    This is AWESOME - so cool to see what's on the other side. I hike up to sterling pond in the summer!

    Wow. It’s like that steep section of devils, put instead of lasting for a hundred feet it. It just goes on and on and on and on.

    Is it dangerous out here if you never went out here? ? If you follow tracks I’m assuming it’s ok but I read someone died recently

      It drops down into RT108 - you make your way back to Lot1 and Sterling from there.

      @@scarlol1800 it's easy enough for people to find if they ask around. Frankly I've gotten criticism for revealing some of the stuff that I have. Also not knowing people's ability levels I'm going to let folks do some of their own legwork. Call it gatekeeping if you like.

    That's called Scary Larry's. When it's fresh it's good for about 4 descents before it's tracked out. Tight & steep, then kicks out into beautiful little glade until you hit 108. You kind of trashed it by stopping so much and slashing your skis across the fall line. It's meant to be run top to bottom without stopping. Best done on a Snowboard by a skilled rider.

      Huh. Good to know. All sorts of locals' names for the various lines. I can't quite keep track of them other than the basics so far...

    • @OzrikKnob
      @OzrikKnob 9 месяцев назад +1

      @@mybadvideos Yeah, there's a lot of different names for everything back there, such is the nature of an unmanaged area that has been "developed" by locals with buck saws and a desire for the godhead. There are a few well known ones, Oliver's Twist for instance. Originally the guy who trimmed it out just called it Twist, but we all knew his name so referred to it as Oliver's Twist. It's a good run, popular though. It starts higher and much farther out than you've gone here. A word of caution: If you don't know that area extremely well, and aren't prepared to weather a night or two in the cold after an accident or getting trapped somehow, don't go alone. Or if you do, be aware that the consequences of a misstep might cost you your life.

      @@OzrikKnob the reality is most of my skiing is done alone. It's not optimal, but then again if I was always abiding the "rule of 3" I wouldn't be skiing woods much, and this channel might not exist.
      This is one reason you won't generally see me flying through the woods in any of my videos at maximum velocity.
      Do you ski at Smuggs a lot?

    • @OzrikKnob
      @OzrikKnob 9 месяцев назад +1

      @@mybadvideos I worked there in the 90s and 2000s. I supervised the Snowboard Program. I rode out there almost every afternoon...alone. My rule was I'd hike out with folks looking to go, but they were on their own for the ride down. I took a lot of criticism for riding out there alone, mostly because I mostly charge things pretty hard. That's my Flow zone, that's my Zen. I accept the risk, most don't really understand the risk. When it goes wrong it goes very wrong. I was willing to trade the safety for the buzz. Just be careful.
