The instruments and vocals were just so lovely. Everything sounded clear, rich, and balanced. It was just a wonderful listening experience! 😊

Nice video, mate! I use a 3+ year old pair of iLoud Micro Monitors for my MacBook Air's audio. They still sound good, but my busy travel schedule definitely has taken a toll on them. I tried the Adam D3V. Returned them after a week. They didn't sound any better than my beaten up iLouds. Gonna try the M60, next. The price is pretty incredible compared to other compact speakers. Good luck with your new channel!

@@Mad.Maxx.77 Thanks! The iLouds are a very well respected speaker from what I understand, though I've no experience of them myself. I'm sure you've seen Jasper Tech's videos where he compares the iLouds to a bunch of other mini speakers, including the Kanto Ora. Not sure how the Edifiers will compare with the iLouds, but that's all part of the fun isn't it, trying new things out for a different experience!

I just purchased the Kanto ORA's and I love them. Even though the sound was the #1 reason, the front knob was also a deciding factor.

    • @ednewmy
      @ednewmy  8 дней назад

@@rob21 That's great to hear, really glad you're pleased with them! They are a great speaker that do have a lovely sound (except to my ears the sometimes excess bass as discussed in the vid). And it's interesting how the front knob was something that pushed them in your favour. I did like it, it felt quality and was nice to interact with, but did find it annoying that it would cause the speakers to move about when being pressed unless you gripped the side of the speaker too. The capacitive touch buttons on the Edifier eliminated that issue for me which was a deciding factor towards them. Interesting how we all have different tastes, and the world would be a boring place if we all preferred the same thing!

@@ednewmy I didn't know the button was so hard to press so I too find that annoying. However turning it off/on is less than adjusting the volume.

Thank you for taking time and reviewing these speakers. For me the sound is the most important thing when it comes to speakers. From your description I would opt for Kanto - you said that there is a bit too much base but also you mentioned that it was controllable by simply mowing thee speakers around. Right now I still have my old Bose Companion 20. And for sure they are not audiophile speakers, they did the same thing; they sounded "boomy" for a month or two. Not any more. Speakers need to be break-in, otherwise they don't sound right.
Second thing is about power pack. Sure, it's more convenient to have built-in power supply. But from sound quality perspective I prefer external one; 1st. a way less hum from A/C (50 or 60Hz). 2nd power supply in one speaker box means that the internal volume of the speakers is different and resonates at different frequencies.
    cheers

@@tjblues01 Thanks very much for commenting and your feedback, it's really appreciated!
When pulled out from the wall the Kanto's weren't boomy, but they did still exhibit that extra bass hump that I mentioned.
I didn't hear any hum whatsoever with either pair of speakers, so it seems the internal power supply doesn't make any audible difference here, to my ears anyway.
And I take your point about the internal volume being different. Regardless, I don't hear any difference in tone or resonance between the primary and secondary Edifier speaker, so if the internal power supply does cause a difference then I'm not able to hear it. I suppose others may do if you are really really focusing on it.

@@ednewmy I don't have Kanto, so I can only guess. Speakers and shoes have to be broken-in. Otherwise they don't feel right.
You're right. With modern technologies hum and hiss are way less pronounced than in older days. For ex.a switched-mode power supply doesn't need heavy transformers and it works at frequencies above human hearing (100kHz+). Together with a class D amplifier it's easy to apply low pass filter above 20kHz...
I found it hard to hear the difference between L and R speakers by just listening to a music. Especially in stereo. But with the pink noise in mono and switched L&R it becomes obvious. Edifier engineers are not idiots and I bet that they compensated for "missing" parts in the slave speaker. They could just put an extra piece of acoustic foam.
      Cheers!

I have the Edifier s880db (first version) they are very nice, very clean and detailed sound, I used them with the TV they are so much better than a standard soundbar. I bought bigger speakers for with the TV now use the s880db on a desk.

I am VERY curious to see the Kanto ORA vs the Onkyo GX-10 (coming out in late March or early April). Onkyo about 100 Euro cheaper ($200 for USA, 250 Euro for Europe, sh*t!) but I believe Kanto won't be better. We'll see...
