Euphy had unencrypted video stream that were accessible through the web portal. They said they fixed this and encrypted everything end to end, but this is video that was supposed to be stored locally in the first place and they were caught lying about the unencrypted video and the fact that they are storing it on cloud servers and I’m not sure euphy can be trusted.
This is a fair point. I think LTT blew this out of proportion a couple years back. The Hook Up channel did a video that I thought did a really good job of explaining the situation.
My house is covered by TP-Link including cameras, smart plugs and smart bulbs. It’s was all one time purchase and controlled with one free app. There is a subscription service to have cloud saving but this is optional as it also saves on a micro SD card.
Wireless cameras have their place, but make sure your critical areas are covered by wired cameras. Jamming wifi is painfully simple these days with inexpensive equipment. The local storage on a jammed wifi camera is only useful after the event. Wont help if you're trying to do live monitoring / motion detection.
Only reason I had to give in and use ring was I live in a rental that I can't make major modifications (like running wired cameras) too. Belive me if I could do that I'd be all over local storage cameras.
TP link seems better and you can sub 10 cameras for $3 per month for faster access and rich notification. I use SD card with my cam and it records 24/7 but accessing footage or clips takes a long time when it keeps recording so i sub and also record locally that way i have backup options and can easily view footage anywhere
Fair question. I had been reviewing them on RUclips for a while. Some of the early ones let you detect people for free overtime. They’ve pretty much done away with that.
Subscription is fine if it offers things that SD card cant provide like instant access to clips, ability to scrub through 24/7 video history, rich notification, fast access from basically anywhere. I have TP link and use 24/7 recodring on SD but i find sometimes i need to wait for a minute or 2 to see the footage or clip off of SD card @@MichaelVance

Lorex is good too!
I love ubiquiti unifi platform but there is initial setup expenses. The cameras are fantastic
At some point, I'd love to try them out. I use them for networking, but their cameras are expensive.
@@MichaelVance the quality is worth it imo. I've heard a lot of horror stories for the cheaper cameras

Great point. I think a mix can be good since running cable to everywhere isn't always feasible.

20/20 in retrospect sometimes. I'd love to go wired, but it would be difficult to run cable.
…
Do You recommend TP Link's Tapo C500?

You don’t need a subscription to use arlos had mine for years no subscription. Alll the subscription does is make it a little better.
I use Imou cameras, no subscription required
Just make sure you also don't get a wireless camera. Those aren't security cameras.
Webcams and server pc
Why tf did you keep buying them if you didn’t want to pay the subscription?

Don’t use eufy, owned by amazon
Owned by Anker, but close. I don't care what anyone buys, just don't pay subscriptions.
